On the contrary, studying homeopathy in some detail (independently, not academically), is exactly what drove me to write the song. The song is not a sophisticated or subtle critique (of which there are many), but a silly satire, constrained by the limitations of meter and rhyme. Nevertheless, I wouldn't have had the gall to write and perform it if I hadn't done my homework.
you have to study it academically...you have to take cases...you have to treat patients...you have to give and try remedies...then after few years come back and tell us what you have observed !!
So you think I would have to be fully indoctrinated and invested in the practice Homeopathy, maybe even be making a living from it as a professional Homeopath, before I would be qualified to take an objective view on whether it worked?
Expertise is a good thing, but being too close to a subject can negatively effect your judgement.
I don't doubt that if I did as you suggest, I would see homeopathy 'working' every day. It just wouldn't be working in the way I'd been taught it did. [Cont...]
No...I am an allopathic pharmacist and I have started studying it with a alot of skeptics just like you...and was a little unsure of the whole thing...till I started taking cases...tried the remedies on people after taking the case in the scientific academical method...and it worked !! so you have the choice to study then judge or to just "judge" !!
[Cont.]To believe in homeopathy is to seriously underestimate the powerful effects the mind has on the body & seriously overestimate the power of highly diluted and irrelevant substances.
[Reply to above] I'm not just "judging" in a knee-jerk way, I'm open to the idea that homeopathy has certain effects, but we basically have two hypothesise as to HOW:
A real "allopathic" pharmacist would never use the term allopathy, a term invented by homeopathists. They would call themselves "science based" or "evidence based" pharmacists.
so should I send you a copy of my certificate to believe me or what ? You have to read more to know that many traditional or allopathic physicians and pharmacists turned to be homeopaths. I amn't one of them but am trying to get the benefits of both worlds ,,, not just to make fun of something I haven't studied or tried as most of skeptics do !!

[Reply to above] I'm not just "judging" in a knee-jerk way, I'm open to the idea that homeopathy has certain effects, but we basically have two hypothesise as to HOW:
H1. Uncontentious psychosomatic mechanisms
H2. Highly contentious physical/biochemical mechanisms
Our best theories & evidence only fit H1.
