  • i dont know a damn thing about planting and correct me if im wrong but isnt it to late in the season to be planting foods. winter is right around the corner

  • @tanker0wns1 No sir it's not too late to be planting garden, or it wasn't a few weeks ago. I've now lettuce that's a foot tall and ready to eat. I've more green onions than I can shake a stick at, and when the soil warms enough in the spring they will have a head start on forming bulbs. The spinach might like a few leaves as a covering, but when the snow clears I should have plants that are well rooted and ready to be the first food I get - carrots too if the venison don't get them.

  • Glad to see everything is still looking good, you have a lot planted for the spring, i havent tried that yet, are there only certain things that i can plant? Need to put up a video, but i planted potatoes awhile back and they are just now coming up, im hoping that i can throw some straw on top and let them get a little bigger. Looking foward to the fall garden updates.

  • @gardengrl80 As far as I know there's not a lot that can be planted in the fall to harvest in the spring. The only success I've had is with onions, spinach, and carrots. I assume other root vegetables would be OK. What surprises me is that spinach can over winter. Potatoes are supposed to be OK as far as keeping them stored in the ground, but the top part of the plant will be killed by frost. Garlic should be OK, but I haven't tried it yet.

  • Wow! That green manure planting is up high! Your garden is looking good.

  • @JaxRL Well I hope your seeds arrive before it gets too cold to plant them. :(

  • Nice job. I got a good fall harvest of mustard greens and kale I need to cut down and cook up. Love your videos.

  • I have one bed with lettuce, carrots, chard, and onions. Still want to plant some garlic over winter. Yours looks good. That Virginia Wind sent some to Illinois today... Looks good....Paula

  • @Allen2045 I planted some carrots too, but they aren't showing their faces ye so I didn't put them in the videot. I hope they come up because if nothing else they fatten the venison in the springtime. I really need to plant some garlic too, but just haven't gotten to it yet.

  • @therealvirginiawind A squirrel has been digging in my bed. I think he/she is after the carrots. They got them last year too darn it..

  • @Allen2045 See my video about my air rifle and turn lemons into lemonade! If you need a good recipe for the carrot munchers just let me know.

  • @therealvirginiawind LOL IM going to check out the air rifle video now. I want to try the three sisters garden also....Paula
