Yep Great Tablet (probably the Best make for sure), but if your on a Budget and still want size! I'm selling one on eBay UK (leck865) thats affordable - 19" 1 day left on auction
@kevin71127 Well, if money isn't an obstacle for you then you can't go wrong with the Cintiq. Nothing beats being able to draw on the screen like if it was paper. But remember, and i know you are aware, buying the cream of the crop wont make you a better artist than the one who's using a lesser tablet, it will make, however, more efficient and productive and that is very important when working as a professional. Good luck in whatever you choose:)
Hey. I just got an intuos4 and i cant seem to get it to work the way i want. You see, when i press the pen down on the tablet on the same spot it works as if i "right-clicked". This is really annoying when drawing detailed stuff. Do you have any idea how to change that?
Hope you can help me and great drawing skills you got there, amazing!
do you rest your hand on the tablet when you draw? i find it REALLY hard not to. and also, how do you get the lines that precise? when i draw lines they go all shaky
@yujabes well its seems you are not the one who appreciate other skills/jobs. judge it after you have experienced/have knowledge of how ententainment/game industry run.. they use a lot of digital artwork made by tablet like wacom.. its have a lot of benefits.. so the main purpose of digital artwork is not for fine art...
I see that you have invested a lot in the Wacom things and I want to make a question. How does the tablet's size affects me?I mean,If i buy the small one, will I be able to make a huge drawing or not? With a few words, the tabelt's size is only a matter of freedom for my hand to spread on the pad easily,or it affects the painting's size too? Please answer if you can.
hello marcello, i have a question since you seem to know a lot about tablets, which one do you think its better? intuos 4 o cintiq12wx? i want to buy one of those but i just cant decide which one
@MonicaKrull. The Intuos4 and Cintiq12wx have the exact same pen, The main difference is going to speed. With a Cintiq you can see lines happening as you draw them, and just like drawing on real paper, it is more immediate. For graphic designers and illustrators the intuos4 would be fine for most scenarios. For concept artists, storyboard, and illustrators, Cintiq is an investment that would really pay off in the long run, and one that I would really consider if I was using it to make a living.
The key difference is that the Cintiqs have a screen which allows you to work as if you're working with paper, instead of looking at your computer screen. That is why the Cintiq is so expensive, the technology required to make a responsive screen is incredible. Also Cintiq is quicker but unless you're making a living off of drawing it is unnecessary to spend in excess of £1000 on it. Both work well, but i find the intuos more practical and it has replaced my mouse for everything
i wanted to ask that if for example i am using intuos 4 small? its dimensions are 6.2 x 3.9 in, will it open the same size document on photoshop or any other software i use? cant i just work on a bigger document while using a small tablet? i hope i made sense :S
his disproportion body make him look like a villain. i guess you been practicing on the face and not the body. remember that a good artist needs to know all the aspects of his art. hope you take this comment in a helping way.
I'm new to tablets and am very wary of them after my first tablet. It was crap. It was unresponsive the pen broke after 2 days. I don't even remember the brand of it. Obviously the intuos 4 is much more advanced. Would an intuos4 small be a good investment for a beginner? I've looked at the bamboo fun and it is nice, but I want to make more professional quality work and thats what I've seen and heard about the intuos 4.
I have a wacom bamboo, and I can never do a sketch with the precision like the one in your video, am I doing something wrong, or the bamboo is just crap?
@Yellowknight888 If you are working with a high-quality image (more pixels per inch) you need to zoom in to get fine lines. I have a bamboo tablet too.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@Yellowknight888 ......basically all you have to do it put a photo of the character of your choice onto your pad and trace it. Im pretty sure thats how all of these clowns do it!!
@victorrigal do you really believe people buy a 400-500 bucks tablet if all they can do is tracing a picture? no..you buy such a tablet if you actually have a certain drawing skill....don't offend someone only because he is good at something ;)
@hemidesign : it's indeed a nice sketch...did you ever finish it?
@yujabes According to your logic, traditional drawing would mean that the paper and pencil does 50-70% of the work then...seeing as though your under the impression that the tool does the job and not the artist. There was no "make art" button for him to press. Stylus in hand, as he would with a pencil, make a stroke, a line appears...the exact same thing would happen with a traditional pencil, brush, charcoal stick etc...only instead of appearing on paper, canvas or wood..its appearing on screen
@goulter1985 hold on. I've seen plenty of artist draw this digital nonsense with a mouse on "deviantart"
see for yourself. This is art. But the machine plays a huge part. computing pressure, picking colors, undos, not running out of ink, color, layers, filters, blending ( which is 100 times harder to do in traditional) never compare a piece of plastic with a pencil. thats just silly. hell i bet you can't even draw.
@yujabes Good way to win a point of view, "bet you can't even draw". Sound's like a 7 year old. Try using facts, not ridicule. Pressure, done traditionally, picking colors, the same, most digital artists don't use filters, and no, blending isnt 100 times harder traditionally. Blending traditionally, depending on medium, is fairly easy. Again your sayng the tool does the job, not the artist. General rule: if you think the tool does the job, you know absolutely nothing about art...go get educated.
@yujabes The irony is that so called "real artists" (traditional) preach about being open to all forms of art and accept them all without questioning quality, how its done, or ridiculing it. Oh except for digital art..cause its not "real". This simple wolverine sketch is 1000x the art of a piece of abstract garbage covered in squiggles and dots. Guess the "real artists" don't like someone who actually spent the time to learn how to draw. Hypocrites.
@goulter1985 Let me break it down. Whats worth more? A manky old sketch by LDV or a digital painting by some wacom Artist? Or a sorayama compared to some digital airbrushing? Digital artist can simple be left in the cold by a black out. All artistic expression doesn't merit applause. Some require more skill then others.
Drawing on a piece of plastic controlled by a driver doesn't make equal to the greats. Even if your raw skills match or surpass them. Digital art is cheap & easy.
@yujabes that is beyooond ridiculous, no words for the ignorance you just uttered.. the very reason an artist is talented on a tablet is because they're talented... PERIOD. the reason is that tablets are meant to mimic paper such that it's not really different from working on paper or even a canvas.
your comment is like a caveman saying da vinci's mona lisa is crap because he didn't use his fingers. it's just another set of tools in a new medium. it's not easier or harder, just different.
@yujabes Havnt been on here hence the late reply. First, I don't base how good art is on its monetary value. Jackson Pollocks randomized paint throwing is apparently art to the "real artists", but anyone not lying to themselves knows its nothing more than capitalizing on a hype.
The fact that you said, quote "Digital art is cheap and easy" pretty much has just proven to me you know absolutely nothing about it. Many traditional artists find digital art more difficult than traditional.
@yujabes Does film deserve less recognition because it is reproduced in digital formats? Does it make the actor any less because they arent doing before a live audience? "LDV compared to some wacom Artist" "sorayama compared to some airbrushing". You know so much yet can not name one digital artist? Poor attempt at trying to make them look undeserving of recognition. Again, it only shows how ignorant your being. Basically, your an art snob. Crying because what you were taught is becoming obsolete
@yujabes try to do that then if its easy, try to do a realistic work with a tablet there is nothing automatic here so every artist style is different and the capability too if you are saying that is because you haven´t tried to use a tablet before and you don´t know that tablets in some ways are harder to use because you need practice unless you have a cintiq you dont work directly on the screen but with everytthing else its just like paper !
@yujabes A good artist can make beautiful art with ANYTHING. Give a talented artist a pencil and paper and nothing else and he'll come up with something extraordinary. It's not the tools that make the artist, it's artist that makes the tools. The tools just provide an easier way to draw and achieve your vision. You JUST proved that you are SUPREMELY narrow-minded and immensely untalented. Good job :)
@victorrigal talentless piece of trolling shit. if you pay attention, the zoom in the screen keeps changing. in order to cheat like you said, the size of the picture over the tablet would have to magically change its size so it could keep up with the zooming changes in the screen.
@Yellowknight888 Usually when I do all my designs and drawings I start on paper first, then scan them in with a scanner and work on them digitally. that's one method if you're still having trouble adjusting to drawing on a tablet. That and, In my personal opinion, to go with either only traditional or only digital is a mistake. Neither art form can completely replace the other.
@Yellowknight888 No. The wacom Bamboo is crap... not crap.. but no where near as good as the intuos. Intous has many features and better accuracy with drawing that the bamboo just doesn't have. Its precision is lacking in comparison. I have the bamboo and it's good for painting already drawn images and editing like retouching, but it is very difficult to draw with.
@gidlike Yeah, I wish people have tried the Bamboo before commenting, it's just sh1t when I try to draw a straight line and have to repeat 5 times to make it how I imagine it should be... i want something that is as precise as me picking up a HD pencil and paper, can Intous provide that? Thx
i have corel painter 4 and i'm considering the upgrade. but when i draw using the fine point pen in painter 4 and then try to color inside the lines it diminishes my fine point pen lines severely. how do i get a more solid line to color around with the paint bucket fill?
Btw: I'm still an amateur, but i'm training to become a good artist, you can take a look at my deviant to have an idea of how skilled i am right now, so you can recommend me the best option. There's a link to it in my channel.
i see you're an experienced artist, could you help me? I currently have a Trust tablet, it's not bad, but it's difficult to draw accurate lines with it, because the surface is too slyppery, it's like using a ball pen over a paper in a flat and hard table. I'm looking to buy a wacom tablet, but i don't want to spend a lot, what do you recommend me? I know the intuos are very accurate, but expensive and the bamboo are cheaper, but i don't know how accurate they are. What do you recommend me?
@elDreDas Don't go to the Ipad for drawing. The apps in that are weak and don't match up to the real thing. If you want the most realistic drawing response, go Intuos4. The Fun is ok, but I found the sensitivity to be difficult, and the nibs wore down fast.
I have a question for hemidesign, or anyone with enough experience to know the difference. I'm not willing to spend more than a couple hundred on a tablet and I wanted to know if the extra pressure levels on the Intuos4 (small) make up for the small size, or is it worth it enough to go for the Bamboo Fun, which has a larger drawing area. I'm fairly skilled at what I do, and am looking to get the kind of quality that you or heroemission gets with their art. What do you suggest?
@deadithink Bamboo is a great option...I used to play with bamboo pen..I really didn't see any difference between him and my intuos4 for pen pressure and draw quality on the screen.... the good thing about intuos4 is the circle area "speed ring" and the buttons "ExpressKeys"... they help a lot and save time ...I definitely take the intuos4 small for the customs keys..but if you need work area (helps a lot) go with bamboo fun!
@deadithink you probably made your decision by now but I bought the bamboo myself and took it back to get a intuos 4 small and im very happy with the upgrade. the biggest reason was the tilt control for bristle brushes in photoshop cs5. i also like the extra nibs and scroll wheel on the intuos. i use the scroll wheel and tilt quite a bit now and couldnt see using photoshop without it.
@RyanGadz Yep, I did the same thing. I'm real happy with the Intuos4. Now I just need to get Photoshop. The transition from material to digital is not easy on the wallet.
There are some free drawing rograms that i think are better than photoshop, if what you want is to draw. I'm trying ArtWeaver and Twisted Brush right now, and It's awesome!! It's like drawing/painting with real brushes/pencils. You can look for some "demo" videos here in youtube.
@xantyleonhart Thanks man, I appreciate the info. I recently got hooked into Sketcher, which is a paintchat app. You should try it. Look for Artgrounds.
Wow great job!! I use to practice back then in trying to get better at drawing but then later on lost interest in it I DO NOT KNOW WHY.... i guess i gave up trying to learn and now that i am going to college to pursue a bachelor degree in graphic design i kind of want to come back and learn to draw. What do you recommend best way to learn how to draw? Are there some books you recommend? I use to have a book where it would show how to sketch some cartoons but i lost the book and forgot da name
@banhotsu Get it if you can, its a really good program, especially if you like doing lineart. Its better than photoshop and painter in that regard...which are both honestly extremely overpriced. SAI is just as good for painting, and better some people think..they may be right too.
@banhotsu I personally havnt used the small ones. Though Im told they work just fine. Honestly the difference between bamboo and intuous is very small. Tilt sensitivity doesnt add much at all, the added pressure levels dont either. The quality of my art is the same on bamboo and intuos. Using intuos is "professional" tho so they say, as is using Photoshop compared to SAI for painting, tho SAI does just as good if not better for painting. "Industry standard" is used often in CG, means nothing tho
@banhotsu yeah you just have to get used to the hand-eye coordination. Paper a little easier since you see exactly where the line is going to be. you get used to it though
Hi! Your artwork is amazing, and it seems like the Intuos4 works very well for you, I'm considering buying one, for the same reasons as you use yours, sketching and artwork. But I have a few questions, 1. Does it come with Coral Painter and Photoshop? 2. What size would you recommend, the small one, wireless, etc. etc.?
Ok, I want to start off by telling you that Wolverine looks amazing, but what I wanted to ask is this. You see, I'm pretty skilled at pencil drawing so I was just wondering if it would be very hard for me to adapt to the tablet. I know getting used to any new equipment takes time, but do you think it would be more difficult for me because I usually draw in pencil rather than ink?
i'm a huge fan of your work and respect your skill's and patience drawing such beautiful art. I'm about to get the Intuos4 medium, but i still have to learn how to draw that good. So i need to practice it. The tablet is not the problem so we don't need to talk about it much, i'm quiet good in photoshop with many things i did with the mouse, even painting but i think it's gonna be easier with the tablet. Do you think i need pro-skills to start out with the tablet?
@AirFreaKz Thank you so much for your words AirFreakz....yes, you must have pro-skills to do that... I used to be a comic book teacher years ago!...And you need to practice to be familiar with the tablet!
@hemidesign Well, i was drawing a few things with my hand on a scrap paper and it seems to be like i can learn it, because my basics are quiet good for the first time drawing some 3D things. But getting used to that tablet and learning stuff even if it takes long, do you think it will be possible to draw at least such nice things? Because a few people told me that you gotta have the talent since your born, and taht kinda disappointed and demotivated me.. :(
@AirFreaKz NEVER be disappointed listening to the other's people CRAP! You don't have to be born with talent, God gives you the talent when you discover by yourself! If you have love to do this.. just go ahead! some advices: 1-Try to find some book or tutorial "how to draw human body" or similar stuff! 2- practice every day, try to draw objects and other stuff 3- do a search: Joe Kubert art school... they're best choices how to draw comics today! (In may case...I learned in Brazil art school)
@hemidesign Thank you very much hemi! You motivated me, i'll keep practicing and try to get better and better! I will remember you as the man who motivated me to do this, and i'll keep informing you about my successes if there will be any. Thank you very much! Would be also nice to see more from your drawing's!
I'm thinking about buying an Intuos 4 Medium. I wanna make some cartoons like you can see in the Nico Di Mattia website. My desired size when the time of printing my job is DIN-A3. I suppose that the medium size will be the correct.
It's true that is amazing the control of the brushes in Corel Painter 11/X...I need it!
@mrartforlife ... try to get the bigger size (medium or lager Intuos4) ... more space you have on the table to draw = more area you have to draw finest details!
The Intuos4 is considered the BEST table out there.. with 2048 points of pressure!
@bubblesofhell Painter is way better than Photoshop... Painter has a HUGE options of brushes and other drawing tools... make sure you choose painter X
@bubblesofhell hey, in most cases painter is superior as far as realism goes, what I mean is, it feels more like using real traditional media, but there are times when photoshop is better, if you want to make prints or make something that can be easily changed later - illustrator is what you should use. Do some more research on it I'd say, there are a lot of pros and cons of both.
some people could spend their whole life trying to "take it" talent and never get it while some are born with that "Gift". Marcello makes this great art seems easy.
My opinion is not a critic of his work, I'm not an expert, but my respect and admiration to an immenselly GIFTED man.
Wooow great wolverine man. Hey I wanted to ask if its difficult to adapt to using a tablet sinds you cannot see what your hand is doing. Well tnx and great vid.
thanks Hector...well... exactly took me few days to figure this table... the bigger size of the table is better... I have the medium size, which is ok.... I really wanna upgrade for the big one... :)
nice sketch

The fact that you said, quote "Digital art is cheap and easy" pretty much has just proven to me you know absolutely nothing about it. Many traditional artists find digital art more difficult than traditional.
goulter1985 9 months ago
@yujabes Does film deserve less recognition because it is reproduced in digital formats? Does it make the actor any less because they arent doing before a live audience? "LDV compared to some wacom Artist" "sorayama compared to some airbrushing". You know so much yet can not name one digital artist? Poor attempt at trying to make them look undeserving of recognition. Again, it only shows how ignorant your being. Basically, your an art snob. Crying because what you were taught is becoming obsolete
goulter1985 9 months ago
@yujabes lol everyone owned you
Alzion 8 months ago

Good job :)

@victorrigal hahahah doing that is a very stupid way of tracing... btw u are a dick GTFO
franja2190 9 months ago

Rockerninja329 1 year ago
@Yellowknight888 No. The wacom Bamboo is crap... not crap.. but no where near as good as the intuos. Intous has many features and better accuracy with drawing that the bamboo just doesn't have. Its precision is lacking in comparison. I have the bamboo and it's good for painting already drawn images and editing like retouching, but it is very difficult to draw with.
gidlike 1 year ago
@gidlike Yeah, I wish people have tried the Bamboo before commenting, it's just sh1t when I try to draw a straight line and have to repeat 5 times to make it how I imagine it should be... i want something that is as precise as me picking up a HD pencil and paper, can Intous provide that? Thx
Yellowknight888 1 year ago
i have corel painter 4 and i'm considering the upgrade. but when i draw using the fine point pen in painter 4 and then try to color inside the lines it diminishes my fine point pen lines severely. how do i get a more solid line to color around with the paint bucket fill?
schitzoclown 1 year ago
Btw: I'm still an amateur, but i'm training to become a good artist, you can take a look at my deviant to have an idea of how skilled i am right now, so you can recommend me the best option. There's a link to it in my channel.
xantyleonhart 1 year ago
i see you're an experienced artist, could you help me? I currently have a Trust tablet, it's not bad, but it's difficult to draw accurate lines with it, because the surface is too slyppery, it's like using a ball pen over a paper in a flat and hard table. I'm looking to buy a wacom tablet, but i don't want to spend a lot, what do you recommend me? I know the intuos are very accurate, but expensive and the bamboo are cheaper, but i don't know how accurate they are. What do you recommend me?
xantyleonhart 1 year ago
you have a God given talent/gift for drawing/sketching.
I do have the intuos 3 and 4 small but next year God willingly
I do hope to get myself the Cintiq21UX 2nd Gen.

Would you preffer to buy a WACOM BAMBOO FUN _PLUS_IPAD, or a Wacom Intuos 4 ONLY?? what is the diference betwen the bamboo fun and the intuos4?
elDreDas 1 year ago

What do you suggest?
deadithink 1 year ago
@deadithink Bamboo is a great option...I used to play with bamboo pen..I really didn't see any difference between him and my intuos4 for pen pressure and draw quality on the screen.... the good thing about intuos4 is the circle area "speed ring" and the buttons "ExpressKeys"... they help a lot and save time ...I definitely take the intuos4 small for the customs keys..but if you need work area (helps a lot) go with bamboo fun!
hemidesign 1 year ago
@hemidesign Thanks for the response. I think I'll try the Intuos4, and if it's too small return it for the Bamboo fun. Thanks again.
deadithink 1 year ago
@deadithink you probably made your decision by now but I bought the bamboo myself and took it back to get a intuos 4 small and im very happy with the upgrade. the biggest reason was the tilt control for bristle brushes in photoshop cs5. i also like the extra nibs and scroll wheel on the intuos. i use the scroll wheel and tilt quite a bit now and couldnt see using photoshop without it.
RyanGadz 1 year ago
@RyanGadz Yep, I did the same thing. I'm real happy with the Intuos4. Now I just need to get Photoshop. The transition from material to digital is not easy on the wallet.
deadithink 1 year ago
@deadithink
There are some free drawing rograms that i think are better than photoshop, if what you want is to draw. I'm trying ArtWeaver and Twisted Brush right now, and It's awesome!! It's like drawing/painting with real brushes/pencils. You can look for some "demo" videos here in youtube.
xantyleonhart 1 year ago

Do you prefer Painter before Photoshop?
If you do would you mind giving me a phew points about why?
jimmarn 1 year ago
@jimmarn see... the new photoshop CS5 comes with many brushes options.. I really love it!.. and they are made for the wacom tables as well!
Painter of course comes with a lot of pens and draws instruments..Painter for sure is more professional for drawing, sketching and painting use!

@hemidesign what would you say about Sai paint tool?
banhotsu 10 months ago
@banhotsu Get it if you can, its a really good program, especially if you like doing lineart. Its better than photoshop and painter in that regard...which are both honestly extremely overpriced. SAI is just as good for painting, and better some people think..they may be right too.
goulter1985 10 months ago
@goulter1985 so corel painter X and Sai is almost the same.. just a different layout?
banhotsu 10 months ago
@goulter1985 oh, and what about the intous4 small? im thinking of getting it.... is it too small? or is it alright?
banhotsu 10 months ago
@banhotsu I personally havnt used the small ones. Though Im told they work just fine. Honestly the difference between bamboo and intuous is very small. Tilt sensitivity doesnt add much at all, the added pressure levels dont either. The quality of my art is the same on bamboo and intuos. Using intuos is "professional" tho so they say, as is using Photoshop compared to SAI for painting, tho SAI does just as good if not better for painting. "Industry standard" is used often in CG, means nothing tho

Hi! Your artwork is amazing, and it seems like the Intuos4 works very well for you, I'm considering buying one, for the same reasons as you use yours, sketching and artwork. But I have a few questions, 1. Does it come with Coral Painter and Photoshop? 2. What size would you recommend, the small one, wireless, etc. etc.?
Thanks!

OneOfThemFunnyGuys 1 year ago
thank you "OneOfThemFunnyGuys" ... yes..its kind difficult to adapt to this table!
especially when you're using the small size!
the new version from Intuos "Cintiq 21UX" is the best and the most realistic table out there..but..costs $2000 (you can draw direct to the screen)
my advice for you is: try before you buy...make sure to get the medium or large size from the Intuos 4 table's
hemidesign 1 year ago
@hemidesign actually at best buy intuos4 is $200 not $2000 great sketch though :)

Hello hemidesign,
i'm a huge fan of your work and respect your skill's and patience drawing such beautiful art.
AirFreaKz 1 year ago
@AirFreaKz Thank you so much for your words AirFreakz....yes, you must have pro-skills to do that... I used to be a comic book teacher years ago!...And you need to practice to be familiar with the tablet!
the medium size is great option...go ahead!
hemidesign 1 year ago
@hemidesign Well, i was drawing a few things with my hand on a scrap paper and it seems to be like i can learn it, because my basics are quiet good for the first time drawing some 3D things. But getting used to that tablet and learning stuff even if it takes long, do you think it will be possible to draw at least such nice things? Because a few people told me that you gotta have the talent since your born, and taht kinda disappointed and demotivated me.. :(
AirFreaKz 1 year ago

Hi from Spain!
Good Sketch.
Thanks for your skteching.
jorari71 1 year ago
Hi!
Whats the difference betwen painter 11 and painter x? And what about Corel painter sketchpad? Thank you.
sh4rkc 1 year ago
@mrartforlife ... try to get the bigger size (medium or lager Intuos4) ... more space you have on the table to draw = more area you have to draw finest details!
The Intuos4 is considered the BEST table out there.. with 2048 points of pressure!
You can feel the real pen on your hands!
my best for you!
hemidesign 1 year ago
when you are drawing what program is better photoshop or painter
bubblesofhell 1 year ago
@bubblesofhell Painter is way better than Photoshop... Painter has a HUGE options of brushes and other drawing tools... make sure you choose painter X
my best for you MR. Bubble
hemidesign 1 year ago
@bubblesofhell hey, in most cases painter is superior as far as realism goes, what I mean is, it feels more like using real traditional media, but there are times when photoshop is better, if you want to make prints or make something that can be easily changed later - illustrator is what you should use. Do some more research on it I'd say, there are a lot of pros and cons of both.

To Lewis 1985,
some people could spend their whole life trying to "take it" talent and never get it while some are born with that "Gift". Marcello makes this great art seems easy.
My opinion is not a critic of his work, I'm not an expert, but my respect and admiration to an immenselly GIFTED man.
