  • Great video LEe!I knew it all but how you gathered all this information and reminded that drinking few gallons of beer on 31st can make all my gains useless.

    I personally dont like cardio much so i prefer doing 3 low calorie\low carb while still working out intensivly both in the gym and wrestling.Lee do you think that the high carb pigout on the 31th is actually gonna help me if i decrease my calorie, carb intake 3 days prior to this,while still working out?Btw any thoughts about MI40 program?

    Carb depleting before a scheduled cheat meal can help prevent some of those calories from getting stored as bodyfat. But it's not going to cancel out the negative effects of drinking alcohol. As for the MI40 program it would be a nice change of pace from a traditional workout program. It's a faster paced workout, short rest periods, etc. so it would be better from a conditioning stand point rather then a heavy strength and power routine.

  • @leemhayward And if i am currently doing program which involves 1 minute rest between each set and well, has a lot of variety+more endurance and reps(8-15) then the usual mass routine, would you recommend doing MI40 after this routine?

  • what i do... smaller carb portion control, eat until 2/3 full, stop eating around 5pm-6pm and then lean on sweet drinks like ice tea later , if you do the candy-sugar sweet meal that day eliminate a white flour-grain carb meal .

  • Some good tips. I put on a good few pounds last year and it took a month or more to shift them again. . .I reckon time off from work is a big factor as I wasn't as active at home plus eating more. The upshot is I find it easier to gain strength when I'm better rested. Turning down food and drink at parties/visits is not easy! Fav 'cheat food': banoffi pie, apple-pie, ice-cream,chocolate, fries, burgers, pizza, beer, wine, spirits, coctails. Why is everything bad for your waistline so damn yummy?

  • This is CRAZY. You have to do 3 days of diet control on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday - JUST so you can have 1 friggin pizza on Thursday? As much as I admire the discipline to do this, certainly its better than me - it seems like a tough way to live? I personally feel when its time to enjoy life, then enjoy it! Let your mind stop worrying about having to run to the gym after every cookie you eat! Life's too short for that!.. But hey, thats probably why Lee is champ, and I'm just internet guy!

    Yep, I like pickles. They are tasty and there's only 1 gram of carbohydrate in a pickle so you can snack away on them guilt free, or add them to salads, etc.

    If you are ripped and have visible six pack abs right now then you probably don't need to be super strict with your eating. But for folks with a "normal metabolism" they should follow these tips to prevent getting fat over the holidays.

  • Thanks Lee. Great tips. I do eat cheat meal every week on Sat or Sun. Well my favourite cheat meals is Rice and Lamb Curry or Rice and Lamb Mince Curry. These meals have High Protein, ofcourse Fat also but not high in Saturated fat.

    A weekly cheat meal is fine. You can still use all these tips covered here to help ensure that those extra calories get shuttled towards muscle growth, rather then getting stored as bodyfat.

I don't eat sweets EVER so halloween isn't an issue, thanksgiving I don't eat (did you know it used to be a day of fasting?), christmas and new years oh boy do I eat!! and valentines.. well i broke up with the gf a long time ago, so only 2 big cheat meals, though I will typically eat around 1.5k to 2k calories during each meal

    For most people they eat as much as they want when they "cheat". That's the whole idea of a "cheat meal". But be smart about it, don't eat until you are ready to puke, stop when your belly is comfortably stuffed :-)

  • Arab Muslim right here so I mainly cheat during my holidays by doubling up my normal intake and thanksgiving and super bowl are the only other times I cheat. I can't eat pork so no bad fats. For thanksgiving I had turkey and a whole lotta sweet potato, brown rice with almonds and stuffed cabbage. I keep it clean year round.

  • Hey Lee I was wondering, like many people every few months I take a week off training to rest. What are your thoughts on keeping the cardio going for that week off??

    Yes, you can do moderate cardio during your time off from weight training. Cardio isn't as stressful on the body as lifting weights. Things like walking are good for active recovery and will help you to feel better. I personally like to walk a lot for cardio, get outside take my dog for a walk, and get some fresh air, while burning some fat and calories.

  • My cheat meal this Thanksgiving was turkey, mac & cheese, greens, green beans, and ham. For desert I had a slice of chocolate cake and a cup of banana pudding. Luckily, I started doing extra cardio the Sunday before and continued until Thanksgiving day. I wanted a piece of red velvet cake, but decided against it. For the first time in eating with the family history, I didn't bring home any left overs and i really wanted to bring home some peach cobbler.
