Free navigation with Ovi Maps

OVi maps have a very little ammount of maps than a Garmin or Google Maps... East Europe on OVI= IMPOSSIBLE! There is no Serbia,Croatia,Romania,Sloveni­a... There is only Main highway in Serbia, nothing more than that...

Garmin and Google rulz when we are talking about number of maps...

I use Ovi maps (on a Nokia E71) & I just LOVE IT! Whenever I travel abroad I download the respective maps onto it & therefore save data roaming costs (huge savings btw). For me it makes it indeed unnecessary to buy any extra GPS navigation ad hoc device. Furthermore I'm almost sure that whenever this phone wears finally out I will buy again a new E71. I love it, wouldn't change it for any other one

check that integrated and assisted GPS is selected as GPS positioning method. You can find it in Menu -> Application -> Locations (I dont remember the eact name but its a compass icon) -> Positioning Methods, enable the methods from them.

After enabling them goto Maps application and wait for it to get GPS Fix.

@Terrence1990 ... free anywhere and at any time, data charges may apply if you are using application in online mode but if you download the maps using ovi suite, and put the application offline you dont have to pay a single dime :)

This is not really free for ANY phone because you need an internet connection for the GPS to work, so great if your on contract and youve got free internet access but for anyone on PAYG its no good as you will have to pay your network internet costs, SOMEONE please correct me if im wrong as Ive got just N97 mini and was quite disapointed that this was the case

From "maps (dot) ovi (dot) com" get to the download page, select the top grey button "Downloads" then from the bottom of the sel. window follow the link "To find Ovi Maps for other mobile devices". There you are: Ovi Maps for N95/N96 and other legacy phones.

I think this is a joke. Why not for E71?? One of the top sales for Nokia, so may people bought and now one has to continue to pay for navigation. Thank you soo much Nokia. Its the best GPS software around in my opinion its better than other GPS devices. The voice instructions is soo accurate and very detailed and the street names are soo superb you guys wouldn't know how accurate the voices are its like there's someone beside you. Im actually planning to buy the Nexus One but the Ovi maps navigations is simply not to be missed. its tons better than the google maps navigation. Nothing can come close to the Ovi maps navigation.

This is a pure advertising GIMMICK on a GLOBAL SCALE. Ovi Maps DOES NOT SUPPORT FREE NAVIGATION for NOKIA 6220 Classic. It only supports their high-end models that are having POOR SALES due to cheaper competing models. Check out Nokia's website and you will see it only supports only 10 models!
