I played CF and it was (and is) my favorite position on the field. As a lifelong Cards fan I feel that Jim Edmonds was one of the best ever to play CF. .but not the best. His flair for the dramatic catch. .unparelled. But watching Andruw Jones day repeatedly run down balls Jimmy wouldn't get to is hard to challenge. And I hate the freakin' Braves. I wish Jimmy well with the Padres as he finishs a great career. When he's healthy, he's a treat to watch in the outfield.

It should be noted that Jones and Edmonds shared the award from 2000-2005. Those who voted on this are predominantly writers with "credentials" achieved by covering the game daily. Not necessarily more "intricately" involved. I spent 44 years inside the game as a player and coach and that's pretty damn close to the game. As stated Edmonds is my personal favorite but he never broke in on a ball better than Andruw Jones. Living in Atlanta, I saw way too many of his circus catches.
