@222022200 Well, that of course depends on a lot of things... I have played a lot of styles in my days, including both country picking, classical and 5-string banjo and I still think it´s pretty difficult :)
Anyway, it should still present a nice challenge and the piece is actually filled with a lot of pretty cool licks, if I may say so, ha ha.
Hi Martin, had fun learning a few of your other free pieces, and just bought this one. I think I'll have to buy a banjitar after this! Your tab is excellent - with clear left-hand fingering. Wish you the best and hope to see more from you!
Of all the guitarist ive watched on youtube, you have to be one of the best.. No kidding. You got so much feeling in your play, so steady rythm, and such a good sense of music.. I really idolize you, and i wish the best for you.. Check out my channel if you like, guitar stuff. Greetings from norway :)
Dude well worth the purchase of the Tab. I never ever use Tab for anything but in this case I wanted to support you (and also fast track my way to learning this). I bought it last night and have 3/4 of it down pretty well. Great work Martin, brilliant as always!
That's just insane dude! Utterly insane! I'm really digging the road that leads back home too. I've laid down a cool vocal melody for it if your interested. peace
Hey Martin, Just a small point but u should have your name larger at the start of the video-its v small..you the man, so you should proclaim yourself!
For what its worth this is Rockin Awesome, and for the 10 people that don't like this should look in the mirror and then smack themselves in the face.
Wow Martin I had to sign in to comment that banjo /guitar roll is awsome thanks for all your post they are supper.....Long life and keep working on that finger picking .Thanks again for sharing great music.....
My Goodness! The absolute best I've seen since Chet Atkins! Thank you for the posts. I am sharing them with everyone I know! Blessings on you and your career!
When Billy Redden (who is neither retarded nor inbred, just cleverly made up)played the banjo part in the movie, another banjoist actually was hidden behind him, out of camera sight, and by using clever angles, this was never revealed to the audience. Now I suspect that was also the case for the guitar part. I suspect you were playing both parts, and never scored a credit in the movie - ha! - your secret is out! Fingerpicking at its blazing finest! Outstanding fretboard skills! Tour Oz soon pls!
This is one of my favorite videos on YouTube I keep coming back to listen to it over and over...I have seen some good guitarists but this guy is truly amazing! Next to the original duelling banjos music this is the next best thing and a masterpiece in guitar music. Thank you so much for this...and thanks for sharing it online!
You look so relieved when you finally reach the end. I can't decide whether your vid inspires me to want to try harder or just accept defeat and give up altogether.
Really great! Check out my country solo at myspace/charliejjrr - I'm really new to country and bluegrass music so maybe we can learn from each other? Or maybe do a collab? Btw, what tuning is this?

Just fantastic! I've bought your album and tabs. I think you may well be up there with Tommy Emmanuel. Any thoughts of touring the UK? And do the Loef guitars really sound that good or is it the recording production?
Well, it´s one thing playing this at home and a completely different ball game doing it live in front of guitar nuts :)
No touring at the moment...
The Loef guitars sound really good, the recording is really simple - a condenser mic to computer. Some of the sound is of course "personal", i e in the hands of the player. I have always tried to work hard on getting a tone I enjoy hearing, so to speak...
I don't think you should worry about your tone. It's excellent. You are a very clever and original player. Your harmony always seems to have nice colors. Particularly on your ballads.

Thanks, a greeting of Larry.
Larryknopf 2 years ago
@Larryknopf
Thanks, gracias!
The right hand does a lot of so called "rolls" like on 5-string banjo. A typical pattern is p i m p m i p m - or just finger picking: p i p m p i p m
Like on banjo, I only use three fingers, no ring finger
pinofluvius 1 year ago
Amazing!
Whats the extent of the backing track?
If I purchased tabs could this be played without the track??? or would it sound weird?
PatDog11 2 years ago
Thanks!
The backing is a bass drum, a bass and another acoustic doing some strumming on the choruses.
It´s that rhythm guitar that makes the whole thing sound more "full".
Check out the first little try I did on this - see related videos or search YT for "banjo rolls on guitar"
that´s what it sounds like solo - kinda cool anyway :)
Cheers
