paint is porous to some degree and by UV absorbtion can become more and more porous

the new waterborne paints are porous from the start

We add oils to the wax which is absorbed into the surface leaving the wax on the top of the paint (clear coat) for protection. Wax is not absorbed by paint. The oil from the wax is absorbed into the surface.
