I think that the NHL doesnt do enough for the contacts to the head. there is a rule trying to be passed that states that ANY contact to the head will be an automatic penalty and/or a suspension. This would clean up the game immensely

Niedermayer knew it that's why he went shoulder to shoulder. Pronger who routinely elbows people for fun and stomps on legs showed no class when he followed Holmstrom to the boards and elbowed him in the back of the head.

I think that the NHL doesnt do enough for the contacts to the head. there is a rule trying to be passed that states that ANY contact to the head will be an automatic penalty and/or a suspension. This would clean up the game immensely

Yes it's a hard hitting game but at the same time there is a level of respect that is kept on the ice. You don't hit someone from behind, that is the most simple rule there is. Niedermayer knew it that's why he went shoulder to shoulder. Pronger who routinely elbows people for fun and stomps on legs showed no class when he followed Holmstrom to the boards and elbowed him in the back of the head.

Hitting someone from behind is A PENALTY!!! That isn't an opinion, it is in the rulebook. If Holmstrom and Kronwall had hit Pronger the same way that Pronger and Neidermeyer hit Holmstrom, Holmstrom and Kronwall would have each gotten 5 game suspensions and would have had to sit out the rest of the series. End of story.

Bertuzzi served his time and has made contact with Moore about the situation. I am sure he has had many sleepless nights thinking back about that situation and would take it back if he did. As for Pronger, he has never knocked someone out of a career. Sadly, I don't think he will learn his lesson until he does.

Holmstrom rarely gets calls to go his way. It takes two elbows from the back of the head to get a call. Away from his office, Holmstrom is probably the worst NHL skater. He falls all the time. Some people thing it's a diving thing. I'm not saying he never dove, but the man has a hard time staying up. Now, while he is in front of the net, he can't be beat away. He takes more punishment than a red headed step child. All time NHL best in front of the net. Rewrote the book.
