papiyyon is the pronunciation lol. Editors are not a well known band, though they should be, unfortunately quality has gone out of the window in recent years. Yet their electronic conversion is getting more debate than dylan ever did, perhaps they gonna be huge, they should be, this album deserves the mercury an last years was given out to the token act so they cant afford to do it again for a cupla years
jornhilhorst - i would like to agree with what you are saying, but in today's world, there is so much garbage music that sells (rap, pop, country, etc) big time, and i don't see it evolving. Good luck to the Editors, haven't heard much of their music, but they do seem like they are trying to have their own original sound, so I'll give them credit for that, although I'm not quite feeling terrific vibes from their music (yet?)
I totally agree with jornhilhorst every band changes their music at a certain stage or people just get bored of them and move on,but to be honest i do not see Editors messing this one up,they are a superb band and no one can argue at that. And just after listening to their recent song Papillon which is a change, yes, but a good one in my eyes. Can't wait to hear more from a top band.
I was slightly apprehensive a few months ago at the prospect of a 'new' sound, but having heard some new tracks I am even more in love with Editors! :D
My only problem with this new album, (from what I've heard of it anyway), is the song name, 'Papillon'. I have absolutely no idea of its pronounciation! s:
Tom Smith said in an interview that their would be no guitars featured on ITL&OTE. They're doing a Yeah Yeah Yeah's, or a reverse Keane. All I can say is I'll give it a chance, but I'm not optimistic. I'm extremely frustrated that so many good bands find it necessary to completely change their sound and ideas at their 3rd album after 2 very good ones. Its selfish, it lets down fans, it shows very short span of interest, and it rarely produces a good album. This sample seems no different.

Add Franz Ferdinand to that list. Recently got Tonight:Franz Ferdinand. So disappointing from such a brilliant band. I'm afraid I see that coming from Editors too
They won fans after 2 albums, and going to a new sound will make new fans, at the same time the old fans will like it anyway because it's Editors, and their music is simply great,
well nobody likes em just because they're Editors... but hell ofr course they got artistic freedom and im glad new bands use it and give a big finger to sticking to a safe sound only to fade after 2 years for lack of evolving your sound... check out every great band in the world... they ALL evolve.. u don;t ? then ur gone. world changes , people change hell everything changes , as should and does the music. AMEN to the music
Selfish? Are you joking? Bands make whatever fucking music they want, they should never do songs just because the fans want them to. And I'd rather see bands changing than doing the same album over and over.
Sorry dude, totally disagree, if a band sticks to it's path the fans say; "You only have to buy one album, then you have em all", it is also comercially a very good choice if it sounds like Papillon.
There are plenty of exceptions to what alexs1422 is saying, I totally agree with jornhilhorst as well.
Take 'Intimacy' by Bloc Party for example, full of great songs (especially with the newer release with 'One More Chance' on) and even if you dont like it as much as the previous two albums its hard to see it as a bad album in any sense.
I welcome changes in music, I've started to like a much wider span now that typical 'alternative/indie' bands are changing their style :)
is it just me or does anyone else think glastonbury is going to be shit this year i mean no bands have done anything this year so far what are they going to sing? the same songs from last year.
i've yet to hear anything remotely sounding like REM in Editors' music and i don't personally rate REM very high (I totally lost interest after the album Monster). With Flood on board my expectations are now quite high, He's always brought the best from artists he's worked with, I'm thinking Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode (the darker stuff) and PJ Harvey.
Don't be so quick to judge an entire album by a 15 second preview of a very early unfinished version of a song! The album could turn out to be like anything yet.
Flood's recorded with the likes of U2 and R.E.M. This is going to be a very interesting album, especially since they are influenced by Michael Stipe and his fellow rock Gods that are the mighty R.E.M.
voice is amazing in this track

It is indeed. The 2nd CD is called Cuttings II and the track is titled "I Want a Forest". I thought I recognised the song when I first heard!

But this is seriously good news! I loved Sam`s Town, and I love Editors, so this album can`t go wrong, IMO!
