  • Ponies... Somehow... Brought me here.

  • How did i miss this while watching the movie?? What part of the movie is this in front of/ behind?? Someone please tell me??

  • @KingallsK Its right after Music of The Night.

  • @KingallsK Wait. Scratch that. Its after "I Remember/Stranger than you dreamt it"

  • Comment removed

  • 2:23 purrrrrrrrr she's wise. and deadly. me like her

  • 1:23 Meg screams because she is scared of rats I don't blame her I HATE RATS TOO

  • This whole scene is worth watching just to hear Kevin McNally sing

  • I love how you can practically watch the whole movie from your playlist :D

  • I love the contrast in this scene. I mean, when Christine walks through the mirror with the Phantom everything looks so surreal, but when Meg finds the secret passage way, you realize that it was all just Christine's imagination. It's kind of sad that all the Phantom can offer to her is just an illusion, while the real life is all dark and filthy.

  • Hey I'm Buquet in a play!!!

  • Good ritz if Phantom killed Joseph ugly-face. He's a pervert. One less man to harm Christine.

  • gibbs :)

  • Med shood uv been wit the Phantom, i think she could of loved him so much more...

  • So, I'm playing Madame Giry in our high school production of "Phantom of the Opera", and I was just wondering: Anyone know what her hairstyle is called? :B

  • gibbs is joseph boquet? YAY!

  • that girl should've told someone to go with her who walks into a creepy hallway without someone with you

  • @dragonlilly4912 ummmm I do. :S then again maybe that my subconscience way of hoping the phantom will kidnap me!

  • @hypogirl55 i'm with you there... even with the scar he isn't that bad looking!

  • @dragonlilly4912 I know! it's just too bad i can't find any decent guys like him that are around my age!

  • Girl power Madam G! WHOO HOO! Smack him!

  • oooh, face slap :3

  • Joseph Buquet hold your tongue. *Slap* Keep your hand at the level of your eyes! (:

  • It's too bad that Kevin Mcnally doesn't sing Buquet's lines, he just recites them. But that is cool too, because it sort of reminds us of how brilliant he is when he tells stories as Mr. Gibbs.

  • I love the part where Meg goes into the hallway! It's great! It says much about Meg, and somehow warning about the future from this character in the stage sequel.

  • Ironically Joseph Buquet's description of the phantom is more appropriate of the early phantom publications, including the Lon Chayney Jr adaption and original novel. The phantom in the newest adaption was actually criticized for being too attractive.

For comparison's sake: before the Lon Chaney adaption started patrons were told to keep smelling salts on hand. Wether people actually fainted in theatres or not I couldn't speak to. But interesting tidbit there.

  • @runevi I have to agree. The deformity in stage productions and old movies are much worse, which makes it better. I don't know if this makes sense. I think the deformation of the 2004 movie was understated... a lot. It's supposed to be closer to Monsieur Boquet's description right now.

  • I don't quite get what they mean when you have to keep your hands at the levels of your eyes can anyone comment back and tell me?

  • @kirasimba If you keep your hand at the level of your eyes, your hand will prevent the lasso from closing around your neck completely, letting you slide the rope off harmlessly. After that the Phantoms lost his main element of surprise. Thats why Madame Giry says that all the time :)

  • @kirasimba it keeps ya from gettin' choked.

  • EWW CREEPY GUY SCARING CHICKS.

  • It's Gibbs from Pirates of the Caribbean!

  • @orlandogirl213 yay for gibbs!

  • @thepurplecrystalz I just realized that he mimics his fate in this movie during Pirates. In Curse of the Black Pearl, at the beginning, after Norrington tells Elizabeth he'll give pirates and their friends a "short drop and sudden stop", Gibbs pulls on his kerchief around his neck, miming a hanging. And, of course, Buquet is hanged in this movie.

Anyone figure out why the heck Erik killed Buquet? He never did anything to him and yet Erik still killed him.

  • @orlandogirl213 he hangs boquet because he was nosy adn could have bore witness to erik's existence.

  • i love that scene. madam giry is my favorite character in the movie.

  • Why does no one listen to Madame Giry when she says "Keep your hand at the level of your eyes!"?! I mean, Joseph didn't listen, and guess what? He DIED. Near the end, she tells Raoul the same thing, but did he listen? No! And he didn't die, but he still had to figure out how to get out of the lasso. As a recall, it was actually Christine who saved him. It's ironic that he goes to save her (which he does at the end) and yet she saves him in a way, too. xD

  • talk about a useless rescuer

  • I LOVE the ring of Keys!!!

And Phantom, but the keys are soooo cool!

Does anyone else think that Mme Giry told Meg after she finds the mirror/glass thing?

  • The accent suits Madame Giry very good! Even though Miranda Richardson is british!

  • I love this part!!!

Madam Giry is like my fav character next to the phantom!!!8D

Seriously, face deformity or not, I'll let the phantom kidnap me anyday!!!!XD

  • Yeey! Mister Gibbs xD

  • where the handcandles thingys gone i liked them very much o.o

  • Really? Are the movie fans so ignorant they can't even figure that out? The Title Song is very stylized, and Christine is in a dream like state so she is seeing things that aren't really there. The ugly cellar is really how the lair should appear to a person not in the Phantom's trance.

  • The phantoms voice radiates ecstasy, which made Christine hallucinate.

  • lol one way mirror FTW

  • 1:20 Aw, look at the cute little ratties! XD

  • in the book the persian tells joseph to keep your hand at the level of your eyes.

  • kool, i didn't know that

  • Ok thats awesome.

  • nope...he tells raul that...joseph dies in the first chapter...they find him hanging around in the third level of the cellars...if you know what I mean.

  • Raoul sorry. I read the book like 25 times no joking.

  • What song is it where the Phantom goes "Let the audience in, my opera begin!"?

  • That's just before Point of no Return

  • Seal my fate

    thats the song name

  • Ya it protects you from the noose which was probably the main reason

but when i first saw this i thought it meant out of his pants :/

    Maybe im just a perv

  • omg I thoguht the same thing hahah!

  • I think this was a foretelling of Buquet's fate XD and as Dezie1011 I didn't understand why she told Raoul the same thing

  • i get confused when she says that, "keep your hand at the level of your eye"... she doesn't only say it to the guy who was telling the story to the girls, but she also says it to raoul when she's leading him down to find the phantom at the end. what does it mean?

  • if your hand is at the level of your eyes it can protect you from the noose.

  • whats that?

  • lol a noose is a rope used to hang people. If you have your hand up the noose can't get around your neck.

  • Haha Joseph Buqet hold your tongue.............. lol. At least he dies

  • Buquet is so creepy. D:

  • dude he's Mr.Gibbs from Pirates of the Caribbean he's awsome!

  • you had not noticed before?

  • no i had im just saying that he's mr.gibbs and he's ...well yeah kinda creepy but a good actor!

  • i am so glad the phantom killed this guy off.

  • Does Madam Giry have some sort of relationship with the Phantom? She knows of the secret passageway, plus she gets Raoul out of the mirror thingie in "Why so silent?" She also knows what the rose meant.

  • Yeah, she does. When Madame Giry was a little girl, her and her ballet class went to a circus where the Phantom was being held and shown off for money. She saved him and let him live in the opera house basement, where he apparently remodeled it and spent his life as a crazy person. ^^ Hope that helps!

  • Whoa, weird. Thank you, though.

  • In the play she just knew him from before but it was never stated she helped him escape. I think he knew that she knew his secrets but she kept her mouth shut. She is a combination of two characters from the book Madam Giry whose daughter was a ballet brat and she was an box attendant whose husband died and the Persian who knew the phantom and his secrets because he helped him escape Persia.

  • i love how no ones that arsed that christine's gone awol lol

  • well, for Madam Giry, yeah.

  • It's really obvious in the bit that Madame Giry's voice was added on after, watch her mouth move with she's not singing

plus the slapping sound was out of time,

but whatever it's still fringing awesome

  • na, the show is though!

  • init... i hate the word changes!

  • why do you keep you hand at the level of your eye?

  • so u dont die

  • because the phantom uses a noose to kill people so with your hand at the level of your eyes you can get it off

  • His name is Eric... I believe...

  • You're right, his name is Erik, it's spelled with a "k" not a "c"

  • lol, my name is Erica, and people always spell it wrong too, my own grandmother actually spelled it Ericka

    lol

  • that's cool my name is Erik ^_^

  • What.. is that the phantoms name?? If so how do you know that?

  • There is a (french) book about the fantom of the opera. In the book madame Giry talks about him using the name "Erik"

  • I love Mme. Giry!

  • "Once, I heard he found a couple of sea turtles swimming in the underground lake. So, he took the lasso, lashed 'em together, and made a raft."

    :P

  • @DefyGravity464 perhaps with his back hair xD

  • She doesnt say 'zee'

  • no but like frenchie people and yes she does...well she says the but it sounds like zee......:P

  • They should have mentioned the phantoms name in the movie.

  • yeah i think so to

  • Thoze who speak of what they find too late that purdent silence is wise. Joseph Bouquet hold your tounge Keep you had at zee level of your eyes!

  • so was the whole hands for lanterns in the passageway just her imagination, cz she was in a dream world bein so shocked to see the phantom?? the passageway looked horrible haha

  • Mr. Gibbs rules! What a wonderful singer :-D

  • I know why Giry says "Keep your hand at the level of your eyes" but when I first I saw the movie, I she's telling Bouquet for being a perv. You know, "keep your hands to yourself!" that sort of thing.

  • No, she says that because he uses the punjab to kill, and if your hands are near your eyes you may be able to survive by pulling on the noose.

  • I know that. ^-^ But the keep your hands to yourself thing was just a first impression. :P

  • I love this part for no particular reason. Maybe because I like that phrase: "Keep your hand at "zee" level of of your eyes!"

  • This scene is odd in a few ways:

It spoils the magic mirror trick, making The Phantom appear to be nothing more then an elaborate magician.

It describes The Phantom as he looks in the book, saying "the nose which never grew". In the film he clearly has a nose.

  • I think the nose thing was just referencing back to the book. The 1925-27? version has a similar scene.

  • As I mentioned recently, Madame Giry really knew what she was talking about. I also beleive that she was trying to keep everybody out of trouble. Makes sense does it not? But, again, I don't feel a bit sorry for Bouque when he got his at the end of this next scene.

  • im just curious to ask... what is the phantom's name in the movie or is it just "phantom"

  • i don't think it's ever said in the movie but his name is eric/erik

  • It's Erik.

  • Well, I dunno if they ever mentioned his name in the movie, but I do know the Phantom's name is supposed to be Erik.

  • Best freakin' vids:D I think your about as obsessed with POTO:D

  • This scene was interesting because madame giry wanted to joseph buquet to bad which joseph buquet was crazy guy i think because when christine sing angel of music with meg when they finished the song joseph buquet was looking christine i don't like that the way he looks at her.Joseph buquet looks like he going to kill christine which cannot happen. And he was looking so badly.

  • if your hand is at the level of your eyes than when erik lassos you it goes around your arm and neck so you could pull it back over and not get killed.... get it?

  • i love that kline when Madame --- says for the guy to hold his tounge

its original! i use it when people curse me out! they laugh.

    i laugh back aty them

  • "Keep you hand at the level of your eyes!" Oh Madame Giry really knows what she's talking about. Don't push The Phantom or he may do something terrible like this next scene thats coming up. I don't feel a bit sorry for Botque. Sorry. Anyway, I love this scene. Keep up the great work. :)

  • Madame Giry sure creeps me out sometimes.... Great scene!

  • Tsk tsk, he didn't listen to her advice did he? I think that Madam Giry knew what Erik was planning...

  • Think about the way The Phantom kills people...he can't do it if your hand is at the level of your eyes..

  • Ooohh.... But... No wait, yeah that works. Haha, go Madame Giry, pwn the loser!

  • Yay it loaded! But I don't get the hands thing....

  • Look at the reply I left for xxofallenangeloxx..

  • I can't get this one to load. Very annoying.
