  • ...all the way to Cortez Banks for two 20lb jacks?

    ...miserable!

  • FUKN AWESOMEE!!!

  • Every chance I get, I shoot a seal or at a seal.......they're everywhere........never planned on actually hauling one in but it may provide some kind of deterrence for the next guy out there.......

  • Forgive my ignorance, but why do you rip the gills out right after you catch it?

    Thankz!

  • @IEsorry -

Long Anwser:The gills are ripped out to preserve the best quality fish as possible. We only spear what we will eat and do everything to maximize quality of the meat, so we rip out the gills to bleed out the fish making the meat whiter and less fishy tasting.

Short Anwser: Better for sashimi :)

  • @sharkhunter01 Haha nice. I get it now. And I absolutely love sashimi!

    Happy Diving

  • @IEsorry Not to mention it is only humane to dispatch your fish quickly. Gill ripping is the easiest way and doesn't require a knife.

  • nice vid mate...losing a fish ,not to mention equipment, like that really sucks lol

  • Whats the song before pepper?

  • you got a high definition camera there! cool vid! by the way, werent you afraid that there might be sharks or whales in that area because a seal was spotted?

  • crazy vid love it. check out my yellowtail vid :)

  • good thing u had a gun release. i dont if that was me i woud have lost my gun too.

  • LOL on the lost gear... Something like that happened to me but I lost the whole gun, shaft and float line... A Riffe teak gun... No doubt... Shit happens in our sport!!

Thanks for sharing... Cool video and great fishing!!

  • you could of at least given that friendly seal a bonito! share the love

  • @lightningchaser111

Why? They already associate humans with food causing them to lose their fear and act aggressive towards divers.

  • awesome vid, whats the name of the first song?

  • what a pain in the ass losing a fish of that calibre

  • Best fucken video in youtube!!

Austin you crazy mother trucker Je. Be. eLe.!!!

    Spaniard

  • Yeah baby rip out those gills! Looks like a beautiful day under the sea. Good fishing!! I would murder to go on a trip like that. Alaskan water is a bit chilly but some of the halibut I hooked into towed the boat around. A fish like that would surely take you to the bottom. Nice vid

  • What are your camo fins brands?

  • Picasso black teams

  • couldnt watch whole thing were you freediving?

  • if you watched it half way you would know they were free diving lol

  • nice video man both the camera quality is superb man props and music hits a nice quiet deep blue sea impact man truly amazing big props and the location southern california cortez bank man thats were i want to spear fish next whats the first and the second artist names big props bro

  • wuts the name and artist of the first song?

    by the way Nice Video!

  • wait is it necessary to rip the gills out? 3:40

  • Although perhaps a little gruesome, ripping the gills out is done to immediately bleed the fish out to obtain the best quality or grade of fish. It is a common practice that makes the fish quality much better and removes many toxins that are contained in the blood which later absorb into the meat.

The same is done with any sushi grade fish you may buy although they take a long piece of wire and run it down the fishes spinal cord, severing nerve endings.

  • wow, i learned somehting new today.. thanks! haha

  • what kinda spear are you usin?

  • man those are some hella nice yello tails...

  • Nice. Do you have to worry about sharks coming after you shoot the fish?

  • i love gidging and when i get a decent sized fish, how would you suggest to finish it off??

  • isn't it smarter to go up on the boat and then pull the fish??

  • sure if you wanna get really tired, really fast

  • hahahah chimibert you put that in such a funny way mate sissies you funny one mate

  • all i can say is kool lol

  • Nice Vid from one spearfishing nut to another,,,Nice!!

  • Do the zip up or wear speedo's next time please!!

  • It´s unbeliavable how an experienced spearo could attach the snap clip the wrong way!! Anyway that only happens once in a life time. Great vid

  • Sharks and the risk of drowning aside, what's so dangerous about freedive spearfishing?

  • yup, aside of getting lost at sea, run over by a boat, dragged by current, get bitten by a shark, killed by a SWB, get entangled with the float line, get a cardio arrest due to the effort and drowned by cramps, the sport is for sissies!!

  • RAFLMAO

  • A++++++

  • eh teknoguitar whats the matter you gotta small dick, or did someone just stick a sling up your ass? HAHA FUCKAH!!!!!!! Nice Video and music.

  • real men get off the boat to make their catch! what a great sport.

  • Don't worry about guys that hate spear fishing, it's their problem.

I know a guy that bags on spear fishing but got so nervous when we took him he wouldn't get out the boat. He's still my mate and it doesn't bother me.

I prefer to kill my fish than drag them out of the water and throw them in a bucket of ice but I like line fishing too.

  • I had pretty much the same thing happen to me when I shot my first Yellow Tail. (kingfish, as we call them here in NZ)I had it on the surface and I was reaching for my knife wile holding on to its tail with one hand, (big mistake!) it didn't seem to like that! pretty much the same thing as in the video, it thrashed its tail hard and got out of my grip and swam away, except i wasn't using a slip tip so the flopper had folded back down and the fish got away :(

  • great video.

  • Wow from your extremely mature comment I think in order to avoid being a "fag" I will hereby never kill a fish with a spear again...instead I will just buy fish from the store, which in turn supports commercial fishing which is internationally raping the ocean and produces a high level of bycatch compared to spearfishing which produces ZERO bycatch and allows an individual to select a few good eating fish for dinner. So before you go slandering my videos again why dont u do some research first.

  • only a fagot like u likes techno guitar

  • Beatiful picture 5:51, The star was the seal in the picture.

  • who's in the apnea kelp kamo and who's in the Yazbeck?

  • Im in the apnea and Joe Farlo is in the Yazbeck

  • how thick is your suit?

  • well,how thick is your suit?5mm?

  • 7mm

  • I liked the seal footage even though they can be such a pain in the arse when they snatch your fish. The picture at 5:51 is a classic. Good one

  • ..and nice equipment..

    :)

  • nice vid nice music
