I am scared to tell you then, that for Ms. Delois 85th birthday this past March I had the opportunity of spending time with her and Ms. Billie at her house, and she signed my book as well. They are wonderful women. I thank God that I had the chance to know them on a personal level. I miss talking to Ms. Delois on the phone. She was awesome. I consider it a blessing from God.

They are not relate but they sang together. In 1940, Sallie formed the Sallie Martin Singers, with Roberta Martin (1907-1969), Willie Webb, and Eugene Smith. The later members of her group were herself, Roberta Martin, and Doris Akers.

got the dvd a week ago from amazon. THe 25th anniversary edition is really cleaned up, and it includes a cd of the music only. Also on the DVD, you can find menu to play just the music selections. My mother LOVED it. I filmed her watching it as I have her enjoying Mahler's 8th and b-minor mass by Bach. She's 87.
