Every game is going to have something wrong with it. THERE IS NO PERFECT GAME. There will always be some kinda glitch/bug. In 2K12, there will be some kinda annoying bug or glitch. I think if u hold LT he will turn his back and go into the post.

Wow talk about nitpicking, I agree that its not quite realistic but if they didn't have something like that, people would run around all day dribbling the ball and eventually shake the AI , which is cheap and unrealistic & that would be worse. So I'm ok with it b/c it keeps the ball moving, which 2 is much more realistic then alternative.

Instead of fancy moves in 2k10, it actually gives you the ability to be affective on the dribble more. Remember in 2k10, when you would cross someone over, but it wasnt you crossing them, it was them falling randomly? This is meant to stop that. Get your handle up and then make a video.
Yeah I play ball alot and most the time youll turn it over before a guy will make you stop ur dribble. But it does happen where ppl get de'ed up and they have to stop, but that doesnt even happen once a game on average. Most guys have the handles to just back up while dribbling the ball....a turnover is more likely than just stopping, but once again most good guys I play wit have the skills to just take the minor bump and back up while dribbling.
All you have to do is make you Dibble and off hand Dribble attributes better and this won't happen. This was annoying at first but once I upped the stats is stopped happening.

your right but the only reason that the would put this aspect in this game , is to make the a.i. smater or seem smarter, its common sence if someone is trying steal the ball u avoid them or even a double team but in 2k10 the guy would just run by the whole damn team.it also helps ball movement and ballhogs online . thats what i feel and im not saying your wrong im just reasoning.thanks

I 100% agree with you. They had an animation in 2k10 where you would just stop dribbling for no reason (it was a HUGE pain in the attack basket drill) and now they have this. The most frustrating thing is when you're sitting there with no dribble, none of your teammates try to get free so when you throw the pass, it's almost always intercepted.

@MrJeckel it's not so much that Calderon is forcing you to pick up your dribble but more than your player isn't good enough to use those dribbles to get by defenders. This isn't 2k10, you can just spin around everyone, you actually have to know what you're doing. It's unrealistic for a scrub to get by any defenders, let alone with crossovers and in and outs. When was the last time you saw Chris Quinn or Travis Diener blow by a defender (even as awful as Calderon)?

Versuz... you really aught to try playing people online bro. Cause this is an obvious thing. Anyhow... again... when a bad pass is thrown your way and your guy makes an awkward move to recover the pass (lets say on the sideline)... Is that "YOU" controlling that animation or is it the player. It's the Player. This is because you aren't the ball player. You're controlling a player that has a certain amount of abilities. Your man picks up the ball because he cannot continue. This is obvious.
This doesn't happen to me with Jordan in the Jordan challenge. You need to up your dribble. This is happening because your character doesn't have enough ability to continue when he looses his control. You did a bad crossover back towards the defender therefore banging into him and loosing control. Your players ability level isn't high enough to recover so "he" picked up the ball. Remember, you are not Kobe in this game. Kobe has his game. You just attempt to control him.
dont know what level of competition your 'tournaments' and 'training camps' were, but if you've ever played at a high level of basketball, the defender can certainly apply enough pressure for you to stop dribbling. In this game since it happens frequently then theres not much you can do about it. There is no reason for it except for the computer to get the output that it wants. It happens to me alot also, especially when i'm trying to figure out dribbling moves. But what I hate more is the way the computer defender dictates where you move once they make contact with you. It's too exaggerated and the recovery time is just ridiculous. And after they bump you it's hard to get your player to turn around and regroup. I think it's worse than last year.

the ONLY defenders that should be able to let you pick your dribble up are ELITE defenders and even then it happens way too much. it is the biggest flaw in the game. i can't tell you guys how many times this has happened to me. Instead of My Player, dribble around with Wade, LeBron, Nash, Paul, or even a guy like Granger or decent ball handlers. Rarely happens with them. If you seem to ever get stuck on a defender like that, use the stepback or try to spin.

@MrJeckel Your My Player isn't as good as DWade was, why even compare? That's like being mad because you can't rebound like Howard... And a lot of times you have to pick up your dribble because you did something stupid. Even on 2k10, if you had bad ball handling skills and tried to do too many crossovers/spins, the ball would slip out of your hand. At least here most of the times you get the keep the ball.

Also, the better your ball handling/offhand dribble is, and the better you can use it, the less it happens. It's something you have to get good at. My PG went from picking up his dribble against Jrue Holiday to dropping 37 on Rondo

@MrJeckel Just like it's not realistic for a crappy guard to get around any defender he wants. Get real, Calderon is awful but so is your player. My ball handling is at 70 (for both) and I now NEVER have this problem. Isn't perhaps possible that you're just not good? Naw, it couldn't be that.
This does happen alot....BUT Its about your dribbling ratings...because if you play with a player with a higher dribbling rating...its alot more fluid and you can use IsoMotion to get around people.
@silentu45 they are holding up. ive been playing a couple of pick up games and havent been knocked out yet. but i havent been in a crew game yet, that is the big test.
I agree that they MUST change the way the player has control. Its still a great sim game. BUt I agree wit you my man. 2k needs to change the way we can have complete control over our player.
Agreed!!!!!! And I noticed that when this has happened and I try to pass the ball they are always in a position to make a steal almost as if they had it predetermined to do so...still love the game but these little flaws need to be cleaned up. Great work V
Every video game has clipping or as you call it "fusion" its just the nature of the beast. They use the center mass of the heads skeleton and such as the distance of where models shouldnt clip, since each player is unique in size it happens at times. IT would be way to hard on the system to uniquely code each persons size into the equation, also the game is moving so fast you wouldnt notice it unless u slow it down like u did.

the haircuts for created players are horrible lmfao also my biggest problem with 2k is the constant deflections, my computer teammates not making OPEN shots...i was playing on HOF mode and (bron and wade) couldnt hit shit when we teammed up but as soon as i got traded the heat went 12-13 from the 3pt in a fucking game! wade and bron combined for 84 points. That shit is crazy to me because it doesnt matter who ur teammates r they cant hit open 3pters. Also after every loss i had a new head coach

I don't know versuz, I've only had this happen maybe once...I"ve seen it, but it's not often in my case. I think I was double teamed at the out of bounds line when It happened. My biggest gripe is the cpu ai being able to see and steal the ball, when Not even looking...they happen to put a hand up when looking at the player they are defending, and physically cause a tipped pass....It makes you play harder, but that seems a bit unrealistic.

This used to happen to me a lot when I was starting my own my player. but when I increased my ball handling skills I started seeing it less. I guess when you have low ball handling this is a way they represent it.not saying it's right just an observation
Yeah this is a problem on 2k ..i believe they can patch this though. I hope so...I'm loving 2k11 in addition though a patch is needed for this, it is a big peeve.

Increasing your speed and quickness attributes should reduce this "stopping" animation. You're in the early stages of "my player" mode and your rating can't be any more than 38-39, so I think 2k is trying to say, your player isn't "good enough" yet to be able to continue your dribble and manuever around the opponent. I play as a point guard and my speed is maxed out(99) along with a 89 quickness rating, so I rarely experience that animation.
I hate that to I realized it when I was doing the attack the basket drill in the my player mode it's annoying and why the hell can't I use the cross over with the B button when I switch my controller alternative to the second one I tap B all day and nothing
i dont even have this game, but from what you said before, your player is like a 30 overall, and you said yourself that players stop dribbling to regain control of the ball irl. You also said its mainly in My Player mode, maybe your guys ball handling is so bad that any little contact forces him to have to use 2 hands to maintain control?

Even on 2k10, if you had bad ball handling skills and tried to do too many crossovers/spins, the ball would slip out of your hand. At least here most of the times you get the keep the ball.

@ButterMilkPancakes Listen... even the crappiest of players that enter the league as guards can dribble the ball. period. i don't want to hear that bs. When jose calderon is shutting my player down making him pick the ball up there is a PROBLEM and if you think that jose calderon whom is quite possibly the worst starting pg defender in the nba can make any player pick up their dribble 4 out of 5 times you are HIGHLY MISTAKEN. i love the game overall but that aspect needs 2 be cleaned up period.

@MrJeckel Actually, the reason why you don't see players like Quinn and Travis Diener over dribbling and trying to cross people over is because they're not good enough to do it. If your ball handling isn't high, you shouldn't be doing it. It's the nature of the game.
Also, the better your ball handling/offhand dribble is, and the better you can use it, the less it happens. It's something you have to get good at. My PG went from picking up his dribble against Jrue Holiday to dropping 37 on Rondo

@ButterMilkPancakes again u just talked about picking up your dribble against jrue holiday... he is actually a good defender in REAL LIFE. i don't expect calderon the worst pg defender in the NBA to let anyone nevertheless a scoring SG to pick their dribble up period. seriously i watch too many nba games to think otherwise. im talking about the realism of it not the technicalities. its not realistic for calderon to be making any player pick their dribble up 4/5 times period.

@MrJeckel Just like it's not realistic for a crappy guard to get around any defender he wants. Get real, Calderon is awful but so is your player. My ball handling is at 70 (for both) and I now NEVER have this problem. Isn't perhaps possible that you're just not good? Naw, it couldn't be that.

This does happen alot....BUT Its about your dribbling ratings...because if you play with a player with a higher dribbling rating...its alot more fluid and you can use IsoMotion to get around people.

I agree that they MUST change the way the player has control. Its still a great sim game. BUt I agree wit you my man. 2k needs to change the way we can have complete control over our player.

Agreed!!!!!! And I noticed that when this has happened and I try to pass the ball they are always in a position to make a steal almost as if they had it predetermined to do so...still love the game but these little flaws need to be cleaned up. Great work V

Every video game has clipping or as you call it "fusion" its just the nature of the beast. They use the center mass of the heads skeleton and such as the distance of where models shouldnt clip, since each player is unique in size it happens at times. IT would be way to hard on the system to uniquely code each persons size into the equation, also the game is moving so fast you wouldnt notice it unless u slow it down like u did.

@jordangilmore23 When you up your ball handling rating your player will stop picking up his dribble in those situations. As a fellow Bball player I do argree that there is no way a defender could make me pick up my dribble, I just think thats the games' way of representing the ball handling rating.

the haircuts for created players are horrible lmfao also my biggest problem with 2k is the constant deflections, my computer teammates not making OPEN shots...i was playing on HOF mode and (bron and wade) couldnt hit shit when we teammed up but as soon as i got traded the heat went 12-13 from the 3pt in a fucking game! wade and bron combined for 84 points. That shit is crazy to me because it doesnt matter who ur teammates r they cant hit open 3pters. Also after every loss i had a new head coach

I don't know versuz, I've only had this happen maybe once...I"ve seen it, but it's not often in my case. I think I was double teamed at the out of bounds line when It happened. My biggest gripe is the cpu ai being able to see and steal the ball, when Not even looking...they happen to put a hand up when looking at the player they are defending, and physically cause a tipped pass....It makes you play harder, but that seems a bit unrealistic.

dude, you(real life) have better skill than this jabroni on the game. Go to the playground and ask any new person to dribble past you, he can't because he has no ball handling skills. Just up his ratings. What u think u come in and just start dribbling like u da professor or something?

This used to happen to me a lot when I was starting my own my player. but when I increased my ball handling skills I started seeing it less. I guess when you have low ball handling this is a way they represent it.not saying it's right just an observation

Increasing your speed and quickness attributes should reduce this "stopping" animation. You're in the early stages of "my player" mode and your rating can't be any more than 38-39, so I think 2k is trying to say, your player isn't "good enough" yet to be able to continue your dribble and manuever around the opponent. I play as a point guard and my speed is maxed out(99) along with a 89 quickness rating, so I rarely experience that animation.

i dont even have this game, but from what you said before, your player is like a 30 overall, and you said yourself that players stop dribbling to regain control of the ball irl. You also said its mainly in My Player mode, maybe your guys ball handling is so bad that any little contact forces him to have to use 2 hands to maintain control?
