  • just a tip, the no sight use of a firearm is reflexive fire. being formerly of the 3rd ID out of ft stewart reflexive fire drills were pounded into our heads. i do it w/ my subcompact using old tee-shirts as targets, i dont draw but i go from completely relaxed stance not shooting stance to a snap shot and i am generally right where i want it to go, some times its an extremity shot

  • You go a bit overboard with the safety thing. Put the magazine in another room? Are you really that unsure of yourself? Come on.

As for lasers, you could also use a flashlight. Blinds the hell out of them, and you know where the gun is pointing. A bright-ass flashlight can completely debilitate them at night, and it's pretty intimidating, so you might not have to even fire a shot. Of course, you can't calibrate a light. And, with a shotgun...you want them to see the shotgun.

  • I have fealing id easily shoot someone but than bug out when i see the blood snd shit

  • the target my uncle uses is the cheapest onu u and use putt a sticker in the middle of a paper plate

  • lol @ tags

  • at 20:10 it looks like a videeo game

  • I believe Jose from the anime Gunslinger Girl had it right when he said "in combat sights are a luxury dont use them." i also think you should never pull a gun unless you truly intend to use it to shoot someone to save either yours or someone elses life.

  • I love the crimson trace laser grips. They're great.

  • For getting a concealed carry permit I made the decision that if I am going to pull it I will use it. "Its no longer a question, its a reaction". If you are thinking about a concealed carry permit, it will change your life.

  • Hey man thanks for the target site info :-j

What i do is print one of each out and take them into work and photocopy a whole lot for free on the big copy machine there... It pays to ask the boss first tho :-/ lol

Perhaps a link in your description would help out some of the less computer literate fans out there :-j

  • @hobo4524 that is actually the most awesome idea I've seen in ages. Gonna try this myself actually :) thanks dude. And yeah Jeff please do this if possible :)

  • hey jeff have you considered buying an airsoft gun like a glock replica and setting up targets around the house and starting in like your bedroom cuz if someone broke in a night thats were most people would be and then shoot all the targets to see how fast an accuratly you could shoot all the targets... just a suggestion oh and an edc video soon please :)

  • But lasers are a target indicator - other bad guys (if present) zero on the laser that points directly back to you. Point shooting covers conversation distance and in the dark, well you better be sure of your target - which requires a light instead - and the minute you illuminate the threat with a 50-80 lumen flashlight (blinding) - just put metal on meat and squeeze. ID threat, Shoot, Turn the light off and move. Yup, lasers don't work well in the bright sun. Lasers don't prevent trigger mash.

  • In other words: get a GREEN laser you won't believe the difference!!

  • I own a Viridian 5XL green laser. It's kick ass. Now, a green laser is also visible in daylight. In fact its visible even in bright sunlight, and anywhere in between 0 -15 feet which is more than enough! I think it is pretty handy and my experience is that you can aim very fast. However, take it to a range an you'll feel you have Parkinsons!

  • Good stuff. Like your vids

  • Thanks Jeff. Gr8 video. I am a big believer in lasers mounted on home defense weapons as well. Thanks for taking the time to share. I definetly learned a few things

  • Airsoft guns make very good training for those awkward positions like aiming from the ground, out of stance, etc.

  • HOLY SHIIIA

  • love this video..ive been in fights and i fully agree you can vapor lock a lot of the time fear of dieing fear of getting hurt can lock you up..Every one has a plan in a fight till they've been hit

  • Cool laser.. Btw, no need for the extended "safety check" explanation. Most know whats up .. screw the hall monitors

  • @Hhound there is a need, a lot of younger viewers see jeff as a role model, and he is doing the right thing. keep on keepin on jeff.

  • I definately agree with you on this. The laser in the circle is like a waitress / waiter carrying a plate around. She will spill some drinks the first time, but with time he / she learns to carry that plate straight. Holding you gun still is the same thing.

Perhaps you could make a video on silencers / suppressors (even if you don't own one) for self defense.

  • These are very important points, and things that you usually hear and practice in good gunfighting courses. Unfortunately, this isn't heard or talked about too much here on YT. I'm glad to see someone well-known and liked such as yourself espouse this methodology.

  • "That's increasing the possibility you're going to shoot yourself in the leg...Tex..." xD

  • Point and Shoot Method = Call Of Duty Shooting

  • Actually the Purple Laser would be better than both of the red and green from my own experience

  • Crimson Trace lasers can be seen in any lighting conditions, they're pricey but well worth the money.

  • Ruger SR22 Pistol is going to blow the p22 out of the water.

  • a lot of good advice here

  • Making your own kydex holsters, sheathe, etc.... Is not that hard or expensive. There are plenty of good "how to" videos and you get a custom fit

  • lolz at tex ref.

  • If you want the strongest and most visible laser, then go with a blue one. Human eyes cannot see light close to the ends of the light spectrum, which goes from red (inferred) to orange, yellow then green, blue and into violet (ultraviolet). The higher up it is, the more powerful the beam will be. That is why blu-ray players can read HD video because a blue laser carries more information along it's shorter, quicker wavelengths. So a red laser is actually weaker than a green one...

  • Two Reasons Why you Should Have a Gun In General;

    1) Zombies

    2) Apocalypse

  • @NeptuneMS385

    can't forget #3: the government.

  • Somebody should invent a rail-mount shaving razor . . . hilarious gag gift.

  • This is where the uk sucks!!

  • Jeff, I'm 15 years old and i watch almost all your gun videos BUT they don't make me want to go around with a gun shooting random people on the street. It just baffles me how some people think about guns.

  • Wats on the barrel?

  • @jeremypwn that thing on the barrel is a screw on cap that protects the threading...the barrel is threaded so that you can add a silencer/suppressor

  • @jeremypwn thread protector

  • col mustard with the candle stick in the closet

  • 'Seconds Count' says the guy who carries loose in a pocket with an empty chamber.

  • i watched about 5 minutes of the video but did not go further because i dont own a pistol yet (not 21) and because i think that a light would be a better option if i was going to put anything on it.

  • @mastersniper13 Well, first, it's 18 in a lot of states to own a handgun.

Secondly, what makes you go towards the light, so to speak, instead of a laser?

  • @illogicalmethod In my state, Oregon, it is 21 to buy handguns and 18 to buy long guns. I would lean towards a light because it would be nicer to use in a home defense situation where a laser would not light up the target and i would need to make sure to grab a handheld light.

  • The thing is the catridge in a printer is not even half full when you buy them, the cartridge they give with the printer that is

  • I personally don't like lSwrs. I know about 10 people that is the only to shoot. I can see battery failure when you need them the most. Or it's to bright purses to use them There are more reason that I do t like them. I would think these folks would learn to shoot without a lazier first. The 10 that I know have not a clue how to shoot a gun without a lazer. Just my thought on them. Also to find a holster that will fit your laser Nd firearm is another reason I don't like them.

  • you want to be able to use ur sights (duh) but if you have to fire with your gun close to your chest because you dont have room to sight in i rather hit my light and get a general idea of my target area. and as far as a shotgun with a tight beam light depending on your size of shot if its in the light it will ger hit. kind of like a shotgun style lazer that tapers to the spread of the shot

  • i love this vid because you make a great point of shooting with one hand while some one is on you trying to stab you lol im not a huge fan of lasers because from a one handed draw in the middle of a fight i can see how it might be hard to see you laser but iv never been in this situation so its all just speculation. but i love gun lights because a bright light works as a deturrent and if you have your light with a somewhat narrow beam it kind of works as a (if its in the beam it gets hit)

  • There is a time and place for Lasers , and that time and place is Sunday Night Laser Floyd at the Planetarium!!!

  • You have a food stain on your t-shirt.

  • Hey jeff is magnesium or something legal, i mean if you have super bright light under your gun witch is flashing the intruder wont be able to think clearly, just sayin'

  • @lenteboom Magnesium is used in firesteels, right?

  • Shoot yourself in the leg... Tex.

  • a green (405nm ?) 25mW laser is visible anywhere. over 80 mW and blue lasers are for burning.

  • My ink is like 10 bucks for a set... 3 Primary collours + black :p They last pretty long, too

  • or ask gavko to make you a kydex sheath for the gun with the laser xD

  • You look like you've lost SOOOO much weight, way to go jeff!

  • Fuck I wish I could own a gun.

  • Love your vid man, it was great :

  • i love that gun anyone know the price of it?

  • I'm not into gun particularly, but I found this very interesting.

  • lol your the best video maker on youtube I can watch a 30 minute video of yours on a subject that I dont even care about and be entertained the whole time! thank you.

  • i prefer a grenade launcher under the pistol..

  • I knew the hit on Tex was coming!!!! lol

  • Can u shoot on ur property?

  • Yeah I don't like dry firing my rimfires but I have to in order to disassemble/reassemble my 22/45 :(

  • @CarlPetaflop put old brass in it

  • Great video Jeff! Are you losing weight?

  • "uhhhh ihhhh, noo." haha :D

  • I use lasers on most of my guns. It just gives you the xtra edge and I like the odds on my side instead of the crack head.

If you are shot in your shooting hand you can use your weak hand without being a great shot and show the crack head you are still in the fight.

Best laser is the lasermax internal guide rod which I have on a glock 19, check out my videos.

    Glock n Load,

    Mike

  • @videosbymike You live on another planet. Wake up

  • @corpsemunger Perhaps he lives in reality, with the rest of us..

Or, would you care to point out how anything he said was wrong?

    What's that? You can't?

Right... You'll just try to say that cliché sayings means it's false....... Or some such silly illogical rhetoric.

  • if i am in the car and the guy with the gun comes up i hit the gas

  • @pete5668 Sure if your in a car and some guy comes up with a gun you can hit the gas, but what if there was a car or two or three in front of you and you can't push through. And also can't go on top of a sidewalk...

  • @counkev You can't draw on a drawn gun so you are dead unless you can distract the thug.

  • @pete5668 Actually, yes you can draw on a drawn gun.

Also, just because you get shot, doesn't mean you're going to die.. but that's a different conversation.

There's a philosophy that states action is faster than reaction.

You drawing and firing is an action, the thug would have to see you draw, process it and then decide to react.

Not totally good odds, but it is possible. Whether you're comfortable or not, is another story.

  • Don't know if anyone else saw the "Gold Series Air Pollution Control" advertisement...but that was really messed up...

  • Jeff I can really notice the weight loss good job mate

  • Damn right Jeff, my printer was £40 in a sale, the ink is £45 for a black and a colour!, insane!. I fill it my self these days, but its a messy affair, still, saves me a lot of pennies xD

  • You've lost ALOT of weight from when i used to watch you about a year ago... keep it up skinny! ;)

  • @cexyles222

    A LOT¨*

  • I am holding a green laser that is visible at 100meters during the day (20mW). Get a stronger laser and a green one. Green laser dots are more visible due to how the eye works.

  • Weight loss is showing...

  • The longest room in my house is 5 feet so I think i'm ok :)

  • well if you want to train for firearm defense get an airsoft gas blowback for a realistic feel so that you can train in your home or back yard and still be safe and legal

  • If you have a glock you can get a recoil spring with a laser in it! I think you did a video on it!

  • my ink is 60 bucks

  • Hey Cutlerylover! what that stain on your shirt?

  • you have a steady aim!

  • The video Tags make every video for me...its the little things that count ! lol

  • GREAT VIDEO!

  • What do you think about a weaponlight with a narrow beam instead? At close range, it should still point fairly precisely on a target, but not with pinpoint accuracy. In dimmer conditions, it has the advantage of killing someone's night vision.

Also, do you think training with a laser will cause your muscle memory to come to rely on lasers when youre not using it? If youre using a laser at home and regular sights out and about, you might get confused between them in the heat of battle.

  • hey jeff, are you still running that 1911 dirty or was it cleaned, i forgot.

    Regards Neodynium

  • @theNeodynium He's cleaned it.

  • lol what if a sumo wrestler trys to rob you i dont think a foot might even matter when the person wears size 250 waist pants XD all in joke yea lasers our great at night since it doesnt really take much time to point and shoot i would agree but they might fail when you need them most since they run on batterys.

  • Some good advice.

  • Also if you are pointed down on someone from behind cover holding your ground with your laser on it gives away your position and gives them something to shoot at. However on the flip side there is such thing as red dot compliance. I don't use lasers or lights on my guns but its just personal preferance nothing against people that do.

  • You're a funny guy. Good video.

  • Jeff, great video all your points were correct. To add to it I train prone and on my back but I'm a LEO. The hardest part is getting your gun out of the holster in those positions. Also I don't use a laser or advocate them. They run on batteries which can die I have seen guys mount red dots on ar's and rely on them so much they forget about iron sights. If you leave it on and the battery dies you go to use it and have no red dot. Same applies for lasers, they can fail.

  • Jeff; the only one that worries about the length of your videos is you. Have you ever sat down to watch your favorite TV show and thought:" I hope they made a short show today." No! You are hoping for an extended episode or that they play two episodes back to back. We watch you to be entertained. The longer the video the more entertainment.

  • I thought the purpose of rimfire snap caps was to allow dry fire without any chance of damaging your gun??

  • You're right. I never though of it that way. So when I wake up to a robber in my room I'll just be like "Hold up bro, I gotta turn my lazer on"

  • I avoided all the holster issues by getting a grip mounted laser. Doesn't affect the fit in any of my holsters.

  • Never thought about lasers until now. :-)

  • i love your videos man you always make me laugh i started hella laughing at 3:29 keep posting and always good job with your videos

  • i live in AZ and at my local range they have zombie targets, they are sweet haha

  • thats a beautiful weapon. i want a glock soooo bad!

  • kinda got to be a fight person when your a cop. the flight option is not really there

  • i dont know why but my eyes auto focus on your nostrils LOL

  • get of work sit down have a cup of tea and watch you Jeff lol

  • Okay I know it's all gun safety and all and I am very safe with my firearms but I do not understand why people say put your ammo in a another room while practicing does the ammo magically jump in the gun if it's in the room

  • not sure about the legalities of it, but what about printing off a few styles and then making massive copies at a copy place such as kinkos

  • another benefit of having a laser is the physiological affect.

  • @meloveFIRE

that was actually what i was anticipating him talking about, for at least one of the points.

  • I was lucky enough to be trained by a secret service agent who is a friend of mine many times at a private range, It was the best training I have ever had, especially falling backward and shooting from the ground on your back, also in the prone position, and shooting while walking/running. I encourage anyone who has the opportunity to take a training course or be trained by a professional to DO IT NOW!

  • what about the guns with crimson trace on the grip. my father owns a kimber like that that fits fine in the molded holster

  • guns? yeah sure its fun at the range however, i would nothing but a good recurve bow for self defence. why? reusable ammo baby! if that black boo that came into my house doesnt go down from one arrow, i will pull it out and shoot it over and over until that motherfucker's airbags stopped pumpin in my air!!!

  • JEFF YOU ARNT FAT AHAH YOUR A SKINY BASTARD NOW WELL DONE!! keep smoking that green brotha ;) haha

  • looking at your chin no razor either// practical vid good points

  • also a human body is a bigger target and even if you injure them you have enough time to finish what you need to do even if its either killing or disarming them

  • awe I like because brought up tex's

  • I have an idea!!! Fly to Russia and join the Spetsnaz forces lol... but seriously, nice vid jeff :D!

  • I aways spend more time looking for the laser instead of shooting. Learn how to point shoot plz...itll save you 200 dollers on a laser...

  • Just one more thing that you can add to this video or even a future one.. a laser is a good tool that someone physically handicapped could use, my father has muscular dis-trophy and he is confined to a wheelchair... he is looking to get a gun with a laser, for him it is more of a tool because he has trouble getting his arms to be held up so shooting from the hip for him is the only option, just another thing to think about... thanks for this video Jeff

  • Dont dry fire your guns Jeff... God...

  • @Majik1911 ?

  • @Solingen1000 Sarcasm. It was a joke, clearly a flop amongst some viewers.

  • On a pistol, I'd rather invest on night sights and a flashlight that I could strap onto the picattini rail, than a big laser. A grip laser I could get down with; but they are expensive and nor available for all guns.

  • @YoungBrave2006 On a rifle, I'd invest on an infrared weapon sight. For rifles the only reason I'd ever use a laser is for rangefinding, and I already have a rangefinding reticle and a BDC device on my rifle, and I'm pretty happy with them, so on both counts it's like, if you want to gift me a laser, fine; but if I have to spend a single dime on it, I'll pass until they make lightsabers.

  • yay a gun video from jeff!

  • Laser for CCw is a horrible idea , when your laser dies or breaks and you need to acquire a sight picture and all you are proficient in are lasers your stock intended sight picture is not going to come natural and you could have a bad delay and lose your life keep it simple under high stress your going to pint ad shot last thing on your mind is a laser and is it on my target out there it is I see it ! Bam ! not happening.

  • Wouldn't ammo end up being more expensive than printer ink?

  • Instead of a bayonet attachment, put on a balisong attachment.

  • @Eguan0 that doesnt make sense, but i love it

  • @cutlerylover do u carry your Walther P22 and if so do u think that a .22 is enough power for a protection round

  • you can dry fire rugers. 10-22 and the 22-45

  • The laser "might" give you that narrow margin of advantage that could make all the difference.

  • you scared me when you pushed the camera

  • Don't some manufacturers of rim fires say dry firing is ok, I know you can safely with the Ruger Single Six

  • WAIT A MINUTE, that viral video going around is TEX???? BWAHAHAHAHA!!!

  • Or print the targets off at work... lol

  • You gotta watch out for those damn candle sticks. I thought of the colonel also bud. lol

  • Oh... Okay it's "bleach" jaja

I said it was Mr. Green!!!

  • At a gun show once i saw a stack of Osama Bin Laden targets for free I should have grabbed like 20 haha

  • Green lasers are more powerful and brighter than red lasers. To figure out which is brighter/more powerful just go down the spectrum of light (ROYGBIV)

  • Excellent video Jeff. Thanks

  • printable targets are great, especially if your college allows you to print 125 pages a week from their printers :)

  • nice a long awaited gun vid!!!!!

  • one thing u didnt menchion and i know u r not giveing a self defence advise but just saying bring the wepon to your eyes not eyes to the wepon always keep your eyes on the target at all times

  • the way I train for self defense is I remove my sights. I have never had a need to use this skill, but it's nice to I can.

  • "..Tex" hahahhahaha

  • i love Targetz.com, oh yeah i print them at work and run mass copies, dont tell on me haha

  • Good video Jeff great advice there.

  • @cutlerylover I was robbed 2 months ago and had the same situation. Im 13 but my dad says if u here a noise that sounds like someone in our house grab the 870 and check. So i did this and came as you said afce to face with the man. But, be fore i could aim he flashed his flashlight in my eyes stunning me and he ran off. Im am now a proud owner of two dobermans and a new glock 17.

  • For the First time I actually enjoyed a you commercial

  • Something to remember is that just because you shoot the attacker doesn't mean he is going to stop.

  • Haha Tex his vid is so hilarious I just fucking shot myself

  • UUnnnggg heeurrr no dont do that

  • haha grab your gun dummy

  • I had that gun, was a pain in the butt jammed like crazy and the shells went everywhere...I ended up getting a heritage .22 revolver

  • Tex hasn't "flirted" with you in the comments a lot lately, Does he take Christmas/New Years off?

  • I find that I have pretty good natural targeting without even using combat sights .. never mind a laser

  • Comment removed

  • if you have a toner printer it, be fairly cost effective to print targets

  • I wanna throw a laser on my SR9, just looks incomplete.

  • that was a cool vid man very good

  • thr is another condition in the fight or flight, its condition black. its when u just freeze and every1 and i mean every1 will go into it even soldiers SF guyz 2. thing is u train train train. i had to learn at 7y/o about it when i went to play off base when i lived on Clark Airforce Base in the philippines. i almost got kidnaped by knife point. a local police officer saved by burst firing the guy with his UZI. i froze so bad i got sprayed in the eye with blood and didnt blink. still in my mind.

  • what happens in a high stressed situation is that your heart rate jumps very high, blood actually leaves your arms & legs making it difficult for fine motor skills, that's why u need to practice drawing and target practice under a high pressure situation to build muscle memory. Not doing this for a few months this skill diminishes, its really something you have to consistently maintain.
