  • what was the wind on this race...definitely within the 2.0m/s ..but what precisely been looking for it all over..

  • Nooo u can't run that fast legally

  • THAT NIqqA QUICK AZZ HELL!

  • omg the white guy got 4th place!

  • @Cenzo141 HAHAHA THATS EXACTLY WHAT I SAID

  • michael ray garvin in black 10.32

  • USAIN BOLT FASTER

  • @Massive997 thank you sir obviouse, usain bolt has three records dont act like u school anyone by telling us hes faster moron

  • ford hurt himself there?

  • apparently yeah, perhaps cramps.

  • he needs to fix that start

  • more like he needs to "dix" his start xD

  • I often make the mistake of too much cadence in the drive phase, while my 60 is good, I die over the last 20 of the 100.

  • I guess the trick is finding the perfect balance between the two.

    cadance and stride length.

All i know is, when i run the 40 yard dash, my stride length is MUCH,MUCH more longer than a 100m dash.

But yeah, I guess it's the way you run, eh?

  • Have you looked into a technique known as high knee prancing? It's a difficult technique to master, but it can definitely help your last 20 of the 100m.

  • Funnily enough I was drilling it with my coach last night at training!!!

  • I feel where you comming from, but when you break each phase into sections while running, you'll find the race to be a lot shorter...ie.reaction, drive with long powerful strides..also staying relaxed, throwing your hands back instead of moving your arms. drive with elbow, then maintaining that speed after the 60 is a lot easier

  • Seriously dude, HOW can cadence conserve more energy than stride length?? It just doesn't make sense! Mate - I quoted Mo before and he is the so called 'godfather' of this technique. And I'm only teaching the information of the top world sprint coaches - Charlie Francis, John Smith, Dan Pfaffe.

Seriously if it works for you then fair enough... but I think you could go faster if you think of length rather than cadence at the start.

  • You're contradicting yourself...

Mo (and I quote) describes his efficient drive phase as "pushing long, strong movements" not snatching away at every ground contact.

Every runner is different - Justin v Powell = cadence v stride length...

    HOWEVER;

Where does Powell use the largest movements and full triple extension? that's right! in the drive phase... even the cadence sprinters look for big strides in the drive phase.

    Nuff said.

  • You know what?

I want you to keep believing what you believe. I'm glad there are people like you who barely know anything about running so that when I run a 10.3 in the 100m - people like you are are come up with crappy ass theories about how I did it.

Keep teaching bad information...you give guys like me an advantage.

Kids are going to be "emphasizing ROM" in the beginning of the race and end up dying out 40 meters left.

thanks bud :] you were great.

  • P.s:

Asafa Powell in Rieti, Italy [9.74] biggest range of motion was his ONE "big step" in the beginning of the race.

After that one big step his arms are actually tight, his head is down, and his stride decreases.

    college education my ass.

  • If you noticed he starts behind everybody...that's not by accident.

  • Thats actually bullshit... they're just more efficient in the acceleration phase. NOBODY accelerated after 60-70m... and certainly not Dix.

And if you think he gets a shit start on purpose you must be retarded!

  • hey, your actually bullshit. Look at how many times maurice greene starts behind everybody.

When he broke the world record, his start was only average.

Hell, look at *donovan bailey's 9.84* - he starts way behind everybody.

Look at tyson gays record breaking race - his start isn't that outstanding.

Do you know why they have more efficient acceleration? it's because they established foot turnover in the beginning.

    Now slap yourself.

  • Turn over? No - they use a large ROM in the first 30 to make it more efficient...

All that pacing bullshit is just a myth. They just aim to accelerate as far as possible.

Bailey started behind because he had a bad start naturally.

I no more than you - I got a degree in Sport and Exercise Science.

    Now Slap your Mum!

  • who the heck says MUM? what is a rom?

are you from england? No wonder you don't know anything about track....

You got a degree in Sport and Exercise Science? that's good for you :]

now slap yourself again, because I majoring in Kinesiology and ran track all my life.

I never said "pacing". I said turnover, but I guess it's pure coincidence that Donovan Bailey, Tyson Gay, Maurice Greene, Walter Dix, Xavier Carter, and Usain Bolt are all average or sub-average starters in the 100m...

  • Mum is a term used in your fatherland. rom = range of movement; not turnover = more efficient. Even John Smith describes it as 'delayed acceleration' not a friggin shit start on purpose you tool. I've studied this issue in depth and discussed it with possibly the worlds most advanced sprints coach - you should be really ashamed of your observations as a scholar of human kinetics.

Maurice had maybe the best start in the world, and certainly 20-30m acceleration (6.39, 6.39 over 60m)

  • ... most of the people you mention are 100/200 runners, so no wonder they have an average start. ASAFA and MAURICE and ATO had good starts.

    Now SLAP your disintegrating ego!

  • Maurice didn't have the best start when he broke the world record. It was only average.

He has great acceleration in the 60m because the 60m ISN'T THE 100M. it requires a different technique. It forces him to get into his stride quicker.

Have you seen Asafa powell on his world record runs? Sure, he actually has a good start, but do you see how short his stride is?

Do you know why he's doing that? It's because he's trying to increase his turnover so when he gets to that acc. stage

  • he can actually have a combination of foot turnover and stride while everybody else is slowing down.

Sure, Walter Doesn't want to start behind everybody, but because he's establishing foot turnover - it ends up like that. So in actuality - starting up slower than everybody is on purpose.

The great sprinters stay down longer than everybody. Want to know why? If it was "range of movement" or whatever, they'll be up striding like everybody else.

    They stay down to...

  • delay their acceleration and increase their turnover.

When you do that, it forces you to move your feet to "keep from falling over" which increases your "turnover"

When you come up. You end up striding, and since you already have your turnover you established from the beginning, all you have to do is increase your stride and you'll end up accelerating ahead of everybody.

This is basic stuff. No degree required.

  • ....because we all know michael johnson had the most incredible range of movement.

just check out his stride in the 200m. It's so much longer than everybody else's

    "sarcasm"

  • the last one end up 11.48 in this category? shame.

  • Jacoby ford, the Clemson runningback? lol. that cat is slow in track, atleast in this race....

he'll kill you in football though

  • looks like he pulled his hamstring, he's insanely fast if I remember correctly

  • I agree

  • You mean speed endurance - he aint accelerating, he's slowing down slower than every1 else.

  • No it's a combination of both. It's a technique that the best use.

The way the run the race allows them to accelerate and reach their top speed at the end while everybody else simply slows down.

  • get dix on the field

  • haha jacoby was last he runs like a 4.16 40 yrd crazy

  • i aint american lol, wot does dat mean?

  • what's happened to Willie Perry this season? didn't he run 10.12 last year?

  • jaacoby must have pulled a muscle

  • jacoby is the shit .

walter has a fast last 50 though ,

clemson track and field all day .

  • how old is dis guy

  • lamar thomas from maryland, future terp, jr in highschool ran, 10.16

  • Trindon Hoilday 10.02 at NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships 06/06/07 qualifying for the 100meter final Friday. Oh and he also plays Football...Ford who? Better recognize.

  • Michael LeBlanc was winning at around 60-70 meters and then Dix just flew by him.Congrats to Walter Dix.He is quite a talent.LeBlanc will be a great sprinter within another year or two.Go Seminoles!

  • no one cares if Legay was winning at 60 meter mark he still got 4th.

  • lol alllie

  • Jacoby Ford was in the lead until he pulled lame at about 35 meters

  • jacoby ford is still one of the fastest college football players in the country

  • plus Ford is just a Freshman (isn't Dix a junior??)... and Ford has run the fasted 55m time in the world this year, I believe... as a FRESHMAN

  • like foreal tho tha bit still fast ass fuck
