Taiwanese(I assume that's what language this is) sure sounds different from Japanese. They may use the same writing system, but they don't sound anything alike.
You obviously know nothing about Asian culture. Of course Taiwanese sounds different. They are speaking Mandarin Chinese w/a slightly different accent than what you hear from Mainland China. Btw! No they do not use the same writing style, although modern Japanese writing still uses kanji (Chinese characters) in their writing every now and then. Most of the Japanese letters are hiragana and katakana forms for foreign words and names.
What are you talking about? The same writing system? Taiwan uses the traditional Chinese characters, and Japan has its own writing system (their kanji even look somehow different from the Chinese characters used in Taiwan and China).
