In ALL farming baby cows are taken from their mother within the first couple of days, all cows are forced to produce 10 times as much milk as they would in the free, ALL baby cows are killed, go into the veal-production (=horrible life and death) or follow their mothers' s footsteps as slaves, ALL male chicken in the egg production are killed less than a day old - and I could go on and on and on. @mischamies it's called free-range, certified organic farms, they exist pretty well everywhere, only makes up about 2 percent of farms though. But they most certainly exist
@Roozazzle There are no effective, enforced legal standards to the terms 'free-range' and 'organic'. Free-range can mean as little as a pen with hundreds or thousands of animals having limited access to a 2x2 foot square of dirt.

This video is heartbreaking. I was a veggie for two years, but my iron got too low and my body wouldn't absorb it via pills. (not sure why.) It's scenes like this that make me so proud to be raising my babies as a vegetarians. Me included. Trying to go vegan ATM. I can't make my husband do it but I am always watching things like this so it'll happen one day. Is that animals life really worth the two minutes it'll be on your plate for? No. You can never put a price on life. While these video's are horific, I am so glad that people are watching them, it takes nothing to become more educated and you learn so much from watching it.

Farm factories is the cause of ALL bird and swine flus that we suffer. Seriously. It is easy to see why how they are forced to live -daily filth, agony, stress, pain and suffering. And crammed together. Kept alive with daily doses of antibiotics, resistant bugs occur and immune compromised animals from stress makes it VERY EASY to catch viral diseases like bird and swine flus.
I find that hard to believe, given the number of non-factory farm avians out there, but I am sure it is a contributing factor.

We must ensure that every single animal, whether on the farm, in a laboratory, or in someone's home, lives humanely and dies humanely. I was born, raised, and live on a farm. Have fattened cattle and hogs at one time or another. I have seen livestock get sick, injured, and die. Stuff happens on a farm no matter how good the operator. Are there some problems out there, sure, but it's not the norm. My comments about visiting a farm is toward the sane thinking people out there and not the people with an agenda.

I think your talking about normal farms tha's old style, however, in this video, it's talking about factory farming, which is basicly, "fit as many animals as you can in little spaces." That was an old way of cutting the tips of the beak off. Now they are treated with a ultraviolet light at 1 day old and the tip of the beak painlessly falls off after a few days. Belive me I have seen this done many times.

In ALL farming baby cows are taken from their mother within the first couple of days, all cows are forced to produce 10 times as much milk as they would in the free, ALL baby cows are killed, go into the veal-production (=horrible life and death) or follow their mothers' s footsteps as slaves, ALL male chicken in the egg production are killed less than a day old - and I could go on and on and on. This video is heartbreaking. I was a veggie for two years, but my iron got too low and my body wouldn't absorb it via pills. (not sure why.) Did you know pig and poultry meats often carry MRSA and VRE due to antibiotic abuse (daily administration) to keep them alive in pure filth. The best thing anyone of us can do is try to educate others on the issues but please do it in a kind tolerant manner. Many people have no idea about where their food comes from. Vegetarians and Vegans need to step up and be patient and be kind. Otherwise people shut down. There are many people out there who are waiting to be awaken.

As long as people educate terrorists and child molestors in an open and tolerant manner. I respect a child-molesting vegan 1000x more than a celibate non-vegan, because it is my First Amendment right to. I don't care how politically incorrect some anti-vegans think it is.

Farm factories is the cause of ALL bird and swine flus that we suffer. Seriously. It is easy to see why how they are forced to live -daily filth, agony, stress, pain and suffering. And crammed together. Kept alive with daily doses of antibiotics, resistant bugs occur and immune compromised animals from stress makes it VERY EASY to catch viral diseases like bird and swine flus.

I find that hard to believe, given the number of non-factory farm avians out there, but I am sure it is a contributing factor.
The best action - let all those who eat poultry die. Don't give them any medical treatment whatsoever.
I just finished a small degree (Associate) in Biotechnology. I am outspoken for animal rights. But, my PhD in Mathematics taught me infinitely more about the world - scientifically and socially.

I've been VEGAN for years and years and my check ups and labs are all perfect. Funny thing about it when I invite my meat eating friends for dinner they can't tell what I make is completely animal free. They swear there is meat and cheese in it! -nope!

No wonder the products that result are so low in quality. You reap what you sow. There are alternatives. After eating grass fed beef raised the right way by real farmers I wouldn't go back to it even if it wasn't inhumane.

Even 1 case, when many here are shown, is 1 too many. What you say about "take care of your animals and they will take care of you" is true. We must ensure that every single animal, whether on the farm, in a laboratory, or in someone's home, lives humanely and dies humanely. We do better than this for prisoners in prison or on death row, why would we NOT do it for those who cannot speak for themselves?

tons of animals have lost their homes because of the fields the crops r grown in
its almost impossible to live a life that doesnt have a negetive effect on animals
pigs cows chickens etc may get screwed as individuals but the species benefits because of its guaranteed survival

Your comment doesnt make much sense to me. This isnt any less of an issue just b/c theres other issues in the world. The video says over 95% of animals raised for food are raised this way - its actually closer to 98%. That means billions of animals every year. This is factory farming. Not the small percentage of animals raised by actual farmers. You cant blur the two. Defending this treatment, are you? Nice one.

the poor animals in these slaughterhouses are animals that most people don't understand. they have faces, feelings, hearts, and intelligence.. no different than any pet you own. so why eat them? be a vegan or vegetarian!

I always try to avoid these videos since they ruin my whole week... but I saw this on someone's myspace and was dragged in. It made me ball my eyes out, and I'm still crying. This is repulsive. I've been vegetarian for a year and thankfully went vegan this year, and I will NEVER contribute to this ever again until these factories change their ways.

have you not herd of the world food shortages?? i have seen one of these factory farms over in Germany and i have never seen a cleaner place in my life!!! it would put some of our on farms too shame!! and for your info i am a farmer! and factor farming is just a bigger scale than what we have here! yea these videos do make it look bad but its not all like that!!!!

Have YOU not heard how much grain and water it takes to raise livestock on these massive scales of production where there is an enormous amount of waste and OVER production of animals and yet people are indeed starving in this world while we waste these resources?? I can argue this to death with you and I will win. Which is precisely why California passed Prop 2 on Tuesday. People are realizing that unfortunately this IS the standard FOR NOW... but not forever!

Food would run out? Get real! Why dont you spend 5 minutes on Humane Society or Farm Sanctuarys websites? Theres plenty of this footage & people are sick of animals being treated this way. You need to open your eyes and quit protecting corporate greed. Youre crazy to want to help fatten their wallets and give this a pass. And home farmers who are losing their jobs to these factories find you offensive. They dont treat their animals like this. This, is Factory Farming and its horrible.

I just can't believe these videos. I mean the cruelty that is endemic to these factory farm situations. I'm glad HSUS and Mercy for Animals is exposing these crimes. It makes me sick to think that Steve Mendell, the owner of Westland/Hallmark Slaughterhouse in Chino, lives in a multi-million dollar oceanfront house in Corona del Mar while his workers abuse helpless animals. I'm glad they were convicted of cruelty. Plus they put tainted food into the system. Just sickening! I'm voting Yes on 2!

I was born, raised, and live on a farm. Have fattened cattle and hogs at one time or another. I have seen livestock get sick, injured, and die. Stuff happens on a farm no matter how good the operator. Are there some problems out there, sure, but it's not the norm. My comments about visiting a farm is toward the sane thinking people out there and not the people with an agenda.

I think your talking about normal farms tha's old style, however, in this video, it's talking about factory farming, which is basicly, "fit as many animals as you can in little spaces." I doubt you were born, and raised on a factory farm, did you ever see a chicken without a beak in your farm? if you didn't, your probably not talking about factory farms, cuz they cut off the beaks of chicken so they don't fight eachother over territory.

When a chicken has a "beak treatment" It is just the tip of the beak that is removed, it is a painless procedure. Get your facts right.

That was an old way of cutting the tips of the beak off. Now they are treated with a ultraviolet light at 1 day old and the tip of the beak painlessly falls off after a few days. Belive me I have seen this done many times.
