haha...just took HIPAA class as well (emt student)...even if it didn't show the patient's face, this would be a violation of HIPAA...this is digital/video info taken without patient consent in a hospital setting

the way this is treated on scene is to apply pressure at the site of the flail injury along with PPV with supplemental oxygen...

if he's conscious he's not gonna wanna lie down on the stretcher either cause it'll make it harder to breath...

@bklynems first off we both mis spelled it. i think it should be hipaa?? so when you see a patient on the news or what not all of them gave permession to show their faces? ie. Katrina victums... not trying to fight or argue, just saying. also no one knows if the guy gave permisson or not, so if anything wouldn't it be possiable hipaa...?

@bama1375 The media doesnt have to abide by hippa laws, after all they're not employed by any entity that mandates them to adhere to those regulations like EMS/FIRE/Police or ANY hospital personnel... or ANY personnel employed by a company or city that requires their employees to abide be these rules
