I think I'll get a mac laptop & she can do all the fun jam-along stuff in this vid. I can even see myself hashing out new song-ideas w/ the loops. What's the cheapest Mac laptop I can go with? Is the soundcard better with the more powerful MAC laptops? Thanks!

Yeah you need to stop with being a little prick. and so what if people suck cock

  • You also need to learn grammar. It seems like you don't know what commas and full stops are and how to use them.

  • God i fucking know i'm retarded. You don't have to point that out

  • we're on youtube, not writing an essay.

    calm down.

  • does garage band come with leopard? will it only work on new imacs and macbooks? thanks

  • Will work on all computers made in the last few years. The new iLife 09 needs Leopard to run it i think.

  • thanks, so does it need much spec to run because i was thinking of running it on a powerbook,

  • stfu logan you fat american fuck!

  • u snap to much.

  • how do you copy and paste the pans and volume adjustments?

  • Annoying ass. No wonder u have no friends

  • Yeah... Likewise. The only difference is I have 60,000 views.

    NOOB!

  • 60.000 views just cause people thinks it´s going to be sth...different. Dude, this´s not a tutorial, it´s just YOU playing.

    Anyway,Keep it up!

  • some videos have over a million...... but 60k is still really good

  • What a dork. I thought, well, maybe at least he plays the guitar really good. Nope. Just a whole lot of sucking going on in this video.

  • uhm its like 10% there buddy. and how is australia better? what do you guys have besides kangaroo's?

  • well your a mental giant...

  • what do you have to do to have all the bass lines made i think those things are called "bucles" what do i need to get the "bucles"?????

  • what kind of chord or cable do you use to connect your guitar to your mac. I really want to do this with my mac but i need to buy the chord first. just asking for some preferences!

  • Music shops sell 1/4 inch-to-1/8 inch (3.5 mm) adapter plugs that just go on the end of your guitar lead. They only cost a couple bucks. I just plug my guitar to my pedal, then the pedal goes straight into the input on the Mac -- the one next to the headphone jack on iMacs -- using the adapter plug. On the Apple site they sell the Guitar-to-Mac cable, but it's 50 bucks, so ah, screw that.

  • Is this what you have to use if you are a partner?

  • are you Yahoo serious?

  • G'day, great video and nice playing, im looking into the macbook , is it possible to use a faster spinning external hard drive for recordings on garage band?

Also could u play back what u recorded so we can hear how it sounds straight after recording?

ps can u save or make your songs straight to mp3 for the web or what ever?

  • Hey. Yeah you can use an external HD for more demanding recording projects such as multi track recording. 7200rpm minimum.

I don't have the original file so I can't show you how it sounded with no fx. Pretty darn dry that's for sure!

Yeah you can export straight to MP3 or AAC for web.

  • Yeah, you can listen to it straight after recording it. I just plug my guitar to my Distortion Factory pedal and then from that straight to the Mac. It sounds really good, but would sound better if I had a reverb n' delay pedal as well, so I just use the Garage Band effects to create that sweeter sound.

  • lol my mom has this on her computer but she didnt get any preset tracks and her computer is so full i cant download em

  • Sounds like "Double-Trouble" in my laptop computa!

    LOL

  • Wow I wish I had one of my macbooks from school. Ohhh damn, they were so nice and I couldn't even take them home :'( oh well

  • ever heard of stealing?

  • haha lol

  • Check My videos For Mac's 101 videos!

  • Funny ;)

  • snap!

  • He's Aussie. Only in America do you pronounce it guh-RAHJ

  • @JAWZxz No he's English. Apart from the accent, no Aussie would admit to a hyphenated surname.

  • @somelogicplease He can't be English. I'm english myself, I can tell

  • @JAWZxz Only the English say 'wehk' when they mean 'work'. He's not Aussie - I am and I can tell. There are about 50 UK accents and maybe you don't know them all, or maybe he's neither - there are many other possibilities.

  • @somelogicplease Yeah, but he said something along the lines of "majoring" or HSEs or something like that. In England, we have GCSEs and A-Levels.

  • @somelogicplease AND, have you also not noticed that he's a representative of an Australian website?

  • That nerd plays a mean guitar damn!

  • eliot man so i have my macbook pro and i have to thank you for it.

i need to get some more program and need to be tought a few things.

    thanks man

    dig the tutorial

  • haha, thats a lush video!! really funny! nice job :D

    xx

  • i know the KID who invented this program XD

  • so.....

  • i dont thhink a kid invented it....

  • not a bad guitar player

  • Pretty cool demo!

  • how did you plug the guitar in the computer

  • Guitar plugged into > MOTU 828 Mk II firewire soundcard> into laptop.

  • Guitar plugged into > MOTU 828 Mk II firewire soundcard> into laptop.

  • could you plug in your guitar directly into to your mac (probably via some cable connector thing where you put in your guitar cable, and out comes a usb cable???) Im hoping you can record a guitar part, and save it onto your mac, and email it to a friend or something, that would be sweet! I know nothing about macs

  • jmacomber16 - The "cable connector thing" which you speak of is called an "audio interface". The guitar cord (or keyboard or microphone cord) goes into the audio interface and a USB cord comes out of the interface and into the computer (Mac or PC). The audio interface can range from $100 to a few thousand and you can find them at a local music shop or on the web.

  • hahahaaha

  • Cool shredding!

  • i thought you said his shredding was cool??

    but i guess you lied

  • hey eliot loved your playing, could you tell me if there is a free download of garage band or something similar, imve got no money to buy it thanks and keep up the good work.....

  • Sorry no download. It comes free on all macs, otherwise it's a purchase of iLife 08.

  • Awesome playing, you're quite animated.

  • so could you record your full band. straight through a mic direct into the mac. drums guitar etc? and make it sound like a professionaly mixed song?

  • Yeah. Garage Band offers multitrack recording. For a full band though you would be better off using Logic 8.

  • how u going Eliot, did you have additional speakers connected to the macbook, it sounds great

    cheers

  • I did but what your hearing is what I recorded in Garage Band. I then exported that and synced it up with the video footage in Final Cut Pro. I do use the Harmon Kardon Soundsticks and they do sound fantastic.

  • hey do u have to have a instrument plugged in?

  • No. If you are using an acoustic you can use the built in mic if you are using a macbook (pro) or an iMac to record your instrument or voice.

  • dudes dont behating on the eliot, unless you want to be hated on.

  • how do i connect my guitar? I've been looking for that all year...

  • if you have a quarter inch jack to headphone jack you can plug it in next to the headphone jack direct from the guitar.

I'm plugged into a firewire sound card here which is connected via Firewire.

  • nice shades

  • my mac doesn't have it

  • yeah it does... they all do. unless u really got screwed or somethin. lol

  • isnt he serious right?....watch his face make me lol

  • Garage Band rocks. I love the facial expressions while you're playing your guitar!

  • Am I the only one that thinks this guys is a little fucking loopy?

  • i was thinking the same :P

  • ya he is pretty damn wierd

  • where do i get GarageBand for Windows XP?

  • Not available for Windows. It's well worth the switch though

    ;-)

  • oh definitly

    i love my mac

  • me too lol

  • nice!

  • ya they are i have one and its sooo fun

  • Is garage band only for MACs?

  • It was originally. But now it's available on PC's too. They say it runs better on mac. But that's only speculation.

  • Not just speculation; It's the truth. PC versions of Mac software are never quite as good as the original Mac versions. It works the other way, too.

  • PCs suck lol

  • amen brother....

    isn't that the truth!!!

  • Are you sure you can use Apple loops when doing your music GCSE?

  • If it's backing, yes. I'm sure you can use it for HSC. As GCSE is the equivalent in the UK i presume it wouldn't be different but I can't be sure. Check the relevant documentation.

  • nicely done

  • thanks

  • Okey ? that wasn't wierd at all

  • hes really weird

and hes in a computer class room

  • is a mac book powerful enough to get the most out of garageband or do i need a mac book pro???

  • You really need a mac book pro with a 7200rpm hard drive to get the most out of Garage Band. If you want to play back or record multiple tracks the mac book slow hard drive can be an issue.

  • I just went on the apple site looked to see how much the hard drive rpm was and its 5400rpm all the macbook pro's are. So how do u get to 7200rpm or was that just a mistake?

  • I have a 7200rpm mbp hard drive. You can upgrade it to 7200.

  • ok thanks

  • no problems.

  • I would actually say it's far more important to have more RAM than it is to go from 5400rpm to 7200rpm.

  • That's only true if you are only using/recording a few tracks... Once you start to try and playback multiple tracks the 5400rpm drive will stutter and choke.

More RAM is good to though

  • Looney :-) funny stuff rock on dude \m/

  • friki...

  • gtp:P

  • Its Austin Powers fuzed with Jack White! rock on you bloody british bastard!

  • lol, don't think he's a Brit.

  • australian

  • lmao, this dude is at my school xD

    yeah, hes aus.

  • you dont have any friends...

...that were good at music. Lol hilariuos

  • ;-) it's true...

  • We live out in the boonies and don't drive. This is great! Beats playing with satellite radio.

  • SO far from shredding...

  • Hilarious man ! great acting (or is it?) , playing and tutorialing !!

  • which loops he uses?

  • nice pony tail

  • Its Austin Powers - groovy baby!

  • very nice

  • ummmmm how do ya use EQ to like reduce the vocals??? cause im the biggest n00b to garageband ever! I heard of logic pro is that good for a girl who only had a vocal talent? or is it more like a real band playin. i wanna learn this so i can become a great musican!!!!! yea well if ya do answer i really appreciate it :D well cyas :D

  • if you really want to be a garageband or mac 'Pro' then they usually give lessons at a Apple Retailer.

i would just try to fiddle around with it...or look at more vids on youtube.

  • I have a question. Can I remove the voice froma song, or silenced it so that only the instruments remain? If it can be done so, how is it done?

Thank you very much for the tutorial, I think it was great!

  • You can't really do it garage band. By applying EQ you can reduce the vocals by playing around and trying to pull down the frequency of the vocals but it's not going to completely remove it. Sorry I'm not more help.

  • Sweet video...like the sarcy humor

  • also could you give me a link of the recording attachment i would need via guitar center, sam ash, etc. (this would be for my band). also can any1 tell me if garage band 3 is worth buying? im on the second version right now. does 3 get new riffs?

  • can you record your own music on a mini mac?

  • yes you can

  • Does it need o be Macbook or can it be just a home computer?

  • It just needs to be a mac. Does not matter which kind (iMac, mac pro etc)

  • Was he running his amp into the mac, or is the guitar going directly into it, and adding effects with garageband or some other program on the mac?

  • I just had plugged direct into the mac then applied a amp sound with in Garage Band.

  • wow thats awesome! , without an amp :o

i can't wait for my macbook! (not a pro though)

and uhm, are there like, many amp models you can choose from? can you configure the MID,TREBLE,DRIVE,BASS, etc... all through the macbook? that would be awesome!

  • Yeah there are lots of sounds and setting to choose from. You can select an amp type (american clean, overdrive, dirty, british clean etc) then apply flangers, phasers, echos and delays etc.

Guitar Rig pro is a great plug that gives you even more sounds.

  • sweet!

i may sound like a retard now but uhm, how do u connect the guitar with the macbook? i mean, what kind of cable?

  • You need a quarter inch to mini jack cable which can be plugged into your audio in jack on the side of your mac book (next to the headphone input)

  • hey i got a band, can u record your guitar, bass, vocals and drums with garage band. and if so how? can u reply to me very soon cause i am planning to buy my own mac book at my local staples buisness depot store...

  • You can't do multi track recording in Garage Band. Get Logic Pro. It is amazing. Best app out there for pro recording. Maybe you can do multitrack in iLife 08 but I am yet to try it.

  • Yes you can record up to 8 tracks at a time.

  • i'd have to disagree and say Pro Tools...especially for people not investing all their money in music...not to mention it comes with it's own hardware

and you CAN multi-track in Garage Band...thats pretty much the point of it...

  • Grrrreeeeaaaat!!!!
