Sesame street is fantastic as the little monster asked Mr. Reeves in a way that any young child would, and Big Bird didn't scold the child for being inquisitive but supported the child's question with more questions the child was probably going to ask anyway. I think people are conditioned to ignore disabilities or try to not bring attention to them or even stop their children from asking questions. Children ask questions, just like this and it is OK to ask and learn.

There's something about kids' shows like Sesame Street that made them great: they always encouraged kids that you can overcome adversity and hardships like what Christopher Reeve went through. Even before Barney soon became way too happy-go-lucky: there was an episode when the kids grandparents came to visit, but one of the kids got sad when their grandparents couldn't come. Everybody helped out by giving words of encouragement to that one kid.
Reeve reminds me of my mother. He paralyzed 7 years ago, like Reeve did. I admire both of them, my mother and Reeve, because they didn't stop, they didn't start to worry their situation. My mother fought his old house for herself, even though insurance companies and other bastards tried to stop her.
Being paralyzed doesn't mean it's end of the world. You have to start living again, try to recover and move on on your life. Reeve did.
I think this is an awesome segment that any kid should see! We are all equal and should be in the eyes of anyone weather we are powered by battery or our own power! God Bless!

Christopher Reeve was a childhood hero. In fact, not only was he Superman, he was also Miss Piggy's favourite star. He was also a Unitarian, like I am. He was just so inspiring.

I won't lie, I've laughed at my share of jokes, doesn't mean I can't be touched by this. This was a very moving skit! You could literally see in Reeves face how hard this was. How "Big Bird" brought up how he met him before the accident. Wonderful way to explain to children that sometimes people change. Very tastefully done!

it was obvious that he was very uncomfortable talking abt his disability. A thousand curses on sesame street for degrading people with disabilities everywhere by stating the obvious. I mean how the fudge does this assist in the integration and inclusion of disabled people in American society. I understand that it ST has to explain to 4 yr olds, disabilities, however this clip portrays disabled people as functionless beings, which is portrayed in Zoe's statements.
