  • @gabirjk1 like

  • its true see ive dublicated 2 = 3 and then the normal 2 and then you just 2<3 then just 3 + 2 = 5 / so its actully right exept you 2/5 then 8/8 witch is 2=5 and 8 - 8 = (5)!!!

thumps up so ppl can see

  • I'm amazed at the people who completely missed the point of the song. I know there's no "right" way to interperet the song but seriously, people just didn't bother to read the lyrics and do their homework did they?

  • Definitely 2 +2 =4, the song speaks of the government makes people think about things as stupid as that 2 +2 =5 :S. this song is based on the history of big brother.

  • @daweedxD No this song is based on the book 1984 by George Orwell. Please check up your facts x.x

  • @daweedxD The 2 + 2 = 5 also comes from the book by George Orwell.

"¿2+2=5?", -no-, "2+2=5", -si-. "Winston no estás poniendo atención -(dolor)- ¿2+2=5?" No, si, no, lo que usted quiera que sea. "Parece que ya estamos avanzando". *1984

  • @hectoreguiluz me agrado tu respuesta +1

  • @victorhernansua El video si me parece de ese libro pero el titulo 2+2=5 sugiere 1984

  • Fuck matematics!! :)

  • Stunning

  • brilliance.

  • Here you go : meaningless

    adjective

without meaning, significance, purpose, or value; purposeless; insignificant: a meaningless reply; a meaningless existence. meaningless song/music

  • @deadelvis68 Oh no! It's not Beethoven Symphony No. 9 in D-minor! It's such a terrible piece of music! Everything that isn't hard is meaningless! No one understands music!

Go fuck yourself. With a cactus. In the ass. No lube.

  • @bvadams1234 Now now children mind your language and behave

  • @deadelvis68 Yeah I know man!! Time signatures that aren't in 4/4 sure are hard aren't they?

  • @deadelvis68

    "meaningless"

    you're a moron

  • @elitet0kr he s a moron.

  • For some reason this song always takes me back to The Bends.

    u.u

  • buenisimo! :DDDDDDDDDD

  • is the title a reference to 1984?

  • very nice song

  • This has nothing to do with mathematics. 2+2=5 is a terminology created by a sociologic who wrote a book about american politics were he meant that the politicans say things that are totally incorrect and paradox, hence, this sociolog said it's like the politicans are saying "2+2=5". Radiohead have alredy admitted they took this terminology and set it as their song title for this song.

  • 1984 is such a great book.

  • KYMATICA!!!!

  • it's about George Orwell's book 1984, that's why when Big Brother says 2+2=5, it equals to 5.

  • What does he say at the beginning?

  • @Diabolicnop It sounds like - 'merci tout le monde'. Video must've been from a french speaking nation.

  • @boru1982 Thank you for replying.

  • They're all very handsome.

  • Yorke & O'Brien = 2 names. Greenwood & Selway = 2 names.

    Radiohead = 5 people.

    2+2=5.

  • @1blanch1 but you realize muse fans have been fans since showbiz time. why dont you go search up muscle museum at astoria 2000 and say that people didnt walk away amazed. and by saying what you said you also dis on other bands like pink floyd who put on great live shows with amazing lights. dont say shit like that...

  • Yeah, I'm not feeling it

    Penetration Penetration

    Yeah, I need it

    Penetration Penetration

    Yeah, I love it, penetration

    Penetration

  • @rocketinmyporcket Fuck off.

  • this is my excuse for maths tomorrow

  • Why is it only showing my views?

  • Just finished 1984... how appropriate.

  • @miloismyedward So then you realize that we ARE living in Oceania? The states headed by Stalin, Mao, Hitler and the like were simply a more obvious form of this social disease where the structure is arranged to coerce the many to toil primarily for the short-term benefit of a few. Where those states had economic systems dominated by politics, the modern West has a political system dominated by economic special interests.

  • @miloismyedward One of the major implications is that the driving forces of political activity have become an anonymous and irresponsible collage of selfish interests. Corruption can no longer be removed by merely ousting a few leaders. The infection of corruption has become systemic and terminal. If humanity is to retain more than approx. 1 billion people, we must take collective responsibility for the global economic system and make it work for not only for us but our future generations also.

  • @miloismyedward I might also understand The Resistance album from Muse now

  • @miloismyedward I'm writing a review for Animal Farm right now for school. :)

  • @miloismyedward haha same

  • @1blanch1 man agreed.....don't have to pick on bellamy though :'(

  • Stop advertising the sea of memories!!!

  • 17 people say that 2+2=4

  • Why is one of the like buttons upisde down? D:

  • playing those songs live is alone a mystery to me..

  • 17 people don't love Big Brother.

  • Those 17 dislikes think that 2+2=4

  • Comment removed

  • It's not... loud... enough!!!!!D:<

  • 2 + 2 = 22

  • braingasm

  • O Radiohead, How I worship thee.

  • When you do 2+2=/=5

But when Chuck Norris does it 2+2=5

  • @Ozku9 Thom Yorke > Chuck Norris

  • @etejuanete3 That's tru.

  • THIS IS NOT BASED ON 1984 OR ANIMAL FARM. IT USES SIMILAR IDEAS AND IS IN SOME WAY RELATED TO IT. THEY DO NOT SHARE THE SAME GOAL.

1984 WAS WRITTEN 60 YEARS AGO. IF THIS WAS BASED ON 1984 IT WOULD BE SO FUCKING OUTDATED. SO IT ISN'T.

Do you guys have so little respect for Radiohead's lyrics that you think they can't come up with their own ideas and have to steal them from someone who wrote before the Cold War had even gotten started?

  • @andymci2 outdated? U must be an idiot, since when the books can be outdated, fucking analphabet

  • @Boldark You don't seem the brightest yourself, but I'm gonna give you a straight answer anyway. The actual concept of a book can never be outdated. That's why this song works - it agrees with the ideas behind 1984. But it is not based on it: a future totalitarian state would not look like the one described by Orwell. The whole fabric of how we think now is totally different. Indeed, this song seems to be bemoaning the consumerist loss of individuality, a subject never touched upon in 1984.

  • 2+2=5 New Laws Remix

    youtube.com/watch?v=z4lAMd3qPIA

  • now that's what i call a LIVE band...:P *_*

  • @peris29revenge

what's so special about their live?

  • @iRiccardusya they can simply play their music live, even better than the studio recordings...

  • @peris29revenge If that is what you call "Live Band", than every second or third band can be called "Live band", while real "Live Band" is a band that can make a show out of its gig, which interacts with the audience and tries to make it become a part of the gig, that plays with the utmost energy and manages to share the atmosphere of any song with everybody else. Sub Focus, Example, Muse, U2, Queen, Aerosmith, Motley Crue, Nine Inch Nails, Metallica etc. are REAL live bands/DJ's

  • @iRiccardusya that's your opinion..some of the bands u said forget what music is(the muse, aerosmith and especially metallica), but other bands like radiohead don't need firework or cool a show to make it interesting for people...they just manage to do this with their music..they interact with people through their music..i'm going to a concert to hear the music and feel the energy not to see a fancy show..:P that's my opinion of course...

  • @peris29revenge Metallica never had really cool shows, just some fire effects. But the way they ALWAYS interact with the crowd is great. I saw them live and I know it. Muse does have crazy shows, I agree, but only because it's Art rock, it's Space rock. And never shall it be more important than them playing. At least till Bellamy loses his voice, I guess. But I quite agree with that shows mustn't be too important at gigs.

  • I dance to whatever I feel like, come see. music from yesterday and today.

  • if 2+2=5, so 1+1=weird fishes?

  • such a powerfull song

  • @LowtherMoobs erhm... is this an occasion in which the 'sarcasm' font is needed or are you serious? if you are just refer to the top comment..

  • @LowtherMoobs Tell that to the author of the book. As well as all the people who have read previously stated book.

  • When the break down happens in the song... that's when I break down.

  • Reminds me of the book 1984

  • nooo...2+2=4 :D

  • z=1 and y=1 => z squared = zy [subtract y squared from each side] => z squared - y squared = zy -y squared [factorise each side] => (z+y)(z-y) = y(z-y) [divide out common term which is (z-y)] => z+y = y [sub in values z=1 and y=1] => 1+1=1 => 2=1 [add 1 to each side] => 3=2 since 2=2 and 2=3 => 2+2=5 Thats right bitches. Thom Yorke knows his fucking maths.
  • @oozium1198 dividing by zero nice try pal.

  • @oozium1198 beautiful

  • @oozium1198 You asshole, the clearly quality of this music or even the lyrics, is not a good reason to say bullshit!

  • Comment removed

  • @oozium1198

    It's actually wrong.

  • Comment removed

  • @oozium1198 Actually it is right and wrong. In theory it is right but in practise it's not right. You could do make 100+99=2 or anything else. And in theory if you know Z=1 and Y=1 you are not allowed to do anything to them.

It is in theory correct but in practise not.

  • @oozium1198 you divided by 0...(z-y)=0

  • @oozium1198 Now do that with 4 real life apples, dumbass. Its a matter of thinking, not something you should try to impress everyone with. Tryhards like you ruin meaning for everyone else.

  • @tacojjj its a song buttercup

  • @suirall I love the song. Im complaining about the fake math.

  • @suirall It's a reference to the story "1984". Because the government brainwashed this guy named Winston about the ways of the mind and said if they wanted to they could make him think 2+2=5. They sent him through torture to make him believe it.

  • @oozium1198 Weird. It still doesn't work.

  • @oozium1198 Obviously not, that method involves dividing by 0 xP Dividing by 0 is the bane of all mathematics.

  • @oozium1198 mistake is in dividing out the common term cause it is 0.you cant divide a number on zero cause the answer is indefinite

  • @oozium1198 i think you mean George Orwell knows his fucking maths

  • @oozium1198 Hahaha very clever, but when you divide out by (Z-Y), if you substitue your original values for Z(1) and Y(1), then you will be dividing by 1-1, which is 0. And you cant divide by zero!!. haha but still really clever

  • @oozium1198 the math is ok 'til (including) the step where division of common term z-y. B4 substitution, we have z+y=y which is not true. The z's from both sides cancel and we have y=0; this is a contradiction of the definition of y=1. All this results from the fact that z=y=1 (if we replace y by z in the first step we have z^2 = z^2 which is true but a redundant statement). Also, you can't continue your proof after obtaining the result 2=1 (because if 2=3 then 2+2 could be equal to 5 or 6).

  • @oozium1198 you cant divide by (z-y) since it is 0 and division by 0 is not defined

  • @oozium1198 The beauty of divide by 0!, all things can be equal when you go to the infinity

  • @oozium1198 you divided by 0 (z-y). But is awesome anyway.

  • @oozium1198 not valid factoring

  • @oozium1198 yup, there's just a little issue: (z-y) = 1-1 = 0 . You can't divide into 0 or it becomes an indetermination. That's rite bitchez!

  • @Mucephei1000 If humans have anything resembling free will, to an outside observer, the sequence of our thoughts and actions will be indeterminate. Therefore, so long as we and our thoughts remain anonymous, we can only be divided by 0.

  • what concert is this?

    :D

  • @brunomcastro1 it was in a music festival called Eurockeennes de Belfort 2007, in youtube you can find the full concert searching by "radiohead erockeennes", good luck, I hope you enjoy it!

  • @ricardohamburger Thank you so much! :D

  • 2+2=4?

  • @bryantskippy you can turn 2 into 2.4, because thats the extreme worth of it. 2.4+2.4=4.8=5

  • Im going to love Thom Yorke , and you can't do anything about it .

  • I remember when this album came out and I put it on for the first time in the car. Now I lovelovelove Kid A and Amnesiac, but when those distorted guitars kicked in at the midpoint of the song, I almost cried tears of joy that Radiohead was finally rocking once again. Was totally spazzing out like Thom does live. (wasn't driving!).

  • I had to sit through an advert for Janet Jackson concert tickets to watch this video. Way to nail your demographic, EMI.

  • @AbortedHitlerCock THAT SUCKS!!! haha

  • 16 people are math instructors

  • @jeffdadude87 AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

  • @jeffdadude87 Usually when people say "x people are y" on Youtube I facepalm but this one actually made me smile.

  • thom resembles Franz Kafka.

  • @karmicpunch Really? I don't see any resemblance.

  • Dead crowd need to die once again. This time for real.

  • @Allor1994 Maybe they wanted to hear Radiohead instead of a thousand people screaming.

  • @mascotbeaver104 yeah, but believe me, artists really appreciate not being dead. you don't have to scream, just dance

  • I aint dyin for anyones sin's

  • Plus 1 for the songname. You got it? plus 1? never mind.

  • @udetje ..

  • @udetje Ohh man! I see what you did there! GJ. A plus to you.

  • I thought 2+2=6

  • @shane71998

now its scouting for girls -_-

  • Its awesome that the live version is the official. That means Radiohead is awesome live or in the studio.

  • when i read the last sentance of 1984 i was shocked. when i heard this song.... the shock is still lasting.

    penetration.

  • geeks get out of the comments. 2+2 is not = 5.

orwell was trying to make a point that something as logical as 2+2 with a clear answer can make people believe the wrong answer only because a high level authority says so. Big Brother tells you u're a pizza, and that's what you are. because he says so. people are not allowed to think and interpret the news and information put in front of them in a totalitarian world.

hence, if he says 2+2=5, accept it, because it's right. even when it's wrong.

  • 2+2≠4! :D
