What if those consequences are meaningless to them? What if the US feels the need to enforce the SR's through force when the UN has failed in it's job (similar to state's enforcement of federal immigration law)?

Eventually more likely to be a tool used to control policy so that our local politicians don't have to bear the burden of blame for moving forward with control policies. Its already started. People kill each other all over the world i.e. Africa and we don't do anything about it unless it effects us. Let's face it. Why should we. I just wish they would just come out and be open about it. $5 gallon of gas generates more tax revenue and more money for big energy. Drive the cost up and protect it all at the same time. It's not the slavery of the past but it's the barrier breaker that will eventually move us back to that direction. You can't change a successful and prosperous government until you first make it poor. Removing the middle class is the first step.
