Hello mate, i hope if you can help me. I have to pictures and i want to have 1 picture as a background and the other picture [on the first picture] as a front.
When i do that either one of those pictures only shows.
@YNeedPeopleLikeMe Are you talking about vector art or regular images like jpeg? If you are working with regular images it is better to use transparent PNG files. You can overlay them in Illustrator and they maintain their transparency. Does that answer the question?
@YNeedPeopleLikeMe Vector art is artwork that is drawn in Illustrator. It is just lines and curves connected with points. I'm not sure what your problem is because vector art will lay over other vector art? Maybe try saving the 2 pieces of artwork on separate layers?
@derekbanas ok now i understand. this is my question. i have two vector arts, i want to have one vector art as a background and the other vector art on the background without disapearing.
i dont have some of these tools, i have cs5, but i am missing the perspective selection tool and i cannot find out how to put things in perspective without it...
@derekbanas thanks man! i notice a slight bit of lag... when resizing images for example.
does it ever become an issue. would 3.4ghz and 8gb be a better option. im going into graphic design for school will be using much of the many creative suite programs.
@SOLE1PRODUCTIONS More ram always helps. I have a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4G with 2 terabytes of hard drive space. Make sure your hard drive is big enough. Macs like to have large hard drives. My computer never slows down, but I normally only have a few programs running at a time
i think you are professional...in illustrator so maybe you can guide me..i have a problem with illustrator cs5 actually i wanted to convert the shape of an jpeg image from rectangle to rounded rectangle ..but everytime i do this the image became disappear ..its big problem for me cause i tried alot of stuff i really need to change the shape of images from rectangle to rounded rectangle
@derekbanas so you are professional and u realy can guide me ..i have the same problem with even illustrator work some of this icon i change very easy to rounded rectangle and some its being to black all and if this icon containing blue its change to blue all ..i will upload my problem video maybe from video u realy understand what i have
@aIexrules I have a bunch of illustrator tutorials. Check those out for some examples of what you can do. It is basically a professional drawing and layout application
would you give me a tutorial for fashion design? more to the flat sketch? i have to work with the grid lines, rules, im totally blank with illustrator, never use it before and what i just download is the cs5 version, hope you can help me . thanks before :)
@Kyuhaewon So do you want to see how to create figure drawings in illustrator? I can do that. I'm a pretty good artist. I'm not a fashion designer, but I think I can teach you all of the techniques you need.
@derekbanas : yes, like how to do a t-shirt design in illustrator, or how to create some random clothes, i just need to learn it from basic , i watched other channel in youtube, and i think they made the t-shirt from grid line, rules and all that, but because mine is cs5 version, i had no clue ;p , thx! really hope u can help me out! :)
dwakeleysr@dandspress.comI am trying to convert jpegs etc to real clean eps images like logos from clients webpage to vector images for banners . I havent been able to get the quality that I am looking for.. never crisp and clean as I am shooting for.. my email address is . I haven't subscribed but If I can get this down I will feel confident that your product is taking me in the right direction.. Thanks alot for your help
@chosen1007R You can only place artwork in perspective by selecting it with the Perspective Selection Tool. You don't move objects around with the perspective grid tool. Tell me if that fixes your problem?
Hi! I'm in quite a pickle and cant figure out what to do. I've finished drawing an illustration in illustrator , and do now wish to use the perspective grid to make a building / billboard scene. But no matter how many times I tried to add the picture to the grid, as seen on tutorials is just dragging it over the grid, didnt get it to work. nothing happens, merely cover the grid like normal layer-over-layer.
@Saigonsharpnel Have you tried clicking on the different sides of the square in the upper right hand corner? It shows up when you click on the perspective tool. I think that is what you're looking for?
@derekbanas I've tried changing the sides and so forth, I read on a site that it cant handle drawings from photoshop etc. in other words, a drawing saved in photoshop as an jpg, wont work with perspective? But i drew it in illustrator, so what's the problem? I didnt draw it in perspective from the start, I drew it as a separate file, and then pasted it in with the file containing the perspective.
@Saigonsharpnel I think I know what your doing? You can only place artwork in perspective by selecting it with the Perspective Selection Tool. You don't move objects around with the perspective grid tool. Tell me if that fixes your problem?
i know that you can copy a picture into a text without outlining the text, but Is it possible to have a 2 jpg. pictures do the same effect. (one of the pictures is of a title.)
Also is it possible to modify or alter a jpg. that is a texted title like accual text.
what is the difference between photoshop illustrator and fireworks? i really only know how to use soundboard photoshop after effects and premier pro out of all of the adobe stuff but i would like to know the difference so i can c if i need to learn the rest of them
@krispx2 Photoshop is used to edit regular images like jpeg and gif (I have a tutorial on it). Illustrator is used to edit vector art like I showed (Lines and points). I mainly use Fireworks to automate editing on a bunch of images at once. Like change all the jpeg images in a folder into gifs.
@MathewWard1234 Illustrator has symbol, brush and border libraries. You can also create custom versions of each and store them for later use. Is that the information you were looking for?
Wow man! you are the man ! this is best video on Adobe. could you please continue posting videos.. i mean starting with beginners.. and going up..please. Thank you .. We appreciate.
@J4archae Glad you liked it. I did 3 other Illustrator tutorials. Did you see them? Part 3 is probably the most basic. After you watch them tell me what else needs covered and I'll get to it. Thanks :)
Great Review very useful :D Just wondering does it have the ability to save and open files from previous version because my school still has CS2 and if I have CS5 will it be easy for me to transfer work from on version to another?? Thanks :DD
@derekbanas yeah, and improving 3D animation would be great... Maybe not in such an amazingly way as Autodesk programs but at least good enough to give a 2D animation some 3D illusion...
@yudomax I agree Flash could be even more amazing with a few changes. They seriously need to work on the internals and the player itself. It should also determine optimal frame per second and require less tweaking. Maybe some day it will live up to how great it could be. Almost there but not quite.
Would you please continue making more videos, on illustration, photoshop, indesign. You are very clear in your explanations and so helpful. Thanks a lot.
@kerabas1 I'd be happy to. What would you like me to cover. I'm planning on creating a tutorial on what is a technically good layout, composition, etc. Art is subjective though. Glad I helped :)
I would suggest anything about tools and it's up to you what you can come up with.
In photoshop I tried different ways (unsuccessfully) to fix a blurry, noisy, and low resolution picture. What would you suggest on this example? Thank you.
@Creative0Mind Part 3 of this Illustrator tutorial shows how to use all of the basic tools I don't cover in part 1 or 2. If that doesn't help tell me what other things to cover and I will :)
thanks! i'm looking forward to see your next tutorials! i've never used illustrator before, so i have to learn a lot! i only worked in photoshop cs and cs3...
@lepapillonrouge I have 2 more Illustrator tutorials that cover how to use all of the tools. I'm glad you liked it! If you have any questions or other tutorials you'd like to see just ask.
@bigsexyinsect I drew the smiley face. The image with the hands shaking was imported by clicking File --> Place. You can import all kinds of different file formats using Place. Does that answer your question? Thanks
@griptick Me cool? No, I actually used a PC for the most part over the last 15 years. I just recently got a Mac and Illustrator is nearly identical on PC or Mac. I changed because I wanted a operating system that was more like Linux, but gave me access to software like Illustrator. I hope these tutorials help. Thanks.
@derekbanas Well i invented an OS that is based on Linux that works with ALL windows programs! Yes i will start selling it soon. As of right now the driver model only supports monochrome displays and 8bit sound. But im sure that it will look just as good as a 14bit monitor will any way right? Also, there are no future plans to support color monitors.
@Cathrineeeeee Yes I can. I do have 2 additional videos on Illustrator that you can find on my channel. I'm planning to draw cartoons in Illustrator for my cartoon animation tutorial. Is there anything specific you are looking for? Thanks a bunch
