@bestamerica It's a great design... one that revolutionized designs of American autos from the boxy-style of the 1980s to the round, aerodynamic style of the 1990s.
i meant as a general term for wagon... i hate that all we have is minivans now in place of these. I guess the SUV got them to but i like those,... all i meant was that i miss the idea of a wagon in the general market place... All we have is the XC70 now but i would prefer a car that is more affordable for the masses
I guess it's all relative, mine's never given me any trouble, much better than the previous (new) Chrysler's I've owned, where the cruise control randomly engagues on its own, and then directs full throttle, or when they wouldn't start. The Taurus seems to always get me there, without any trouble.
Jesus, used to be a few of them parked near me from 89 - 91, (in the uk). Was living next to american airforce quarters and there was a pontiac and loads of US ford escorts!! Crazy to think that now we have chevy's over here again. My mum actually drove this huge uk version chrsyler saloon from the 70s for 4 years in the 80s!
ahh stuff like that can happen with any model of car of any year ya gotta thank the taurus if it werent for this car the cars today would look just as ugly as the cars 25 years ago
@dadsoldtapes " ya gotta thank the taurus if it werent for this car the cars today would look just as ugly as the cars 25 years ago ". Totally agreed. The Taurus was most certainly a forerunner of body design. Heck, many companies still copy that bulge of the Taurus door handle area that runs the length of the car. Design thieves.
my step mom spun out on the highway in summer 2005 luckily we drove away without getting hit!! then in january 25 2008 me and my father were coming back from my school and we get smashed into in the back left fender it spun out of control! the part was smashed into the tire and we hit a side walk blew out all his brand new tires he bought in december old enough to not start again!! luckly all i walked away with was whip lash but my dad had
ya well I mostly use this account to upload old Ford videos for other enthusiasts and alot of the vids happen to be about the Taurus
I do own 2 1991 Tauri tho, a regular Taurus and a 5spd SHO. Its kind stupid for a 19yr old to have 2 cars, but they're in great shape and I do any work myself and avoid the high cost of mechanics
well i dunno wat was actually so great about the Taurus it wasn't exactly that flashy a car it was though very futuristic for its time when it was released in '85
I grew up with one of these!!! It was a pretty cool family truckster!

This was one of the ugliest cars of the 80's.

These 85-00 Taurus suck not enough power as the 2001-2011 are which are better to me.

okay thank,,,
i did look at this SW ford car is still not good design,,,
prove it,,,
1 - NO have 2 amber yellow lights on the rear taillights for turning sign and parking lot emergency,,,
2 - front grille is a block and not enough getting airflow cooler to the radiator / motor,,,
3 - two front amber lights on a grille is too far from turning sign on 008 to 009,,,
4 - two front amber lights must be on the fender both body sides,,,
5 - ford is a not good design and poor design

We both were wrong. Apparently they still make the wagons but not in mass production. Search google to see
