@tomagotch08 But it's ok. I think Kris really likes what he is doing these days. I just saw him in Worcester Ma this spring. He was great. Relaxed, played all my favorite songs of his that I have stolen and cover. LOL. God Bless you Kris!! PWarburton
I was at the Cash concert in Moncton,aug.16,1968 a couple weeks after Luther died.
Still have the newspaper clipping, and His autograph,June's,Mother Maybell,Carl Perkins .Took a lot of guts to put that show on so soon after Luther died.
Takes a lot of guts for Kristofferson to stand and sing about His friend.
Fame and fortune i guess comes with hard work and a gifted mind and heart .
What awesome entertainment we have witnessed because of sacrifices of two Gentlemen.
I remember a concert in Oakland Cal. he was with the carter family marty Robbins and the statlers bros. we bought a whole section of tickets and when the concert started we realized we were the only hippies in a sea of cowboy hats. They started jeering at us and making catcalls abothe long hair. But Johnny told them to cool it and gave a short lecture on loving one another then ask us what we wanted to hear him sing. 42 yrs ago I never forgot it.
What a songwriter is Kris, such a deep heart felt song, it sure zeroes in on the way of life in the 50's. I prefer Johnny's version, but Ray Stevens put out a good one also his was the first version I heard.
It's as if he wrote the song specifically for the voice of Johnny Cash...but the authenticity or voice of Kristofferson makes the song even more special...
@jkiene amen. Bobby McGee was for Janis, we all knew it, he never sang it til she found freedom.
Seems Kris kept it HER song. He finally sang it himself, the proof was in the pudding... a tribute to Janis, nada song he had any rights to. (whadda gift.) tha same unwitting gift Sunday Morning was to Johnhy. He's 75. will that littly boy grin'n them sweet shy eyes ever elude us? Not'n my world. then agin, disco was all about me lookin hot'n spandex forever. ( so ya nevah know.)
Great tribute to John.

@3Spikes2glry That is a ridiculously cool story. Almost too good to be true. I really hope it is though!
