A wonderful voice!! It seems to be common to compare present sopranos to Maria Callas...and sometimes I find it a bit stupid. But now I have to make sin myself.Annick Massis` voice is very close to Maria Callas´.
Saw her perform this role in Pittsburgh about 5 years ago in a wonderful performance. Her voice can really fill the hall and she has a great technique.
I just wonder how is the size of the voice "on stage" ??? She seems to be quiet large , but is it just an impression...I am more impressed by her than by Dessay
This was absolutely beautiful. She altered it very well. I must admit, I like Maria Callas better, but I have never heard anyone other than her capture my attention while singing Spargi d'amaro pianto until now. Bravo!!
I had the supreme honor of being a super in the Pittsburgh Operas production of Lucia with Annick Massis... amazing. She made an opera lover out of me. I was a "guard" in the mad scene & the power of her performance... one of the best experiences of my life! She, too, is a lovely, kind woman.
Annick is HOT...this is one of the best essays I've heard of the Spargi...did you all hear that kicker E-flat at the end? I thought she was gonna cut it off where all the others do, because they're too tired to keep going, or the conductor said so. I was pleasantly surprised and thrilled. Thanks so much for posting!!!
This music blows my mind.
Splendide, absolutely amazing, a lovely talented soprano.

damn that woman has high notes. this not a lyric coloratura, but a true dramatic coloratura soprano and the first real one we've had since Sutherland

The voice of Massis is less "good broadcasting" that of Dessay, but in live, it is quite simply amazing

I agree. I saw Dessay in Chicago and Massis in NYC both as Lucia. I thought in tems of beauty of voice and delicacy of actinjg Massis has the edge.
Dessay is a stage animal and sometimes I think she goes overboard.

Yes Dessay and Massis shared the role, Dessay began and ended the season and Massis did some middle performances
