When I start up my DSi it has "Alex Rider Stormbreaker THQ" and not R4i (or something like that). My R4i (v1.4.1) still works though - then again I've only tried one game so far >.> I'm questioning whether the R4 I bought is fake? Has anyone else had this happen to them? I read online that it has that name so it could trick the DSi into thinking it's an actual game so it won't mess up the R4 (like it did for my old one)... But besides that, the video helped me lots ^^ lol

"firmware" is the updatable software on you're DS that allowes Nintendo to add on new data to you're DS, like making all games called R4i-sdhc to not work. That is why the R4 company made the DS read it as something else.

And as an answer to you're first question: as long as it has the "1.4" symbol on it, it will work. And if you want to avoid updating, don't go onto Settings and choose Update. Also, if you go to the Shop application, it will tell you to update. Just turn off you're DSi.

Are you pluging in you're micro sd card into you're computer through a micro sd-regular sd adapter? If so, the switch on the side might be flipped to "lock", which disables all changing of the data on the sd card.

Although the "real" R4 Team gave up on the card, this is by far the best website to get support and purchase the R4 I have seen so far! They even have live specialists ready to help out, just like big companies, like Microsoft or Sony, do! Well the specialists might be there only to help you out on the non-illegal issues of the R4! I was skeptical at first too! It is called an R4 DS and the one LocoLogo95 is reviewing is called R4i DSi which is the same thing as the R4 DS but this one is for the DSi! You can buy it only online and the website LocoLogo95 mentioned is pretty good but you can probably find a cheaper one at a different website if you just Google. The cheapest one is at DealExtreme but buying from there means months of delivery delay! Wikipedia R4 DS for more information! I suggest getting the EDGE DS though!
