Because of piracy, TV shows and movies producers are afraid of producing anything that won't sell, so they don't try to have anything revolutionary, and try to make movies and shows with the least amount of effort because they don't want to spend millions on a movie and just see it fall short. So this argument that today's music and movies suck may actually be very accurate.
