  • i love that distinctive twangy guitar of the police

  • Crack a lack sound off the snare, nobody does that these days; pity

  • I FUCKING LOVE THE POLICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • classic cut from the Police, Sting's bass and Stewart's drumming really drive the song, and Andy's guitar riffs are perfectly placed.

  • wow this song really applies to the current state of the world

  • Shinobu Nakayama, she's Japanese and smoking hot!!

  • what's the name of the chick on the beginning of the video?

  • I remember when I saw Red Planet and I was like WTF is that badass song. Cant say how surprised I wasnt when it was Sting,

Just wish I could find the version from red planet... it was a bit faster n hipper.

  • @way2faded Remix from Red Planet is Different Gear vs The Police - When The World Is Running Down watch?v=pOVljWm7P-8

  • This 30+ year old song is better than anything on the radio today. Case closed.

  • @philaman1972 i discovered it on the radio... novaplanet . com

  • 8 viewers who disliked this video jack off in front of their Lindsay Lohan posters...

  • copeland locks into the groove like no other. this cat epitomizes precision

  • This video represents all the hardships throughout my life.

  • Ditto on Stu's crackalackin snare. It's not uncommon for today's music, but for 80's music it's extremely unusual. Every stupid producer in the 80's insisted that the snare drum should sound like a floor tom with a hint of snares on the bottom of it. I hated it. I was so glad when the 90's got a clue and introduced the piccolo snare to modern pop music. Hence, I crank my snare up so tight it's totally smackalicious!

  • Summers

  • the world IS running down... but i'm glad this song is still around.

  • jet li sucks

  • Summers!!!

  • exelent video, perfect to this song

  • Hey 56, Copeland is the fuckin drummer, not the guitarist. ..

  • @ghostinthemachine44 although copeland is the drummer, I do believe he wrote the music for several Police songs such as Miss Gradenko and Does Everybody Stare. The guy did compose several albums on his own, after all.

  • blame and accuse. I used to do that. But its just jealousy.

  • :-) @ 2:31

  • Timeless...

  • The way the song uses Copeland's guitar riffs is wicked. Underrated top tune. I've always loved the Police's stuff and I'm black! They transcend all racial barriers, and I think, one of the finest bands in the world> Rock on! From London

  • @56postoffice copeland is the drummer

  • @56postoffice

brother you are correct! i have been a fan since waking up one late night and the video for 'walking on the moon' was playing. i guess i was maybe 13 or 14. LOVE the police.....

    respect from another brother!

  • @56postoffice spot on man, they had the funk

  • @56postoffice I agree im an asian methhead and i jam out to this all twacked out on spank and crank

  • yehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh great song!!! so old but sounds well.

  • people really like their rock/pop music to have some significant message, some authentic sensibilities, and still to rock -- the Police were that band for some years - their attitude was New Wave, very much the wounded cynical idealists - that was protest music for the 80's. They handed off their crown to U2 eventually, but the Police were big in their prime, for good reason.

  • pretty relevant song these days, dudes.

  • inspia of you'er soul brothers at 1st time so just "comple." :)

    fm: strate gamers top __)

  • Rolando por ai...a little Portuguese in the mix...

    Rolling about....around...groovin & shakin.

  • The Police are a band of the 20th century that is special....other than the Beatles, they did some very very cool music. Turned it up as loud as possible back then. I'm a Black guy in his early 40's and they opened my mind to music other than R&B and Hip-Hop.

  • @oliviaethan Hey, Eddie Murphy was singing Roxane back in the 48 hours day. Sting has soul, that's why you connected with his sound. It's like Louis Armstrong said; "If it sounds good...it is good"!

  • @oliviaethan i agree with you sir. the police are very special . you cant find music this good nowadays. sting has soul and the music is bass-heavy. i love it. i cant get enough of it. im a white guy, for whatever that is worth

  • The kick to the left side of his head @ 2:29....man, Bruce never did that! Awesome move!

  • luv it!

  • when the world is running down....you make the best of what is still around...best wishes and happy dreams...wtfu... =)

  • i play drums but this drummer is killing it!!!!!!!!! nice and crispy tight snare drum awsome bass line

  • Comment removed

  • Early Jet Li ,chen zhen!!! (based on Bruce Lee s Chinese Connection-The original Chen Zhen) Nice!!!!

  • se desmorona todo..... pero Police aún asi marcó una epoca

    fantasticos!!!!!

  • Excelenteeeeeee..

  • two awesome things, karate fights and the police

  • Out of this world Fantastic deep base and the guiters!! fab

  • odd pairing of Jet Li and The Police, but they both rock so it works in the end. Fist of Legend is one of the greatest martial arts movies.

  • The bass is so groovy

  • Somehow this song relates to the US economy today.

  • Man, these chords rock.

  • perfectly...

  • Love this song---I hate the food I eat!!!!!

  • @bogalusa5 I remember echoing this sentiment when this song was out, as the food in the hall of residence where I lived then was pretty awful. On pork chops night, for example, the local chippy served at least 36 people from that hall.

  • My favorite line of any song; I hate the food I eat!! I mean who would think of that for a song...great band...Love em always!

  • kjjb'oib'obo'b'obo'b

  • Brilliant song, the video doesn't fit the content or vibe of the tune though.

  • Ahhhh YEA !! Great mems from the Summer before 8th Grade !!

  • @5171967cafk SO TRUE BRO!

  • A lot of music listeners are aware of this tune. Its a great one that needs more play.

  • "Fist of Legend" is one of my favorite movies. One of the few Kung Fu movies with solid character development. For other movies involving the Japanese invasion of China see "Ip Man" with Donnie Yen in his largest role yet.

  • ANY band who can play this with just half the feel and groove gets my friggin' vote!

THis is my ultimate test song for grooving out! Three chords, and a boom-clap beat. but, f*ck me, its hard to get down....

  • @madgabz i know a band

  • I've seen the live versions, but I think the original has the best atmosphere

  • What a freakin' badass video.

  • jet li knows kung fu, btw his gurl from the movie looked hot like fukada

  • Perhaps their most underrated song.

  • @mamaskiddy LMFAO!! I'm pretty sure he said, "You make the best of what's still around", but I like YOUR version better!! ROFL!! XD

  • A song for those Determined Souls who prevail where others succumb. Thanks for Posting!

  • I fucking HATE the Police, but I heard this song on the radio at work today and I was fucking blown away by it. Came home and googled the lyrics; had no idea it was the Police!

  • @sticker14 your a jerkoff, all their shit is great

  • Cant believe noone has sampled this riff!

  • Make the best of whats still around. This should be our governments new national anthem. I vote for the Sting for President and coincidentally that should be fairly easy considering this already a police state. lol

  • when i feel lonely here, don't waste no time on tears, I run Deep Throat again, it ran for years and years

  • excellent record ...

  • Listened to Zenyatta on my mom's vinyl in the 80's and she calls me the other day and she heard this song on an 80's station and I had to tell her who sang it and send her the song on digital. Weird to think that she had the albums but I knew more about the Police. This music is timeless and my kids will be listening to it someday.

  • was 5yo and had zenyatta mondatta on 8 trak in '80. good times!

  • yes but could he take sonny chiba?

  • can do without the chink video; just post pictures of the guys instead.

  • @mamaskiddy Stew that brew !!!

  • Fuck yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! do I have enough H'S??????????????

  • you Jam on this song and continue on to Canary in a coal mine then man in a suitcase and finish it with Reggatta de Blanc. Ultimate Jam

  • fuckin jammin to this!

  • @mamaskiddy hahahahaah

  • This song reminds me of my dreams. I'm kickin a## with the smell of sugar cookies in the background. Long live Fist Of Legend!!!!!

  • So simple yet outstanding...

  • @danmarch002 whats a ridiculous fast solo when can just SLOW DOWN and jam :D. less is more haha good point yo

  • hmm, the song is great but... what the hell does this video have to do with it? :S!

  • @Tenma96 Wondered that myself...I think we're just missing something.

  • @viewer362 Yup... xDD

  • 5 disilkes? What is wrong with people?

  • Great song, fuk da Gook Video WTF ?

  • @CriminalPsycho Racist fucker!

  • @CriminalPsycho it only pokes at a "gook" if thats what you want it to be. I see it as them showing of their crazy moves and fighting against the forced oppression that japan put on the tibetan people.

  • The Police is still new wave.

  • funky! one of their best songs.

  • Best Police song ever....what's with the Jap chicks?

  • thank god my dad got me into the police at such a young age, thanks for adding this song it is definatly bringing back some really great memories. and checking out jet li fuck some shit up isnt too bad either

  • Nobody loves this song more than me. NOBODY. : )

  • @Tamaslammer I used to listen to this album, (on vinyl) when it came out. I played it to death, I've always loved this track - easily the best track on Zenyatta Mondatta.

  • @mamaskiddy lol...

  • When PEAK OIL is hitting the slammer.....it's time to listen to the POLICE

  • This song was so damn ahead of it's time....

  • How many people have ever lowered their windows and blasted their radios when this song came on?

  • That snare crack is the sound of my youth. And there's none I'd prefer.

  • What movie is this?

  • Great song. Garbage video.

  • One of their best song!!!!

  • Andy Summers, very underrated musician!

  • @VooDooBuddhaHead Check out his stuff on itunes and Stewart's work with William Orbit. Thank God they came back together.

  • This was the song that inspired me 2 play. Chimmering chorus Andy summers 20 years ago I picked up the guitar thanks Andy ,cause I aint putting it down.

oh yea, the 80's called and said it wants back all the stirrup pants in your closet...

  • Do you even like the music from the police???

  • I like The Police, but that stirrup pants comment is pure funny.

  • Get out of here and go listen to your so called *rap crap* cause you don't even deserve to listen to good music.

  • Shes hot if you have yellow fever. Otherwise no more than average.

  • @NeaonBHB

I used to have yellow fever... then I watched Japanese porn AND IT RUINED IT! Big bush + it always sounds like they're crying.

  • @sithyness Yeah Japanese porn is terrible. But Chinese is my weakness.

  • I run Deep Throat again (naughty boy)!

  • dj ron hardy at the music box chi/town the best r.i.p

  • YEAH!!!! This was Real Live 80's Rock!!!!

  • I'm the Police's biggest fan. However, with some videos on Youtube...Music adds something to the video....Rarely, the video adds something to the music....as is the case with this video....well done.

  • What is the tami show?

  • The tami stands for teenage awards music international show. James Brown did an amazing performance there one year....as Sting implies in the lyrics....:)

  • 2:29 has got the most unrealistic looking kicks in history.

  • I agree about the groove the vid and the snare drum. An I didn't know guitar lingo got that foreign. deng

  • When I hear this is my car I start boppin' and groovin' around! People at the light next to me give me the wierdest looks. Fuck 'em if their lives are so dull and devoid of joy they can't dance to the Police!!

  • fuck em police rule !

  • @BurningChrome Imagine a 205 lb muscular black guy jamming to this at the light..... Thats me. And I get the wierdest looks. But "fuck'em if their lives are so dull and devoid of joy they can't dance to the Police.

  • @scginda803 hell yea!!! man, it dont matter what color you are. good music is good music. !!!!

  • @BurningChrome hey i have alot of respect for people like u well done

  • @BurningChrome

I had and still having the same experience at stop lights, especially with this song, I cannot stop myself, the groove is haunting!

  • @iliveinthepast Oh yeah!!! Best 'Car Bop' song and kills traffic jam blues! :)

  • @solution777 I posted it on my facebook wall as a great drivin' song... Funny you said the same.. I'd blast this song in my convertable, while stopped in traffic, people would stare as if they'd never heard such music. I suppose they hadn't..

  • @BurningChrome Word.....This is on my PCH drive disc.

  • @BurningChrome you know what ?I do the same !!!

  • @BurningChromeSeems I not the only person that loved hearing this in my car.. I had the cassette back when this came out, and would blast it in my car... Wonder why people liked driving to this song?

    Great movie!!!

  • Does anyone know the chord progression here?

    Thanks,

    Dante
