All of the Beatles are great musicians together or individually, but I read where when John was asked if he thought Ringo was the best drummer in the world, his response was "he's not even the best drummer in the Beatles!" I thought that was funny! Doesn't have any relevance here, but I thought I would share that with you while I was thinking about it!
No dumb ass, that's Paul playing the lead guitar solo on this song, he actually was a guitar player first before he played bass for The Beatles! Go do your homework know it all!!!
@hotvideosist The solo was done by Paul McCartney. I think that's when he showed Harrison what he though it should sound like... it was not supposed to be the final result (just an idea) but the producer still recorded it and they found it worked great... (and they were right) ;)
I'm like really blown away at this shit. I like all music, when it comes to rock, more of the older version rock like this, or as current as NIRVANA or White Lion, I dig them too. I'm a brother from L.A. Mostly hip-hop in my blood. Real hip-hop, not garbage Drake type shit (he's aight, not my taste), I dig R&B, Jazz&Blues as well. So I'm an equal opportunist with music. This Beatles stuff, I knew they were the shit, BUT DAMN! I LOVE the instrumental of this. At 35 years young, just getting hip.
@MrPieterWittenberg George wrote this song and it's his voice as lead singer. Paul is playing bass (wahoo). If you'd like to make such a statement it'd be best to make it on a song where he's not just in the chorus.
It was actually Paul McCartney was the one playing the solo. George felt like Paul didn't want to help him finish the taxman so he went to John and they both finished it. But in the end Paul agreed to play the solo. Paul is a good all around artists.
Georges best song. Paul has so much talent it is crazy. I love the remake George made of this song, a little different beat with Clapton playing background.
The Beatles were the strongest voice of a generation of many strong, talented voices. Nature set them apart for a reason. It is so we do not just think they were just another great band, so we look closer and listen a little better. When we do, we will that they were prophets. Go to TruthContest (dot) com, open The Present, and read the section about The Beatles.
@vividDC That's why John said they were more popular than Jesus? I just like their music. And you messed up, you missed a word. "When we do, we will that they were prophets." They were just an extraordinary band, with great music at a great time.
I think Paul did the bass line, the lead, the vocals, background harmonies, rhythm guitar and drums on this one......right? LMAO Who cares who did what on this classic timeless piece? Just soak up the riffs and take comfort in the lyric.
@stampede331 This is straight from wikipedia (not always right but a good enough source), "Paul McCartney – backing vocal, bass, lead guitar solo" and "George Harrison – double-tracked lead vocal, lead guitar" , so the guitar was George except for the solo.
@SkateingIsWhatsUp - Hard to believe, but no, it IS Paul playing the solo, while double-tracked on bass. Here's what Wikipedia has about it: "In 1987, Harrison stated: 'I was pleased to have Paul play that bit on "Taxman". If you notice, he did like a little Indian bit on it for me.' Ian MacDonald praised McCartney's contributions to the song saying his guitar solo was 'outstanding' and his bass part was 'remarkable'."
@noorbe1 Just would like to correct you but am not attacking you. Eric Clapton had nothing to do with this song. He played electric guitar on While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Paul did write this bass line and the guitar solo for this song. George enjoyed the Indian tinged solo and appreciate Paul's contributions.
I can't imagine growing up without The Beatles -- they made us "the greatest generation".

I'm sure that's George Harrison's guitar solo - he wrote the song and Paul is playing bass, not guitar.
