I'm not sure but, if you cool a processor... or rather "freeze it" to a temperature lower that -200 *C it cracks... but if you keep it going to ... let's say... -10*C as a constant temperature... I think It works... the bad thing about it is that the cache memory isn't enough to sustain the speed of the CPU itself...
Their data-centers may use a lot of processors to calculate physical simulations. But there is not 5Ghz or 20GHz processor :) Just up to 3Ghz per one.
what do you think would happen if you would drink liquid nitrogen? like its a chemical so what would exactly happen. frost bite on your stomach. wonder if you would die or instant puke
uh... it will turn everything it touches glass-solid from mouth all the way down to stomach... and cool teh rest of teh body to - temps.... but its probably an instant death..
right and you waste all your money on this, if you trash computer components and HAVE THE TIME to do all this then how... especially if you WORK then how can you find the time to do all this
also why would you need the cpu constantly at -100 why dont you just keep it cool using ice
my cpu's max overclock is 10 GHz but i dont want to risk overclocking over what ive already overclocked it 2 (3.5ghz. i might go 10 ghz if i can get my hands on some liquid nitrogen
why didn't they do the out takes where they dropped the motherboard and had to buy another one and how about the one where they spilt all of he liquid nitrogen :)
OMFG 5 ghz i am impressed at my college lab the highest i ever got up to was like 3 ghz but 5! thats crazy i could do bout more than 500 mil+ calculations with some modifications and adjusments but WOW 5 ghz :D
Good for demonstration but not practical. Too bad that going from room temp to extreme back and forth will eventually cause fatigue to the components. The electrolytic capacitors will be out of tolerance due to its dielectric freezing. Not practical to continue buying liquid nitrogen. Excellent science project though.
wow your fucking retarded for 1 this is a record breaking cpu for 2 they had to buy a pretty goo cpu to overclock id say around 700 bucks 3rd that cooling system had to cost around hmm i dunno say 10,000 dollars?
Thedeadlywar, the cooling system in no way costed $10,000. $250 tops. And please, use some grammar and punctuation in your comments, they're difficult to read and almost completely illegible.
10,000 dollars are you serius? It looks like a copper plate, with a copper tube attached to it. Unless your buying some special copper that is made in the middle of the earth and carried by bill gates to your house, I'd say probably $15? The most expensive thing is the liquid Nitrogen, which still isn't even that expensive. The CPU? Probably $200-400

liquid nitrogen cooling with newest hardware specs plz. im sure you could get 6ghz
RamboCambo253 2 years ago
this was 3 years ago back then they didnt over clock very well.
TheMadOrc 2 years ago
6 Ghz, that would be crazy fast....lol... all you have to do is push the power button and you are already at the desktop. Sounds like NASA specs.
Kellsg101 2 years ago
Probably not. Because you need faster harddrives for that. So only clocking the CPU isn't enough. Faster RAM, graphicscards and HDD/SSD.
EclipseEDM 2 years ago
@Kellsg101 Nasa specs rofl Nasa are using 20 ghz computers in their main grid
Newbpwng 2 years ago
@Kellsg101 Nasa doesn't need very fast PC's, umm maybe for 3D Simulations...
Space probe needs only 500Mhz processor with medium performance to complete mission.
@Newbpwng
Their data-centers may use a lot of processors to calculate physical simulations. But there is not 5Ghz or 20GHz processor :) Just up to 3Ghz per one.

HDDs can only read/write so fast, so it won't really boot up any faster.

so we will need to have a way for kids and others not to open the containers of liquid nitrogen for safety purposes?
also wat kidna effect will the moisture have on the chip and surrounding 'metals"
draconite420 2 years ago
There is no moisture, :P
it's liquid nitrogen silly. Turns to a gas as it heats above a certain tempature so there's no moisture. :P
