Damn! This is the most intense and extremely competitive racing that I've ever seen. These cars are flying through the corners. Super GT is the best racing in the world. It's a shame that it doesn't get air time in the US.
Takashi Kogure(#18 Weider) got dehydrated, drove on feeling dizzy, and barely managed to cross the finish line 3rd(Then he pulled over and was brought back in the rescue car). Yuji Ide (#8 ARTA) even had to come back in the pit on lap 50 for hyperthermia. He collapsed after the crew helped him get out of the car. 1st stint driver Ralph Firman took over for the rest of the race.
Intense heat in Malaysia hit HONDA HSVs. According to HONDA, Car interior temperature got higher than they had expected, and what was even worse, three of them (#18,#100 and #8) had a cool-suit system failure. Their 2nd stint drivers had to drive in the excruciating heat.
The HSV is underpowered compared to the SC430, but it has great braking. The GTR is the most stable of the 3 cars and the SC430 has the most power. Honda chose a exhaust that gave the HSV a better sound over a exhuast that gives more power. Looks liek they're regretting it now. I think the SC430 is going to win again this year. This time Eneos SC with Daisuke Ito. Even with all that extra weight they're running super fast.

@c312eal I agree. The SC430 will probably win again this year. Either the nº1 Petronas or nº6 Eneos. I would rather see the HSV-010 win it but I just don't see it happening. The car is fast (and will only get better) but Toyota and Nissan simply have better drivers compared to Honda. Look at SuperGT history, the Honda (NSX) was more often than not the fastest car in the series yet only won 2 titles.
@BBSB110 I hope Eneos can win it over Petronas. Eneos has Ito and he's a really good drive, you can tell in sepang. Even with all that extra weight he was still competitive. And it is true Toyota and Nissan have better drivers. When Ito was on ARTA they did pretty good. They won in 2007. Honda might have only 2 titles but they have the fastest records on almost all the tracks LOL

@c312eal (cont.)...the rest were all won by Nissan and Toyota. No matter how fast your car is you will not win championships if your drivers can't keep the cars in one piece and finish races. I think this is one lesson that Honda will probaly never learn. All the legends and great drivers you see right now on Lexus and Nissan camps they all (at least most of them) started on Honda teams but for some reason they choose to switch for either Toyota or Nissan (more to Toyota) and (continues...)

@BBSB110 Super GT governing body is filled with Toyota and Nissan reps. During the NSX years they kept trying to add restrictions to the NSX, the most famous is the flat bottom rule. And the rule changes were always in favour to the supras.
@c312eal That's true about Nissan and Toyota basically running the show and constantly changing the rules to hamper the Honda NSX. But even so Honda managed to be competitive and it's drivers kept failing to win the title for them. Many times they come close but not quite did it (how may times did they loose it at the end by 1 or 2 points?? lol)

@BBSB110 I think Honda put the NSX's technology into the HSV. Like the suspension work etc. Tech from a MR car into the FR HSV will probably make the car unstable and hard to control. Firman mentioned during the testing of the HSV it was hard to control. 2nd is the exhaust, Honda wanted their car to have that HONDA sound and it sounds amazing BUT they admitted that they could've chose a exhaust that allows the engine to perform better. I bet they're regretting this right now

@c312eal ....and they all became champions. Honda has 2 good drivers in the Weider team (Duval/Kogure) and Firman in the nº8 team, and that's it. The rest are either rookies or erratic or/and slow drivers. And don't get me started with the ARTA embarrassment. Yuji Ide to partner Firman?? What were they thinking??? (continues..)

@BBSB110 Duval and Kogure is Honda's only hope. I don't think Firman is a great driver, his entire career is famous for crashing cars. If you look back you would see how many times he crashed in Super GT. Look what happened in Suzuka this year. I seriously believe that Firman was at fault for that crash. He took out Weider HSV and damaged Epson HSV. Izawa was on ARTA last year, he was a HUGE noob and now hes the lead driver for Raybrig HSV. Honda has shit drivers
@c312eal I disagree about Firman. Yes he was nº2 to Ito in 2007 and yes maybe Ito is better. And I agree with you that Firman was at fault for the HSV's colision in Suzuka. But he is a very fast and controled driver at least since 2007. I don't know before that. Since 2007 he made few mistakes and is a very combative driver.
@BBSB110 true true well he is probably the most experienced driver out of all the honda teams. His run in Fuji 2009 was amazing. From 10th position he came all the way back to beat everyone. Even when Fuji is a Lexus map. Fuji tends to be more of a high speed map that requires more power from a car over circuits like suzuka which require handling. But he does crash alot LOL... It would be better to say he's a good driver but he gets a lil too aggressive at times.
@BBSB110 and do you notice how Honda is ALWAYS slower in the pits... That really sucks because they're losing races because they have slower pit crews. Nissan has some INTENSELY fast pit crews. Look at Motul GTR. They beat Petronas SC430 last year in Fuji becuase the a 24 second pit stop. Thats AMAZING

@BBSB110 Oh yeah he is... And you remember he got a shot at F1? That was a joke, when he found out his F1 racing licence was revoked he threw a temper tantrum and started crying ROFL. Even though Izawa was a rookie I still rather have him than Ide. Izawa had guts, he was agressive. Forced some cars to spin out etc. But he also crashed the car alot. I guess he got that from Firman LOL. But Ito and Firman was a great duo. Ito was the lead driver and Firman second.
@c312eal Yes I remember Ide drove for Super Aguri F1. I don't know what Tsuchiya/Aguri were smoking when they signed him for their ARTA team. This is a very important Honda team since they are only one of 2 that receive factory support. The others are kinda "satelite teams". But I think the Ide signing was partly because of his conections with Aguri.

ARTA made the biggest ever mistake to hire Ide again. Aguri should be more objective in hiring drivers, hope Izawa will be back to ARTA next year...
