Any tips for someone just learning knitting. I've been crocheting for a little over a year, but just learned to knit last week. I'm thinking now I should have started with knitting because I hold my yarn like a knitter when I crochet. I haven't seen anyone else who does that, but that's the only way it feels comfortable to me. I'm rambling, but totally if you have any tips that would be great.
I think a knitting man is sexy. In the beginning, it was men who did the knitting anyway. Go to Peru and the men still do the knitting while it's the women whos job it is to spin the wool.

well at least i know guys are capable of knitting socks. my boyfriend refuses to learn, he just wants to knit squares i thought it was a guy mental block. haha.
Socks are so easy, I'm man that knits them as well. I use size 0. Try getting him to start with bulky yarn and big DPN's, that's how i mastered the sock.
I knit as a relaxing form of almost zen like surrender to the patterns. I'm a programmer by trade and it has a certain beauty to follow instructions instead of compiling them in an application.

I got the pattern from an awesome book called "The new Knitting Stitch Library" which I recommend to anyone who's looking for some really complex knitwork or just a lot of interesting patterns.
