I own a 155 with the 2.0 16v engine, all stock, and it sounds a million times better than that. That engine sounds laggy and asthmatic. It literally coughs before revving. Cone filters in a Twin Spark engine don't work because those engines always run very hot. It can actually lower the engine's power because you'll be shovelling hot air into the engine. Cold air intakes are much better, but they can still ruin your MAF.
you should fit that lower by the bottom front spoiler away from heat, then you could gain some more power. check the K&N web site with induction kits there is induction kit with pd-f file of instruction how to fit correctly :) filter like this:)
Put the original airbox on as it is designed for low down torque which is needed
on a italian twin cam engine with its main power at 3000 to 7000...get a much nicer sound by fitting a silenced de-cat (Cybox/ Peco) also rev more freely and save a
little on fuel bills...cats are not the saviours an eco nut will have you believe...
That thing DOES NOT FILTER the air going in so damages the engine and sucking in hot air slows you down and DECREASES PERFORMANCE. The surface of 1ft area is much smaller than a 13ft paper element in a proper housing which passes more air than the car can use at full RPM. It doesn't restrict your engine in ANY way, try a rolling road and see how you and thousands of other boy racers are conned by clever sales talk/marketing. They rely on you not knowing about filtration and engines! You fool !
i did the same ..but i didn't knew. so i have to inform you that if u keep this cone-air-(filter????hmm) i will guarantee u that in one month or 2 ur MAF will be for trashes .Best way?? try to find a panel sports air filter ( with sponge ) that suits just perfect in ur original air box ..and then np.. btw i payed 210 euros for that shity MAF just cause of this beauty sound .. oh another thing ... try to put out the choke box ( it's inside ur fron bumber on 146's ) and u will have the same sound
Doesnt matter, the induction grow is worth it, went back to the factory setup for a while and didnt really see any loss in performance or gain come to mention it, but I missed the noise so it went back on lol
i fitted a k&n filter....i kept all the original induction components and just replaced the filter wich itself fits in the plastic box......i didnt notice any diffrence though.
@TURPIN1980 So tht proves that you confused the noise with an increase in power. Your car will last a lot longer by providing filtered air to the engine. Why do you think that the filter housing is a particular shape, the same for pipes? It's all to do with how air flows through and the advantage it provides at different RPM. I'll leave you to research and work out why original is BEST. Then you will understand and never be conned again by big companies just out to make money from boy racers.
@TURPIN1980 there sure is some clowns on youtube that urbex2007 comments with the same thing on every air filter video LOL his life is full filled you can tell. any way i added a £30 cone filter to my 1.4 punto evo gp and i know for a fact it is a lot quicker than standard and it sounds pretty cool at about 1500rpm if you floor it just as the throttle body opens i'm sure you know the sound i'm talking about just watch your video @ 10 seconds in and that's the noise
Being an open filter I doubt there is much of a gain but the pick up from lower revs does seem to be alittle better and the induction noise is a nice bonus.
@TURPIN1980 All in the mind, it's because it "sounds louder" and you and other idiot boy racers confuse power with noise. That's why they fit dustbin sized exhausts. When I hear them and look around I see a car doing 30mph about 100ft away. You just don't want to admit you were a victim and conned. You need to learn about filtration and why it is important, then show me *ANY* standard air filter & housing on a car that was designed to restrict flow.

Doesn't sound good to me, sounds like it is struggling and gasping for air, exhaust
mod would be better for that metallic rasp.

that filter is very close to the exhaust. Its not good to give hot air to the engine.
