This came from kids going on holiday to Ibiza in the 80's, taking acid and extacy and never coming back. Techno is the bastard love child of George Clinton and Kraftwerk, totally different ;)

Hmmm, techno is quite minimalist in it's style, but have a look on Wiki as it has a good write up. Classic techno tracks in my mind are Underworld, Rez or Cowgirl - both excellent and worth a few listens. Also, a real classic is DJ Misjah & Tim's "Access" , or Cygnus X "Orange Theme"
