You would actually be fine if you ran out because the underwater pressure increases at a rate of 1 atm per 10m depth so at 33m your lungs have been compressed 3.3 times their normal capacity so as you ascend your lungs expand and you do not run out of oxygen but contrarily you must instead continuously breath out because failure to release the increasing pressure inside your lungs could potentially cause them to burst.

Its only the pressure difference that makes them hurt not the total pressure. Once you "pop" your ears you don't feel it because the pressure is equalized. You must continue "popping" them as you descend and the pressure continues to build.

@fruitmuncher333 First of all: It's not an oxygen tank. If you would breathe 100% oxygen you would run into massive trouble if you go deeper than 5-6m. Second: If you do an emergency ascent the remaining air in the hose expands and you will have at least a bit of air to breathe. And Third: That's why you should never dive alone so you always have help if something goes wrong.
