adopted my dog from the philly pound. she is an apbt who was abused, left out in the backyard 24/7, 365. hate pits all you want, idc. i hate poodles. but then again, i don't try to murder mass amounts of poodles do i? as far as BSL laws go, You can have the leash when you pry it from my cold, dead hands.
American Bullies have a better temperament then your average pitbull, times have changed and this is how new breeds are made by cross breeding, I would take an american bully over a traditional pitbull anyday!

In short, these "breeders" have generally produced an inferior animal that likely does not have as stable a temperament than a traditional Pit, who have a more stable temperament than just about any other breed. That's because the goons breeding bullies are doing it for looks whereas the pit was originally bred for gameness alone. Dogs bred for looks have more problems.
Your a credit to the breed i just wish there were more out there like you. If we want to save this breed we have to educate people on the fact's because all they hear about is the media hype ,,,,what are they going to say when theres a incident a labador attacked or a pitbull....whats going to sell papers and bring ratings .
I got a beautiful mixed 6 month old puppy. His father was an American Staffordshire Terrier and his Mom an American Pit Bull Terrier. But he already is much bigger then most of the other Amstaffs here in the neighbourhood (wich are adults). His father was also very big for an Amstaff though.
Now my question is (allthough i'm not supposed to call it a specific breed, but it makes random outside conversations much easier), what's probably the most specific breed i can call him? Pitt or Amstaff ?
@cavello89 Its up to you, Since he is so large you could call him an Amstaff or Amstaff-mix... You don't have to leave the "mix" part out. ;) My male dog is an APBT/beagle, I always let people know hes a mix, normally people are less afraid of him compared to my pure bred APBT. So letting people know hes a mix isn't really a bad thing. :)
Even though I am completely for adopting and would never buy from a breeder, this makes me want to breed TRUE game bred APBTs. I'm worried about the future of the APBT. I won't breed unless they are at serious risk of becoming extinct (not now)

show cropping is to have a better view at the apbts jaw/head structure. cropped & uncropped ears suit this breed,as it doesnt on many other breeds. the reaon why people get confuced with apbt and ambully is that most abullie kennels have the name apbt stamped on to it.

maybe you can answer a question for me why do people cut the dogs ears? i been told SO many things like, it makes them look meaner or because they are gonna fight the dog, but really is there some health issue why people do it?
@zuel71 People crop ears for different reasons. Mostly for looks. Not always for fighting, or to look meaner. Like a lot of show APBTs and Am.staffs have cropped ears, because they look "better" that way. Its all about what the owner wants. If you have it done by a vet who knows what they're doing, and make sure you take care of the ears properly then their is nothing wrong with cropping, in my opinion. Its mostly just for looks. :)
I love working and gambred APBTs, beautiful dogs! Love their drive, versatility and determination. But why all the Bully bashing? Not everyone can handle working dogs, if people started breeding American Bullies so that they're sound and healthy but keep the calm housedog attitude. Stay-At-Home-Joe could get an American Bully that needs moderate exercise. And not have a drivey potentially DA APBT just sitting doing nothing, and building frustration due to lack of.
you are absolutely right. pitbull is a type not a breed. people always just refer to them as pitbulls when the could be anything. yes the apbt is the only breed with 'pit bull' officially in its name but that excuse the fact that its a type not a breed. just the other day the news came on with 'pitbull attacks woman' and later u see the dog bloody and all and its a fucking bullmastiff. so dumb. also recently i guy in miami dade got his ridgeback x boxer taken off him cos it was too 'pit' looking

I got one question if the american bully is a "mut" how do they register them as UKC or other regestries? Im just asking because Im new to the whole pitbull thing and I got alot of question about the breed or breeds for that matter
@gravitythakid They are quickly becoming their own breed. They even have their own registry now (ABKC) and can be reg. with the UKC and ADBA. Some people view them as pure bred, and some people don't. They are still a very new breed, so it might take some time for them to be considered their own breed and not a pit bull.
@saisha57 they're not registered as an american bully with ukc, they still consider them american pitbull terriers. in my opinion abkc does the most in promoting the bully as a new breed, hence the reason I'm dual registering my ukc dog.
Yes, they are mutts. People usually breed Neapolitan Mastiffs, British Bulldogs and French Mastiffs with Amstaffs and APBTs to create these monsters. The true nature of an APBT will never let him hurt a human, while these other breeds are protection and attack dogs. Therefore what you get can be a very dangerous animal.

@NYCzBoriBori - I like both breeds i just perfer the APBT. I consider each their own breed. Their is so much confusion around the "pit bull type" breeds. The Am.staff, staffy, APBT, Am.bully, and all their mixes are considered pit bulls(along with any pure bred/mixed breed that looks like a pit). I would much rather call them each by the name to clear up confusion. And yes, the American Bully is its own breed.. More like a designer breed i guess... And I have nothing against the bully.

@APBTisBeast - I got almost all the pics of APBTs from websites that had dogs that were supposted to be ADBA and UKC reg. as apbts. A few of them looked a lil on the large size, but they are 30-60lbs norm. So i just figured they were on the large side.

The APBT was designed to be a properly proportioned animal. Instead, idiot drug dealers and "gangsters", think they need a dog with a monstrous head to protect them. The over breeding of APBT with those, technically, undesirable traits have, unfortunately, created a large population of defective APBT's. The health risks for these "Bullies" are increased by adding additional weight to their already dysplasia prone hips. What a good idea.... but that's fucking America for you.
@DiabetikCrysis88 I have to agree 100%. People that wish to claim these dogs are totally healthy are liars. Just looking at their stance, it is easy to tell they have many prone problems just waiting to happen. Their heads are often huge and way too big for the necks and their back legs often too horrible. Even the more athletic American Bullies are not healthy animals. They breed only for looks. I've seen SO many of them struggling to walk and unable to really run! It's sad really.

The American bully is really much like a bulldog, bred solely for looks and have a wide range of health issues. They aren't bred for nor are they known for their athleticism. The APBT are much more friendly and less lazy. The bully has a hard time walking sometimes because of it's stature and way too many muscles. Nothing but a mutt that has tarnished the image of a REAL pitbull to me.

ps. i do own a jeep/nigerino bitch so i am a little partial, but i have family who own very healthy ambullys even tho they perfer the term larger bred pitbull which isnt entirely untrue being that they are of apbt stock and has the pedigrees to prove it(even tho thats not always a guarentee either) regardless no registry worth mentioning recognizes ambullies so people will continue mixing up the breeds

the apbt and am bully definately have become 2 different breeds. they may not have started out that way but is very much the case 2day. yes the am bully comes directly from the apbt but lets not be ignorant the blood has been heavily mutted up. the problem with am bullies is allot of the time ther bred for looks not health. not all bullies have problems but its not uncommon. the apbt on the other hand has very few health problems due to breeding programs that emphasize fuction instead of looks

i cross breed a red jeep boy/ chinaman blood line (fighting line APBT) with a gotti line (bully line APBT) and he was super massive and also had all the gamenes, all the athleticism. What i'm trying to say is he was fucking bad ass... He literally was the best of both world's. He was as big as a rott but had all the gameness of a apbt. i literally think theyre unstoppable to any dogs. That might possible by the ultimate fighting dog with both size and gamess.
ukc and akc do solitifies these bully breeds as apbt. alot of apbt loving owners and breeders show alot of annomosity towards these dogs and put them down and call them fat squats, couch potatoes, etc. but i just believe that they are afraid of change. Because now the bully breeders are breeding away from the real reason why these dogs were bred to do. Fight.. they were bred for their gameness. they dont need this gameness any more, theres no purpose because fighting them is illegal now
Actually ambullys ARE apbt. through a process of selecive breeding, using the biggest less game apbt they can find and breeding them for decades until the get these super big and tame apbt. alot of ppl think that they arent full bred and cross bred but the reality of it is theyre just giant pitbulls. you can do this kind of selective breeding with any breed of dogs, even humans can do it too. actually that's what the spartans use to do, kill the weak keep the strongest. they were so atlethic.
You're def. right...there is no such thing as an American Bully. It's just that so many ignorant people had interbred these dogs so much that they're losing their actual breed qualities and just looking like fat, short and block headed dogs. I think these "bullies" are kind of ugly but that's just my opinion. Other than that, you either have one of these breeds or a mixed dog. I love APBT's! :)
@saisha57 Actually Bullies have just as much will to please as the pit does... I have both a pit and a bully and by far I will take my bully out before I would my pit. Both are loving well trained dogs but my pit still has tendencies that I fear could cause trouble... I have no problems with playing with my Bully, he actually out lasts my pit on walks and trainings sometimes... And that couch potato thing is a desired trait these dogs love to chill with you no matter what the situation...
@saisha57 :) My AmBully has TONS of energy and will play fetch as long as I throw his kong. But he gets the message that when I stop and sit down, that's his cue that play time is over and he'll lay at my feet. We knew we wanted a bully breed and chose an AmBully because we already have an 11yo with ADHD ;-) IMO, ABPT's have ADHD and ODD, while Bully's match the energy of their owners :) Sidenote: My AmBully is only 20in high and about 50 pounds - but is distinctly NOT an ABPT

A question I still haven't figured out yet is. Are the bullies athletic like the APBTs? Would it be better to have a bully because it might not be able to jump the fence? Hope you guys can help me with this question.
@92cvang The APBT is a VERY athletic dog... deff not the dog for everyone.
The American bullies are more laid back and less active then the APBT. Either breed could jump a fence... if your worried about that then the dog needs to be trained not to jump fences.
If your thinking about getting one of these breeds please do your research and check the BSL laws in your area.
@saisha57 Thanks for your reply. I already have a APBT and I know he is very athletic. For me, one of the most important thing you can do for your pet is know as much about them as you can, so I did do research before getting him and is still trying to know as much as I can.
I was thinking that since some people like their bullies so short and buff, it just doesn't seem like they can get the jump out of those short arms with a huge body also pulling them down.
My mom has a 6ft fence that her little beagle mix can jump like its nothing. But i honestly couldnt picture a bully jumping a fence... they werent bred to be athletic and they are very top heavy.
@92cvang I have a bully and there is no way she can jump a fence. She's probably as wide as she is tall and can't even hop out of a 2ft high whelping box. I take her out on runs all the time so she's not fat either. However, she can only make 2 or 3 miles before she is exhausted. I think of my bully as an English bulldog with a pitbull head

@92cvang American bullies are very athletic as long as they dont come from the "hippo lines". there are a couple videos on here of AM bullies hanging in the air and jumping pretty high they are just not as athletic as a TRUE APBT. Its like comparing a olympic runner to a weight lifter.
The Am Bully is a fairly new breed that carries few characteristics of the APBT, like it's facial look & appearance , but lack the APBT structure and height and very much it's athletic performance. But as time will pass the Am Bully will be in a class of it's own, as the ABKC is also fairly new it's going to take time for the club to be recognized!! I've owned both of these breeds.
Hands down the American Bully has a better temperment.
The aggression has been breed out of this breed.
Wonderful with people, children, and other animals.
I'm not saying APBT can't be fine dogs, just that on a whole American Bully's are more domesticated.

show cropping is to have a better view at the apbts jaw/head structure. cropped & uncropped ears suit this breed,as it doesnt on many other breeds. the reaon why people get confuced with apbt and ambully is that most abullie kennels have the name apbt stamped on to it.

@zuel71 People crop ears for different reasons. Mostly for looks. Not always for fighting, or to look meaner. Like a lot of show APBTs and Am.staffs have cropped ears, because they look "better" that way. Its all about what the owner wants. If you have it done by a vet who knows what they're doing, and make sure you take care of the ears properly then their is nothing wrong with cropping, in my opinion. Its mostly just for looks. :)

I love working and gambred APBTs, beautiful dogs! Love their drive, versatility and determination. But why all the Bully bashing? Not everyone can handle working dogs, if people started breeding American Bullies so that they're sound and healthy but keep the calm housedog attitude. Stay-At-Home-Joe could get an American Bully that needs moderate exercise. And not have a drivey potentially DA APBT just sitting doing nothing, and building frustration due to lack of.

@gravitythakid They are quickly becoming their own breed. They even have their own registry now (ABKC) and can be reg. with the UKC and ADBA. Some people view them as pure bred, and some people don't. They are still a very new breed, so it might take some time for them to be considered their own breed and not a pit bull.

Yes, they are mutts. People usually breed Neapolitan Mastiffs, British Bulldogs and French Mastiffs with Amstaffs and APBTs to create these monsters. The true nature of an APBT will never let him hurt a human, while these other breeds are protection and attack dogs. Therefore what you get can be a very dangerous animal.

The Am.staff, staffy, APBT, Am.bully, and all their mixes are considered pit bulls(along with any pure bred/mixed breed that looks like a pit). I would much rather call them each by the name to clear up confusion. And yes, the American Bully is its own breed.. More like a designer breed i guess... And I have nothing against the bully.

The APBT was designed to be a properly proportioned animal. Instead, idiot drug dealers and "gangsters", think they need a dog with a monstrous head to protect them. The over breeding of APBT with those, technically, undesirable traits have, unfortunately, created a large population of defective APBT's. Just looking at their stance, it is easy to tell they have many prone problems just waiting to happen. Their heads are often huge and way too big for the necks and their back legs often too horrible. The American bully is really much like a bulldog, bred solely for looks and have a wide range of health issues. They aren't bred for nor are they known for their athleticism. The APBT are much more friendly and less lazy. The bully has a hard time walking sometimes because of it's stature and way too many muscles. Nothing but a mutt that has tarnished the image of a REAL pitbull to me.

the apbt and am bully definately have become 2 different breeds. they may not have started out that way but is very much the case 2day. yes the am bully comes directly from the apbt but lets not be ignorant the blood has been heavily mutted up. the problem with am bullies is allot of the time ther bred for looks not health. not all bullies have problems but its not uncommon. the apbt on the other hand has very few health problems due to breeding programs that emphasize fuction instead of looks

i cross breed a red jeep boy/ chinaman blood line (fighting line APBT) with a gotti line (bully line APBT) and he was super massive and also had all the gamenes, all the athleticism. What i'm trying to say is he was fucking bad ass... He literally was the best of both world's. He was as big as a rott but had all the gameness of a apbt. i literally think theyre unstoppable to any dogs. That might possible by the ultimate fighting dog with both size and gamess.

ukc and akc do solitifies these bully breeds as apbt. alot of apbt loving owners and breeders show alot of annomosity towards these dogs and put them down and call them fat squats, couch potatoes, etc. but i just believe that they are afraid of change. Because now the bully breeders are breeding away from the real reason why these dogs were bred to do. Fight.. they were bred for their gameness. they dont need this gameness any more, theres no purpose because fighting them is illegal now

Actually ambullys ARE apbt. through a process of selecive breeding, using the biggest less game apbt they can find and breeding them for decades until the get these super big and tame apbt. alot of ppl think that they arent full bred and cross bred but the reality of it is theyre just giant pitbulls. you can do this kind of selective breeding with any breed of dogs, even humans can do it too. actually that's what the spartans use to do, kill the weak keep the strongest. they were so atlethic.

@saisha57 Actually Bullies have just as much will to please as the pit does... I have both a pit and a bully and by far I will take my bully out before I would my pit. Both are loving well trained dogs but my pit still has tendencies that I fear could cause trouble... I have no problems with playing with my Bully, he actually out lasts my pit on walks and trainings sometimes... And that couch potato thing is a desired trait these dogs love to chill with you no matter what the situation...

But he gets the message that when I stop and sit down, that's his cue that play time is over and he'll lay at my feet. We knew we wanted a bully breed and chose an AmBully because we already have an 11yo with ADHD ;-) IMO, ABPT's have ADHD and ODD, while Bully's match the energy of their owners :) Sidenote: My AmBully is only 20in high and about 50 pounds - but is distinctly NOT an ABPT

one look at 1:34 and i would have to respectfully differ in opinion.
i love apbts for their atleticism, lack of genetic disorders and great temperament, both breeds are beautiful though.

Razors Edge, Gottiline , GrayLines, XXL, Red Rum and Monster G line, Remyline, Marcuslines are not APBTS, PITS, PITBULLS that is fact. FUCK any moron that fight dogs don't work them out in Weight pulling, Hunting, and Personal Protection. But people really need to understand the truth. A question I still haven't figured out yet is. Are the bullies athletic like the APBTs? Would it be better to have a bully because it might not be able to jump the fence? Hope you guys can help me with this question.

@92cvang The APBT is a VERY athletic dog... deff not the dog for everyone.
The American bullies are more laid back and less active then the APBT. Either breed could jump a fence... if your worried about that then the dog needs to be trained not to jump fences.
If your thinking about getting one of these breeds please do your research and check the BSL laws in your area.

@saisha57 Thanks for your reply. I already have a APBT and I know he is very athletic. For me, one of the most important thing you can do for your pet is know as much about them as you can, so I did do research before getting him and is still trying to know as much as I can.
I was thinking that since some people like their bullies so short and buff, it just doesn't seem like they can get the jump out of those short arms with a huge body also pulling them down.

@92cvang It just depends on the dog its self.
My mom has a 6ft fence that her little beagle mix can jump like its nothing. But i honestly couldnt picture a bully jumping a fence... they werent bred to be athletic and they are very top heavy.

@92cvang I have a bully and there is no way she can jump a fence. She's probably as wide as she is tall and can't even hop out of a 2ft high whelping box. I take her out on runs all the time so she's not fat either. However, she can only make 2 or 3 miles before she is exhausted. I think of my bully as an English bulldog with a pitbull head

@92cvang Bro you should know by now it's not about how high a dog can jump or how fast, trust me "GO BULLY OR GO HOME" (That's how I Feel) and more than half of the nation will tell you like-wise....the other few will lead you towards= always worrying about whats going to come your way, day in and day out....not saying that anything "will" happen, but just suggesting.....don't judge the book by it's cover or should you...GO BULLY!

@92cvang American bullies are very athletic as long as they dont come from the "hippo lines". there are a couple videos on here of AM bullies hanging in the air and jumping pretty high they are just not as athletic as a TRUE APBT. Its like comparing a olympic runner to a weight lifter.

The Am Bully is a fairly new breed that carries few characteristics of the APBT, like it's facial look & appearance , but lack the APBT structure and height and very much it's athletic performance. But as time will pass the Am Bully will be in a class of it's own, as the ABKC is also fairly new it's going to take time for the club to be recognized!! But in my opinion "for each it's own" if an APBT or an Am Bully is the dog of your choice then be it, but remember both breeds have bad reps so if
