Synesthesia is so interesting. There are actually hundreds of types. Any 2 or more senses can be joined or mixed. It's not only seeing to colours or numbers to colours. Some people see what they taste taste what they hear. The combinations are endless. Grapheme is the most common. I have it so all my letters and numbers have certain colours. But no pictures or personalities like some people have. But there's also numbes I don't like because they'e really ugly. 37 yuck powdery brown with yellow.
Fascinating. I may have the mildest form in that some phone numbers seem to flow better than others. Other than a vague emotional reaction, there is no other "sensory" reaction. I wonder if I could develop it? Or if I'd want to?
@jerseystringer Synesthesia takes attention most of the time. You sometimes need to think about it for stuff to happen. I didn't realize that to me A is sky blue until I asked myself what colours A is. Also, you can't develop or 'get' synesthesia. The theory is that everybody's born with it but most people grow out of it. Those who don't are synesthetes. You can definitely discover a lot if you think about what your thinking of.
@elseamelsea Thinking about it some more, I remember that faces had certain colors for me as a child, one might be "orange," another "purple," although I didn't see that color in their faces, it was as if they had some quality of essence of the color. It was unmistakable and consistent. As you said, I apparently grew out of it.
@jerseystringer Similar with me, it was like group of kids at school were certain colours to me. One of the more popular groups was like a bright pink and blue. It never followed with their names but more like their 'status' or something. I'm not really sure. I've mostly lost that part of it though. The grapheme synesthesia really helps me with spelling and remembering things but I can never remember dates in history. It doesn't helps that 3 and 6 are very similar browns. Thanks!
I wish it was involuntarily. I have to practice to feel numbers. But I don't feel exact numbers I feel probability. But that's what you get when you study maths.
I think that's so wierd, I'm like into psychology and all, and knew about Synesthesia but just found out I have it...
Like, 12 isn't a picture or anything though it's a person that wants to help everyone, everyone likes it and everyone wants to get to there. I also have things with math, as in 2+3 two and three are like boosting up to five and helping each other. While 2*3 is the same but more high tech or improved because they get to 6. I also feel that it's bad or their doing it secretively.
that's interesting because my numbers have personalities and i usally feel gulity for putting numbers that don't like each other together. (ex: 1 in a bully and picks on 3 who is the second youngest, shy and loves 2. So I allways feel bad about the numbers like 13, 31, or 111, but I love putting 2 and 3 together)
@HogwartsHottie47 I feel exactly the same! I hate 27 so much, not only do the colors look bad together (red and green) but 2 is so mean and just horrible to 7, and they just fight all the time...I wish it were a prime number so I wouldn't have to use it in math so much....

That number they showed, 785 is a grumpy old man. But you know, it's only because those three numbers don't get alone with each other, duh.
