If anyone hated the song, it was Frankie Avalon himself. He hated it so much that he ostentatively pinched his nose during the recording session (that's why it sounds so nasal). Ironically, it was his first song to become a hit...
@Steinbach1984 That's the story, but personally I think that's all show biz chin music. If he pinched his nose, his n's would sound like d's. It really bugs me when an artist denigrates their early rock 'n roll work! Grrrrrrrr. I LOVE this record, always have.

At least Frankie has a killer saxophone solo; what's Rebecca got? To quote 'The Untouchables' , "You got nothing, you got NOTHING! NOTHING! And if you were a man,you woulda done it now! YOU DON'T GOTTA THING,YOU PUNK!!!
TMQ you are mistaken. Friday is by far much much much worse in every way possible. To quote Remember the Titans, "Do the words cruel and unusual punishment mean anything to you," can be sued to describe the atrocity that is Rebecca Black's Friday
Yes! This is so stereotypical of the 50's, its unreal. I love it. All the happiness, joy, and innnocence of the period comes back in 2 short minutes. Oddly enough, I heard in Annett's biography that Frankie didn't like the song he was singing.
did you know that frankie avalon recorded this while holding his nose...to give a clear nasal sound......he was fooling around at first and the manager of the recording studio said to record it just like that.....for the effect.....oila!....a hit.....
A pleasant uplifting tune.

Annoying? Sure, but Rebecca Black would pummel Frankie Avalon's face into spaghetti with a spade, using only her backhand.
