Ah i got my braces off about 5 years ago now and i have a permanent wire on the back of my bottom teeth so they've stayed perfectly aligned but i had a plate for my top teeth which i wore everyday for a year then slowly weaned myself off it by just wearing it at night for six months...then every 2nd night etc....2 years later my top teeth have moved and i've just been to the orthodontist today to get fitted for a plate to re-align my teeth! what a waste of money huh haha

Hi Ashley! To be perfectly honest, the braces did kind of hurt and annoy me...but it was REALLY worth it in the end! Just be sure to wear your retainers after you get them off, seriously. I had braces when I was 12, and then didn't wear my retainers...and that's why I had to have braces a second time. What's the latest with your braces - do you have them on yet?

@JolieNYC My orthodontist told me many moons ago that it wasn't the straightening that was hard - a few teeth pulled here and some wire tightening there -- it was the retention.

I left my retainer out for too long in my twenties and when I tried to force it back in I think i cracked most of my molars (small pressure cracks) which later led to lovely root canals.

I am going to fast forward and see how your teeth turned out.

im 23 and jus got the same fixed clear braces, ther beter than th metal ones but a pain for eatin because you cant eat nothing coloured like curry, tomato sauce, red wine tea coffee but am getting used to it nd its worth it u can see them close up:)
