I have the same bike, but a 2004 K3 model.

Do you know what makes the noise after you turn the key off at the end? My bike does exactly the same.

I think it comes from the bottom of the engine. Maybe the cam moving about slightly when the engine stops?

Mine's only done 3000 miles so I'm sure it's nothing!

just bought one of these, easy to ride and got it with a custom exchaust so it sounds a lot better than with the stock :)

got one same colour same year,just started biking again at 50, had a Suzuki gt500 when i was 19 same power same weight as the gs,easy bike to ride but i miss my 2 stroke

did you make your own switch to turn on/off the instrument dial lights? I would like to be able to do that to my headlamp too just for the sake of turning on the bike. the mechanic told me that the gs500's headlamp stays on during ignition, thus draining power from ignition.

im gonna buy a gs 2001 but looking around in the internet, i see some websites that say the gs 500 has 52 pk some other 46 pk and some others 34 pk depending on the year.

some say the 2001 model has 34 pk

is this true?

i want full power out of a gs

nonsense, 34pk version is 25kw, that's a GS500 with a restriction kit in it for beginning drivers/riders.

I love these bikes, and they're a great starter bike for anyone who is comfortable with riding something a little more "peppy" than a Ninja 250.

The Naked / no-fairing version is my favorite design, though on that note I've always been particular towards nakeds.

I also have a GS 500 (2000.). It takes me anywhere...I can't wait to ride on it again from June...

Why not ride all year round? Snow and ice being obvious non-days of course. Great bikes and so reliable. Mine's kept pristine through most weathers by regular treatment of FS365 spray.

Don't know anythin about wickness mine is 1998 and goes 170km/h with no problem, acceleration is not bad too just the riht thing for beginers weight is like 200-210kg (with fuel and etc) for doch 0.5  it is not much
