fedor/crocop/wanderlei all fought a ton of people who were no where near top level (which i think is a great thing: it's awesome seeing top guys wreck people). i liked pride a million times more than ufc, but my point is still completely valid
@TehPenar Pride fighters have more fights under their belt then most UFC fighters. Some of them have 100 fights or more. They would run out of people to fight so they had to fight fails sometimes. Nothing is cooler then watching a top gun wail on someone who sucks. It is more eventful then watching two top fighters circle eachother and go 5 rounds that only has a winner by decision and not a knockout.

mirko hits 2x stronger then fedor, and fedor was closing him with short steps, very unsable, but mirko was paying too much attention not to get submissioned, not believing in what he learned to counter it. few leg kicks while fedor was closing, and fedor would stop moving towards, then we would see real fight. still cant say who would win, but i know that 1 mistake would decide a match.

I really can only guess at what Fedor's strategy was for the Arlovski fight, but I have to say there was a lot of hype about Arlovski's boxing training with Roach, and Andrei was starting to look like the favorite in a lot of ppl's eyes. To me, it looked like Fedor played Arlovski's game, stayed standing and took a few quick jabs, then he just kind of waited for Arlovski for make a mistake, which he capitalized on. Arlovski looked great, but Fedor wasn't afraid of CroCop, a more feared striker.

Arlovski had great hand speed and crisp boxing, but I always thought his sub-par striking defense and sub-par chin would keep him from being in the upper echelon of the HW division. Although when he was fighting Fedor those two didn't even factor in, it was his rash decision to go for a flying knee with no set-up and Fedor's power coupled with arlovski's momentum would have koed anybody except maybe a prime Mark Hunt chin.
Some UFC classes really lack good fighters. Their middleweight is pathetic, everyone who tries to fight ASilva can't even stand without pissing their pants, not to mention to put up a good fight. UFC's heavyweights aren't too bright either, Frank Mir is alright, but that's it. How Sylvia and Andrei got beaten by Fedor proves how the Heavyweight championship on UFC doesn't mean a lot, at all.

mirko hits 2x stronger then fedor, and fedor was closing him with short steps, very unsable, but mirko was paying too much attention not to get submissioned, not believing in what he learned to counter it. few leg kicks while fedor was closing, and fedor would stop moving towards, then we would see real fight. still cant say who would win, but i know that 1 mistake would decide a match.

Mirko showed too much respect, tooo much. Yes Fedor is dominant and stats say the best, but mirko to be honest surendered by choosing that strategy. Yes hew blew fedors face away, yes he didnt get nocked out or submissioned, but he was moving backward instead of trying to use his strongest weapon. Man a rematch is what a await. It will happend i guarantee after Mirko wins UFC title.

Mirko can barely win any of his UFC matches, so I can hardly imagine that he will win a title. Secondly, *every* opponent who has not shown caution against Fedor has gotten knocked out - Filipovic certainly took the safer (and smarter) route. He knew if he could prolong the fight, he would increase his chances by winning by decision. Even though that did not happen, it was a good tactical move by Mirko.

I really can only guess at what Fedor's strategy was for the Arlovski fight, but I have to say there was a lot of hype about Arlovski's boxing training with Roach, and Andrei was starting to look like the favorite in a lot of ppl's eyes. To me, it looked like Fedor played Arlovski's game, stayed standing and took a few quick jabs, then he just kind of waited for Arlovski for make a mistake, which he capitalized on. Arlovski looked great, but Fedor wasn't afraid of CroCop, a more feared striker.

Arlovski had great hand speed and crisp boxing, but I always thought his sub-par striking defense and sub-par chin would keep him from being in the upper echelon of the HW division. Although when he was fighting Fedor those two didn't even factor in, it was his rash decision to go for a flying knee with no set-up and Fedor's power coupled with arlovski's momentum would have koed anybody except maybe a prime Mark Hunt chin.

Some UFC classes really lack good fighters. Their middleweight is pathetic, everyone who tries to fight ASilva can't even stand without pissing their pants, not to mention to put up a good fight. UFC's heavyweights aren't too bright either, Frank Mir is alright, but that's it. How Sylvia and Andrei got beaten by Fedor proves how the Heavyweight championship on UFC doesn't mean a lot, at all.

I agree. Except that the Andrei of today, is ten times better then the Andri who had the UFC title, and struggled against Sylvia 2 times out of 3. As soon as he got with Paul Roach, one of the best boxing trainers in the world, he won his last 2 fights with UFC, then left and continued his win streak all the way up until Fedor. And he was actually doing quite well in that round until he decided to go fancy

My fav fight has got to be Fedor vs Herring. No one gave Fedor a shot against Herring at that time. Fedor was the big underdog going into that fight, and he proceeded to put on a clinic. Even Bas and the other commentator were in denial about what they were witnessing until halfway through the fight. They woke up and realized, wait a minute, Herring is getting it taken to him.
