  • amazing

  • brilliant love it :)

  • this is great tutorial! Using this technique is quite time saving as well!! thank you for sharing!

  • lol you have to actually select the picture layer not a new layer to copy the red channel.

  • Great Video! I used a very similar technique on images for REDBOOK covers when clients wanted a mild clean up with no "Glamor" or facial corrections. This technique surpasses the one used by a good 25% increase in simplicity! Thanks for helping improve on my Knowledge base! Great Stuff.

  • Fantastic technique. Thanks.

  • Aussies are sweet shit son lol

P.S) thank you for the tutorial <3

  • Good Job Mate

    5/5

  • amaaaaaaaaazing.....

  • I'm working as a model, and sometimes I'm not satisfy with the photographer photo's retouching. Now I can do better job then they are)))) Thank you very much for sharing your skills. You are the best! Under your directions everything in photoshop are so simple. And I like your voice, it's very soothing and you have pretty accent..)))) Sorry for grammar mistake. Eng is my second language.

  • love ur tutorial .. THANK you so much !!

  • I'm using photoshop elements 8.0. I can't see the channels palette. It's not under windows. Is it available?

  • @frodo322 I don't think it's in elements. I have elements 5.0 and photoshop CS3. It's in CS3.

  • A simple and effective way to do this. Thanks for sharing.

    Keep up the good work

  • lovely video! :) did you know you can get beautiful makeup from Rimmel to test before you buy from Gratis Makeup Samples

  • Works great!

  • not able to paste the red layer? don't forget to make a copy of your background as a first step, right clik on the backgroud and click duplicate layer, then just follow the video's instructions

  • mine doesn't have the channels thing, how do you get it up?

  • This is awesome, thanks a bunch!

  • thank you for sharing!!!!!

  • Lovely tutorial, thanks! Love it :D

Apart from the great result, (and no critique meant here) the only small [possibly]negative thing I find is that the skintone always seems to end up slightly lighter than the original using this technique. The person will always end up looking a little paler. It might not be preferred if the person is pale to start out wiht. Apart from that small pointer, great work!!

  • @79niklas: This can always be fixed after the skin has been cleared by doing hue/colour adjustments

  • A lovely tutorial!Thanks!

  • thanks for sharing!

  • brilliant! thanks for the tut!

  • i did this befr buh now my red layer wont paste in plzzzzzzzzzzzz help

  • Try creating a new layer and then pasting the red one into it.

  • This helped me remove the redness of the skin in a picture :) nice tutorial.

  • these are great tutorials..five stars n a subscription..

  • Brilliant! This is a technique I have never even heard of before.

Thank you for sharing this! :D

  • Top Quality Tutorial.

  • great tutorial

  • This is soooo great. I totally agree with

aznjonnyforlife, it is sooo much easier than the gaussian blur. Thanks!

  • i have adobe CS4 but it WONT let me copy the red channel to a new layer, is there any way?!?!? :(

  • nvmm!

  • I can'r copy it either, says it's empty!

  • Omg so much easier and better looking than the gaussaian blur technique!

  • How can you SLIGHTLY correct an OBVIOUS blemish :p btw im a nutball

  • WOW. This technique is flawless IMO if you know what you are doing. Thanks a lot.

  • Great Tuts! I too was frustrated not being able to copy the red channel. Here are the steps:

Copy background layer>click on channel( if channel not showing, on menu bar >windows>channel)>In Channel, click on Red (click on Right of thumbnail - it turns blue);on menu bar, click Select>all; on menu bar click Edit>copy; in Channel, click RGB (all, to the Right of thumbnails, turn blue); Click Layers; create new layer; menu bar, select>deselect, menu bar>edit>paste. Done! Hope this helps

  • Thank you sooo much!

  • @melcom72 thank you, i was having the same prob

  • @melcom72 Thank you. Your explanation was much better than the original version.

  • @melcom72 Thank you! I was frustrated too, couldn't figure out how I was not getting the channel to copy over. You saved me hours of frustration. :D

  • Thank you!

  • How do you view your Red, Blue, and Green channels in Black and White? I see mine in those colors.

  • windows - channel

  • I don't see the channels panel on CS4....Help somebody

  • try going to Windows and select Channels in the drop down list? it should appear on the right bottom corner

  • at the top

    windows - channel

  • I don't think that this technique works particularly well if the skin area is already correctly exposed. It can result in overexposure & a loss of tonality in the face area.

  • Interesting!!!!

  • Awesome! Thanks very much, excellent technique, much less time consuming than gaussian blur methods.

  • Wow, this tutorial is brilliant!

Way better than the other tutorials I have watched for this subject around here on youtube, this looks so much better and natural.

  • Which photoshop did you use sweetie?

  • Thanks for this, im only young and only just got photoshop and dint kno how to use it until i watched neally all your videos . you are a great help :) thanks heaps!

  • is he toxic cookie ? he sounds like him

  • HEY, Re luminosity Mask remember to switch back to the layers pallet in order to throw down the luminosity mask. I missed this a couple of times.

  • Cool Vid. HEY people who can`t copy paste the red channel. Try this.. Just before you click paste 1, go to select 2,click deselect 3, then click paste. Hope this helps. ranash1995 your tutorials are a big help Please keep it going.

  • Ok folks, I am removing ALL comments of the "I can't copy and paste the red channel" variety. I have made it clear that this is an ADVANCED technique and you need to be competent with channels and layer technique before you can expect to use it. I have at last count answered this question over 16 times and I am saying "The END" as of now, my life is too short!

  • thank you. my first work i done with your lesson

  • To everyone having trouble pasting the red channel layer:

Make Sure None of Layers Are Selected Before Pasting!!!

If any layers of selecting, the red channel layer will not paste.

  • thanks dude!

  • i don;t have a channels pallet

    D:

  • This is one of the best tutorials EVER :D I use it all of the time. Thank you!

  • thank you SO much!

  • Thanks. But I don´'t have problems copying the channel. What I couldn't do was to make the luminosity mask to work on it.

  • HEY, thanks for the vid, it´s awesome!!!

I have a problem, I can´t make the luminosity mask!!!

So the first part worked perfect, but I'm stuck there,..

  • Take a look at the high rez version of the tutorial on the tutorialbucket.googlepages. com website. Copying the channel is a bit fussy sometimes, so I use the actual Edit>copy menu to be absolutely certain that it grabs it correctly rather than a keyboard shortcut. If it doesn't work, let me know and I'll post you a step by step!

  • @ranash1995 Ok dude I know said your deleting any comment towards the same question but I see you never replied those who used Cs4.

  • wow...kool Thanks

  • Fabulous.:)

    And 2:06 is clickable

  • thanks! just what i needed!

  • awesome

  • Excellent. I've veen looking for a vid that explained this in detail and not showed a speedy vid of someone doing it. Thank you!

  • Omg! thank you

  • you've got to paste it into new layer

  • when i paste it layer 1 is the same as the original photo :(

  • Thanks

Just what i´ve been looking for. Fantastic!

  • Hi, i tried the steps to create a luminosity filter, seems like my Red channel is quite 'noisy' . After creating the filter and changing blend mode to Lumin, i can see noise appearing on the face of subject .. is this normal ? cos the final product still has these noise in there. I tried this with a number of images but still the same.

Perhaps you can help me out here.

    Thx.

  • heya,i like your vids,their realy good,but the problem is,im using photoshop elements 5.0

have you got any tips for me,cause i cant find the channels u using, does that even exist on elements? ive always had that problem with the reddening on the cheeks, but i work my way around it,but your way is so easy and would realy like to do it that way.please let me know if u have any ideas, cheers, thanx for the vids

  • Sorry, can't really tell you a thing about Elements 5.0 :( I'm pretty sure that channels is only available on Photoshop the full version. There should be a color balance tool in Elements that will let you take out the red!

  • super!!

  • amazing.

    learnt alot!

    thankyou!

  • Your good, your a really good teacher, i'm learning heaps from you!! keep up the good work :)

  • thanks it's really useful!

  • how do i get to the channels?

  • From the Photoshop menus:

    Window>Channels

  • hi!

    that is really cool!

    but control + t doesn't work here!

maybe because I have a german keyboard.

is there an onother way to do it, maybe with photoshop and not with the keyboard??

  • and there comes the hand when i click ctrl + T. and it doesn't go away this hand. i must than close photoshop and restart it T__T

    why?

  • Short and easy explaination. I dont use Ctrl + T in this tutorial! That is the shortcut for the free transform tool. I DID use Ctrl + Click to choose the luminosity values of the RGB thumbnail... if this is not what you mean, tell the time point at which I said what you want explained!

  • what program did you use to record your tutorial?
