you dont even have to try to defeat the thresher maw. your squad can do it for you, WITH ASSAULT RIFLES. my gosh bioware give me a challenge. i alwyays beat this in a minute or 2. never get suspensed to kill it before 5 minutes.

@ItamarO93 It's not needed. Just be precise in your shots and don't do anything too stupid like let it it hit you with its attack and you'll kill it. The Cain is overkill with a punk like the Thresher Maw.

@DmonkeyD1994 The research counter is where Mordin is, on the combat deck, and does not require any conversations with crew members for its access. Besides, you can only get 1 upgrade per crew member, so Garrus' one upgrade was the Thanix Cannons.

Rocket Launcher is one of the worst heavy weapons for boss battles. The best is the Cain, it's definitely the easiest, but the particle beam will probably do the trick with less ammo. This goes for all boss fights. Rockets suck, because they're so slow that the boss can dodge. Same for the grenade launcher. Stick to cain and particle beam when you're going big game hunting.

I took out the Thresher Maw with just the default N7 armor and the Vindicator assault rifle on insanity as a soldier class.

this achiev is easy and can be done by simple cover based shooting cover based shooting and if you want without using heavy amo did it on insanity multiple times as a soldier When youre back is to the button then go forward and to the right theres a colum there you can hiide behind go there straight away when this fight starts just hide when he spits shoot when he doesnt hell move between the stairs then hide behind the things that look like old turbines

When I was playing on Insanity difficulty, I thought I'm not going to kill it since it'll be really hard. Then it appeared that Varrens and Kilxens are of more trouble to take down than the Tresher Maw. Fightning it IS easy even on Insanity, just make sure that your second teammate have Warp or Incinerate. If you'll have it - it's just better. Hide behind those indestructible poles and shoot whenever you have the occasion - you'll kill it without problems. Don't use heavy weapons, it's useless.

This video exaggerates the difficulty of this, you have 5 minutes to do it, which is a fair amount of time. I just got out my Viper Sniper and blasted the hell out of it, which actually kills it faster than using heavy weapons.

@DIVISION216 In mass effect 2 there are no same sex relationships apart from kelly your yeoman. Shes the only one you can have the relationship with as male or female shepard. This isn't however a relationship that unlocks the paramour achievement.

If you want to take that thing down on insanity real easy, do a playthrough on easy, get the m900 cain and the playthrough again on insanity. u still get the m900 cain, and fully upgraded, i think it takes 2 shots and 15 shots with the widow anti-matter rifle! GOOD LUCK!

Theres a much more easier way to kill thresher maw. These some sort of crap pile on the other side that works very well as a cover and you can shoot straight at tresher but he cant hit you =)

I used the Collector Beam and an assault rifle on this boss, easy to kill it (First try and another dead Maw, hate those things). Number 1 rule is to keep hitting it, make sure you have full heavy weapons ammo and if you run out then collect the spares if your having trouble (I didnt need to). Put enough holes in it and it will die no question

I just did it last night on normal with a sub machine gun and heavy pistol ( Vanguard btw, cause it's my favorite class :3) with flame/armour piercing ammo and brought it down, cause, well it's health is armour, so it's ME2 common sense. Not to mention I brought the wrong heavy weapon to the fight and had to improvise x3. I thought it would be nice to let any new guys know in case you wonder if there were non heavy arms ways of doing this boss battle. =3
