  • how do you do the first part with elements 8?

  • Nice vid, thanks for letting me post my vid response!

  • this is the stupidest video ive ever seen

  • @braileyyay you too

  • can i use a camera instead of a scanner?

  • @KylenneLupo maybe, but you won't get the quality you would get with a scanner

  • this definetly has to be one of the best videos for beginners like me im using gimp but the programs are more or less the same so it wont be hard great vid!

  • You definetly know what your doing but I felt it was hard to follow at times because you were working a little ahead of what you were describing at the time. Step by step would be more beneficial for people like me who have know experience in Adobe photoshop. With that being said this is the best video on youtube from what I can find.

  • worst tutorial ever no thanks

  • thankyou, I wish I would have found this earlier!

  • BONE!!!!!!!!!!!! I have all the books!

  • My scanner has lineart-scanning built in the software...

  • Good stuff. I was scanning in Greyscale.

  • is he the colorer for bones?

  • @rashid1111112 yes! The Eisner Award winner in the coloring category of 2010 for his work on Bone - Crown of Horns

  • Oh thank GOODNESS!! This video helped a lot! Thanks for the help.

  • That bitmap tip is a good one, thanks.

  • Good stuff

  • so helpful, thanks

  • I assume "color range" > highlights is only in the full version of PS, as elements doesn't seem to include that

  • she is so hot!!! wow!! N

  • ._."

  • thanks a lot man!!

  • if u dont mind me asking what dose scanning mean and do u live trace your work in adoby illistrator or do u just do all your work in photo shop coz the line art seems pritty smooth and also what do you use to make your panels

  • Scanning means you put it in a scanner and push "scan".

Jeff Smith, the artist, used normal ink and paper for it.

  • Most professionals use ink and paper for lineart, scan and color in a program like Manga Studio, Photoshop, or Illustrator

  • are you using photoshop cs2?

  • wow i want to do comics

  • I want a job like this! so cool

  • checking out pt 2 now cheers for the upload!

  • awesome ! thanx so much! can't wait for more!

  • Make more of these! It's great to see how the pros do it!

  • I could hear him perfect. Anyways i see you a have an EP2 i hope you will make more videos. :)

  • wow ya am interested too !! =) cool keep it up!

  • as nomadick said, you can simply put the lineart in multiply mode, so you can scan in grayscale and get much softer lines =D

  • Cant wait to see more. Your work on Bone really brought even more magic to an already enchanting book. Right now I'm stuck on pages 96-97, admiring the night-time ambiance. Once again, stellar work. Don't keep us waiting too long for these installments :D

  • thats pages 96-97 of book 2 by the way!

  • Great!

I would love to see more!

  • So why exactly delete the white from the layer, it seems like extra work I always just turned on multiply on that layer. But wtf do I know? :)

  • Nice tutorial, might want to consider doing the audio separate from the video so it's easier to hear what you're saying. Haha nice that you used a panel from Bone. I remember reading that comic in Disney Adventures magazine years ago. Good job 5 stars.

  • i'm VERY intrested in this, hope to see more

  • Good start - would love to see more in-detail!!

  • I'm also very interested, thank you!

  • found my way here through the Beat blog..

    Moar plz! :D

  • More please! Thanks Steve.

  • Oh,, now this is something I cant get enough of,, hit me with some more

  • Is it just me or did the intro and outro take longer than the actual tutorial bit? :p

    Moar! MOAR!

  • Nice! Can't wait to see more. :)

  • I'm definitely interested in this! Thanks Steve

  • can i see a demonstration of actually coloring the panel? i'm trying to expand and color my artwork, both original and collected, with photoshop and could use some input.

  • take a look at steve's other videos, hope that helps.
