@ZaffireWolf Folks talk about what a shame it is that some episodes are now lost for Dr Who. The same is also the case for many older Asian anime that are at best sitting in storage somewhere rotting away after decades! One series I wish could be found is TIME QUEST (TONDEKEMAN) that was sub in Hawaii back in the 80s. Has anyone got #7,8,12,20,23,32,35? Even w/o subs would be great. Also if anyone has a guide maybe they could help me ID 3 Japan episodes I have? TIME QUEST has time travel too!
@KAISERANIME I'm not much into Japanese cartoons, but I can relate, especially to the older stuff. Putting aside the nostalgia and surrealist factors in retro content, and the more challenging availability of such, even as not an anime fan I still think it was kind of better back in the days in many regards. But then I'm just in favor of older, hand-drawn-looking and stop-motion animation in general.
@ZaffireWolf Yes anime etc really started to go downhill in the90s. Kinda like compare the old Macross,Gundam,Ultraman,Super Sentai w/new. Anime in the 60s to 80s was best. What I don't like is now we have Power Rangers where they censor all Japan actors etc. Folks never used to have problems w/ULTRAMAN,GIANT ROBO,SPACE GIANTSetc,it was English dubbed. How'd you like it if Saban took Dr Who & censored all British actors & replaced them with US teens? Not a pleasant thought! Old anime was best!
@KAISERANIME They DO do that. They tried to do it with The IT Crowd, remaking the series with an American cast, despite the fact that EVERY SINGLE JOKE TRANSLATES ABSOLUTELY PERFECTLY. It's sad people don't realize how futile regionalism is. Just look at DVD manufacturing. Discrimination in progress.
Still, at least with the Power Rangers, what they ended up with was unintentionally humorous. Just check out the Bulk and Skull series, or better yet, Angel Grove High on YouTube here.

Sadly, the first Doctor appears to be half-senile with no sense of adventure whatsoever. Also, since he's so old-looking, it's safe to assume that he didn't want to risk regenerating. Pity, because all of his other incarnations are the ones we like.
Listen can you animate the entire lot. I can never get into the audio adventures. The BBC paid to do the invasion using a similar idea just not colour and it came out great. You should apply to the BBC and show them your work well done
Not a bad effort; I thought the Cosgrove Hall animations looked better, but this came out well, considering what you had to work with. I would love all the "lost episodes" completed or restored in this fashion. The Invasion was the only lost story that was restored in animation on DVD, but apparently it didn't sell well enough so no more were made.
Very good. Interesting that the Doctor says he thought he was going to be alone again - again? When was the last time - on Gallifrey? Does this imply that he had adventures without Susan?
@outofthegreenmist Probably. It is likely that he left Susan on Earth for a bit whilst he traveled. It is for that reason that some fans like to think he had adventures from the strangely Doctor Who-ish French novel about Dr. Omega. Doctor Omega looks like and acts like the Hartnell Doctor/
@outofthegreenmist You are welcome. It is sadly quite hard to fine, especially in any language other than French, but I have seen it on some online shops.
Thanks for restoring part of this episode. The 2nd also offered others jelly babies, and the tenth said "brilliant". I first heard of geek on the show called "happy Days" where Jenny Picalo and Jony call Eugene and his brother Melvin that. These were epsisodes from the early 80's And later heard a man who owned a computer or a robot on the show "Riptide" being called a geek. This was also an american show that was on in the 80's.
The "What's all this then?" bit and Hartnell's response cracks me up every time! The timing on the animation is great. That and Ben's monkeyboy expression in the wide shot.
The "Hm?"s made the first Doctor. The flute made the second Doctor. The martial arts made the third Doctor. The Jelly babies made the fourth Doctor. The innocence made the fifth Doctor. The instability made the sixth Doctor. The strategic mind made the seventh Doctor. The light heart-ness made the eighth Doctor. The ears made the nine Doctor. And finally the "WHAT?!"s made the tenth Doctor :P Had to say that
Excellent work. Lovely to enjoy this visually. It's one of my favourite scenes from the Hartnell era - it's unapologetic in pandering to the audience and yet strangely touching that the Doctor thinks for a moment about travelling alone.
This is a good attempt, but i would have to say that the bbc's attempts are better, mainly because they trawl through original scripts, stage directions etc to get everything exactly right. the problem is the expense they have to go to to animate them, i heard they spent £60,000.00 for 2 episodes of "The Invasion"
The Cosgrove Hall Invasion isn't based on scripts or stage directions really. There are a lot of errors - Zoe isn't even in the right costume in episode 1. On the other hand, I certainly used scripts and stage directions in my work, but animation is different from live action and I prefer to go my own way. I match the telesnaps though, when I can.
I didnt say your work wasn't good, on the contrary, it is very good, but I was replying to a user who said that the cosgrove hall animations were rubbish, which they aren't. and neither is this.
By the way, Cosgrove Hall do read scripts and records of episodes when they are available. In The Invasion, there is an ad lib from PT which has been animated for the dvd. just so you know
I would never say the Invasion isn't good either - it is. I love the rotoscope-y action scenes. But it's not entirely without its faults researchwise, which is what I was commenting on.
This is very good. Excellent in fact, very impressive. I just watched the war machines not long ago so interesting to see the next bit as well, The Doctor seems a bit grumpy he seemed in a much better mood when he went in the Tardis just before this.
Thanks. I got all the episodes without linking narration from a friend .... they're floating out there. You can also get a Loose Cannon reconstruction, those never have narration (though quality may not be great).
I now have an accurate version of the console actually - you can see it briefly in The Massacre. At some point I should re-render these backgrounds including a more accurate console.
The Doctor is not half human now, he never was until the TV Movie. Now during the new series it has made it so he is a full Time Lord (Journeys End). It is on the fact file on the official Doctor Who website that he may have never been half human and was a joke.
Now that I had seen this again it looks like Ben and Polly were floating into the tardis and pushing their toes onto the floor once thee were on the floor. I like that your restored the scenes though and I chose it as one of my favorites.
This is a nice test shot. I mean test because the video is so short. I only read about this episode whe it was featured in "Doctor Who Archives" "Doctor Who Monthly" which was imported to the USA from England.
This is absolutely fabulous. It must have taken ages. It makes me hope that, one day, not too far off, we might be able to watch these stories again, because of dedicated people like you.
That would be true in the new series, where the interior doors are also police box doors - in the classic series the inner doors are this shape - I don't think they ever did this angle in the classic series, but if they did, it would probably look like this - they certainly never did it with police box doors!

they seem to bob around too much. watch the surviving episodes with the characters you animate and try to figure out their body language.
It's alright if they don't move around constantly so long as when they are moving, they feel alive.

Steven chose to stay behind and help mediate the peace between the two factions in The Savages.
An abandoned serial script would have had The Doctor returning years later and discovering that Steven had become a tyrannical despot.
