Through some curse that I have, apparently, ALL of my ID photos (passport, school, drivers' license, AND state) were taken on days when I had not showered properly for 2 or 3 days. The record of my face and hair that the state of Illinois has is disgusting. For my drivers' license I was trying to be cute and flirty, because the guy taking the picture was cute and flirty and that just... is more embarassing given how the picture turned out. I kind of tried to smirk mysteriously. Don't try it.

I smiled for mine. I have to, because even when I think I have a completely normal and emotion-neutral expression going on, I end up looking either angry, tired, or depressed. It sucks. So the alternate option is smiling like a fool. But my license picture is one of the best pictures I have of myself, oddly. When I went into get mine, none of the people before me smiled and most ended up picking their first photo, which kind of looked like a mugshot for most of them.. because they didn't smile.

Sometimes the person is real sweet and other times the person is like "hey, it's fine, there's nothing wrong with that picture" and so you accept it and then see how terrible you looked when it arrives. Do you think they do that on purpose? xo
