@nytmstr did you know that Lee Marvin was a liberal Democrat. He opposed the Vietnam War and declared his support for the gay rights movement in a January 1969 interview with Playboy magazine? He publicly endorsed John F. Kennedy in the 1960 presidential election. Facts never mean much to you republicants, do they?
@newrulz2005 Fact is JFK was pro war and anti-homosexual. And if JFK were alive today he would be considered a right wing conservative. Just read about him and his beliefs and his policies. But then again you are a liberal and facts, common sense and the truth do get in the way of your brainwashing.
A young man who does not have what it takes to perform military service is not likely to have what it takes to make a living. Today's military rejects include tomorrow's hard-core unemployed.
6:11 So glad Violent Saturday got a shout - that is one helluva under-rated movie - if you are a fan of Lee Marvin I urge you to watch it.... 20th Century Fox, 1955.
Lee was one of the great actors that came out of World War 2. Great interview from John Gallagher. He allows Lee to really express himsef and it flows brilliantly. Great actor. Underated. Won an oscar for playing two parts in the one film. RIP Lee
Harvey cartwright aka JohnRogersly aka PeterFirthFan aka FrankClanton: TO ALL BLOGGERS;BEWARE! This asshole is now calling his or herself FrankClanton-and we really need to band together and GET THIS FOUL TROLL ASS'S ACCOUNT SUSPENDED! LISTEN GOOD;AND RESPOND; BLOGGERS!
Lee Marvin, Robert Ryan, Neville Brand, Audie Murphy, Charles Durning & so many cinema stars were actually in combat. So called "super patriot" John Wayne NEVER even served in the armed forces. Easy to be a "hawk" when you're not in any actual danger. Turns out that a lot of pro-war voices never got close to danger, much less served in uniform. I think many of them would change their tune pretty dang fast if they found themselves actually in harms way.
My Goddddddd this brings back memories. I am starting to reflect on all of the GREATEST ACTORS, DIRECTORS, simple yet compelling stories or movies that even kids could watch in the later 60's - 80's. I miss Telly Savalas, Steve McQueen, Ryan O'Neal, George C. Scott, John Wayne, Charles Bronson. If we could have more shows that reflected more of a moral obligation to be better people it would be the greatest accomplishment or tribute to our society we could give.
Awesome....A Marvin fan. My fav is Emperor of the north because I am a railroad and hobo fan. Probably the only Hobo movie ever made. Ernest Borgnine is still going to. He was awesome in this movie. Sadistic conductor
There can in now way be a comparison of the real actors of years gone by and the liberal Anti-American scum today.

Marvin was very anti-war, as reflected by one of his favourite films Hell in the Pacific.
