If anyone will take care of dexter, it is Debra. Think about it. Dexter will not kill him self, no way.. He will not get the chair or a lethal injection But what I think will happen in the end is that Debra will shoot him, after a long conversation with him, he will say it's the best way out since he would want his sister to be the one to take him down, if anyone.

Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay is the name of the first book that the first series of the show is based on... after that the show doesn't follow the books. The books are awesome and its a credit to Michael C Hall that he nails the character of Dexter, as he is represented in the books.
